    Tips And Comments:
    - Playing Technique: Played right on the neck pickup with middle through high strength. Just one finger used. Applying good pressure with the tip of the finger should help get some attack comined with the dampening of strings. Just neck pickup with some tone rolled down.
    - Gear Sound: Just DI directly on some little compression and added some low mids on eq. Used a sponge cut in half placed on the low part of the bridge.
    - About The Song: I think it turned out good enough. Maybe some tempo troubles here and there. It's obviously a hard line, harder than it looks, specially trying to emulate some of the sound and using one finger, thing that i'm not very used to. Positions are just made by me since there's no footage to get some help. I just tried to use lots of open strings on the chorus, since i know Jamerson used them, but mostly i tried to get a comfortable enough position. Transcribed from stuiod version with help of isolated bass track

Took me 3/4 years to learn this song, and I had been playing bass for 7 years... That goes to show how much mastery Jamerson had shown in his bass lines, and how groundbreaking he was in the role of the bass guitar.

The amount that I'm learning about how to harmonize with a key/chord has added to every genre I play with my band mates and they have already noticed. James is a masterclass on how to groove with technical finesse and wow with just one finger and a beat. I forwent all slap and tone shaping when I found him so I could focus on his lessons.

MrBuda watch some videos on proper technique your wrist shouldn’t be hurting that badly unless something is already wrong with it in which case you may need to adjust your technique which it sounds like you need to do anyway. Make sure the neck is up high enough for starters and not lateral with the bass body and floor, your bass should sit at an angle whether in your lap or standing.

IMO this is one of the greatest songs of all time. Thanks for posting this. Is it just me or does this song NEVER land on the I chord, no matter what key they're in? It seems like they always elide to the vi chord, unless it's IN minor! Or, they'll use the ii or the IV instead. Those coupled with the super dramatic hanging half-diminished chord at the beginning, It gives the song this powerful, unresolved feeling. It keeps sounding like it's getting there (IV chord), then falling back to trying to get there (half diminished), etc. That extremely active bass line really helps underline, build and support this tension. It's like no other song I've ever heard. Major kudos to Ashford, Simpson and Jamerson!

    Note for note ….Nailed it!
It tickles me when people think that there’s some other person that plays like, or is as good as, James Jamerson.
You may think you heard bass performances on this level. Till I ask “Who? Name one person since 1959 that is not a jazz musician that played bass on this level?”
    Don’t embarrass yourself.
No bass player in the world ever said “I’m better than James.”
    They dare not.
He’s the genuine absolute G.O.A.T. Of the electric bass.
Listen to the melody he generates (from a bass?).
Sorry. The bass is not a melodic instrument.

Awesome stuff, could you do "Heard it through the Grapevine" by Gladys Knight & the Pips some time maybe? Don't know if it really is Jamerson on Bass on that track but it sure is one hell of a bassline :)

Question: I’m playing in a Motown show, and want to get the best tone possible. I already know I want to put flatwound strings on, but it would be helpful to know what you use, or recommend to use, as a mute. What about tone settings?

A piece of sponge used to mute the strings and help get this sound. I used just an old kitchen sponge but you can use better things
