    Do you make your green circuits on the bus or local to the production area?

      Up until red science i put them kind of in the middle and then i have belts that kind of spider out to areas that need them usually 2 big nodes of green production. My bus at this point is just iron copper coal and steel. Then after red circuits i will usually move all my green production down wherever reds are in preparation for blue circuits. Then once i get blue i will usually streamline everything into a circuit bus semi independent from my main resource bus. Ha.

      @Touay. Před 3 lety

      I make a small green circuit area for mall, but I have self-contained science production units - everything is local. my 'megabase' version consists of self-contained science outposts. If I need more yellow science, I drop the yellow science outpost, connect it to the train network and find some mines with extra capacity. I then have a single lab outpost that receives the science packs by rail.

    As a new player, seeing the planning behind all these things is very useful. I still, however, find the concept of the mall and separate smelters for green circuits, and central busses to be overwhelming. However, I very much see the use of them, since in the last tutorial world my factory devolved into a cramped mess with no possibility of expansion haha.

    Just getting into Factorio and I have watched a few videos but I must say yours are the clearest to understand. I did grab the Mall blueprint from your site and noticed that the one in this video has an additional Iron feed in the middle array (5 belts in) but the blueprint only has 4.
    I have not yet managed to get as far as Red circuits on my own so hopefully with these I can get further. I have often made the mistake of starting on too small scale and abandoning when it get too ctamped and starting again. Thanks Katherine

    I’ve spent the past few days designing my own mall and to my absolute surprise it’s turning out really well! Right now I’m working on making it upgradable. I spent so much time when I first started out playing this game worrying that I’d never get the hang of automation and hitting a wall where I couldn’t progress past automating red and green science, but after playing around in sandbox mode I feel like I’m really able to enjoy the game now!

I have janky ones that work well enough but once I start needing high end sciences and modules my factory can't keep up anymore. Something you might want to think about for your early game Mall BP is to replace the Fast (blue) Inserters with normal (yellow) Inserters.
    (Edit: as you can see Factorio players can have their opinions, based on reasoning which can easily turn into a Wall of test attack unintentionally ;) )
    Reasoning:
    1.) Grey Assemblers are really slooooow. They craft at half the speed of the player. They do not require materials at blue inserter speeds with the exception of MAYBE landfill, depending on how fast you want it, I personally use 3 yellows and have not had any issues getting the amounts I need.
    2.) They use considerably less electricity making power expansion easier to deal with. blue inserters use 3-4x the power used by yellow ones per swing.
    3.) They cost less. By 4 green chips no less.
    4.) It's REALLY easy to replace inserters with the upgrade planner. Though I'm not sure if nano-bots will do that.
    5.) Better disbursement of supplies. This may seem counter intuitive, but your won's have the first assembler getting all of the materials sent through he mall as yellow inserters are slow enough to not get 100% of all stuff that comes through. This gets even more apparently as you replace some assemblers with blue (like gears) and get inserter stack upgrades, oddly enough. This is even more apparent to those who split mall resources (like gears and green chips) off from the bus directly.

  • @cshairydude
    @cshairydude Před 3 lety

    23:15 A yellow belt carries 15 items per second, and grey assemblers produce 1 green circuit per second, so 16 of them (8 per side or 4 copies of the blueprint) are enough to fill a yellow belt.

    You missclick on last paste, grid prevent this and you can faster paste this.
