Eco Straw Bale House for Rent - North East Poland

The house is totally unique. Hand made without electric tools, all sculpted by hand. There are mosaics in the bathrooms and kitchen and lime plasters in the living room. The stove in the kitchen with the heated bench is made by an old local mason, who made it in the old tradition that he learnt from his father and sculpted around and decorated with mosaic by a local artist. The straw bale walls are made with local straw during workshops and the thatch is made by local thatchers using the local reed. The clay for the plastering is taken from the field in front of the house. Because the house is not lived in, its garden is wild, with nature all around. It is also not 100% finished…. Maybe 97%. ..still more plastering to be done, mainly on the outside. Every summer we return to do a bit more plastering … its our ongoing project.
The house is located in the beautiful area of Poland called Suwalszczyzna. Considered the lungs of Poland. It is a very sparsely populated area with a lot of lakes, gentle rolling hills and forests, very close to the Lithuanian border.
