I also just moved to Atlanta and looking to get them installed in my M8. I need a box made for my trunk. I also have a dsp because I want to use my stock interior radio system and not have the bass to top off when increasing the sound. Do you do all of that?
Notice the depth of the basket.. those short , fat subs just dont throw like that. It also allows a coil with more winding hight. therfore more coil in the bl zone.
@@Chuck_Sanders I understand.. but without a deep basket and wide spider, and tall enough former how can the coil travel deep into the motor And extend out? I always thought a taller former and more room for extension made way for more winding..
@@Chuck_Sanders totally makes sense tho.. even if you shorten the basket ..the suspension and surround extension.. to the bottoming out on motor is what it could travel.. I stand corrected sir.
Yeah, there are lots of individual factors that dictate excursion capability. And like a chain, you're limited to whatever has the least excursion. You need tall coils in order to have large linear movement, and then a motor deep enough to accommodate the coil and it's excursion. Then you need a spider and surround capable of moving that much. Lastly you also need a basket capable of that movement. The standard 6 spoke basket simply can't accommodate much excursion, so there's not a real point in putting a super deep motor on it.
Just got mine. Ribs on my surround arrived damaged 💔 Looks like they over extended the surround and each rib has a small tear in it. Hand built in the usa quality.
There are lots of different methods. Idk exactly which one MB uses, but here's a handful. Solder and heat shrink, ring terminals, even wirenuts or splices and electrical tape can work in a pinch.
