  • TODAY'S VIDEO: controversial kpop opinions that should not be controversial
    Hey guys! In today's video, we are going to be discussing some controversial kpop opinions that shouldn't be controversial. As you may or may not know (depending on if you're new to my channel or if you've been here before :D), I love doing videos discussing unpopular kpop opinions, kpop hot takes & hard to swallow pills etc, so this is kind of a continuation of those types of videos!
    As always, please note these are just my opinions and I am in no way intending to send any hate towards any artist of individual. Oh and also the videos on screen are just completely random so you have something to look at while I speak, these are not necessarily in relation to the point I'm talking about or an attempt to be shady ahah!
    Thank you so much for watching, I really hope you enjoy this video! If you do, please give it a thumbs up, and I would love to hear your thoughts on these topics in the comments. Do you have any controversial unpopular kpop opinions of your own you'd like to share? Let me know!
    If you're new here and haven't yet subscribed, please hit the subscribe button down below and turn on the notification bell - that should let you be the first to hear whenever I upload!
    See you next time,

      This! I’m that type of fan. Sometimes I’ve felt bad because I haven’t contributed with voting and streaming and such, but I honestly just don’t have the energy or time for it. Most of the time I wait watching the newest mv of a group I’m fan of a couple days/a week or more. I hope it doesn’t make me less of a fan, I just need to be in the right mood and mindset before watching a mv. It’s mostly because a lot of kpop mvs has a lot of visual stuff in their mvs, which my autistic ass get very overwhelmed by, and I have to watch it multiple times, if my brain is already overwhelmed/overstimulated.

    About the second option: i 1000% agree about how important it is for kpop to not be the most important thing in your life. At all. Like anytime i become too absorbed with it, and im too desperate, the first time I take a step away is incredible. Like it's so eye opening. Like on one hand its "oh my gosh there is WAY much more to life, like look at everything directly around me" and on the other hand its "wow this is fun but no part of me needs to be *that* concerned with people on the other side of the world". Im glad im very careful so i dont go spending tons of money on things, even though it can be tempting (concerts, signed pcs, although i kinda want one lol but ik i shouldn't, and being too impulsive is hard to avoid), because there are so many better things i should be doing for the current time. A lot of it for me is religious, focusing on Christ and praying for decisions, but honestly the statement of "go touch some grass" has so much truth in any situation. From video games to reading books, it's so important to just go have quiet time and look at the sky and realize "wait why am i so focused on this... There are way more important things in life for me. This is fun sure, but is not the best thing i could be doing rn.
    Anyways that's my perspective.

    I agree with everything, about what you said in the 3rd opinion, it's very real, groups like TXT and (G)i-dle, usually put these haters disguised as fans in their place, so we can see that this is something that has been changing, that idols are no longer accepting gratuitous criticism and defending themselves.
    About the 8th opinion, I also feel bad about it, and I think it's cool that Soobin (TXT) has already said that he does these challenges but only with people he likes, with whom he has an affinity, that sometimes some people ask to record with him and he apologizes and refuses because he doesn't feel well doing with someone he doesn't feel comfortable with, because it would be a kind of "fake interaction".

    All great points as usual!
    K-pop is a bit of escapism for me and I want it to be a happy place for everyone, fans and idols alike. There's a funny clip of Siyeon of Dreamcatcher basically telling a troll that they're talking out of an alternative orifice than their mouth after they were mean to Gahyeon - I suspect most idols would not have got away with that however!
    DCC seem to have set a good example for companies, having taken a relatively unsuccessful group, believed in their idols and shepherded them through a major relaunch to now be a globetrotting success with a huge devoted fanbase - and that faith was returned by the members who all resigned early. It pays to look after your idols and it drives me mad when companies don't see that. It cannot make moral, ethical or even financial sense to break and burn out idols and have an endless revolving door of new talent to be mined to exhaustion.
    Another thing I found jarring was reading a whole bunch of Reddit comments along the lines of how, because a group had dared to release a song they didn't like, these people would have to unstan the group, as if they'd suddenly not support a group because they had the temerity to release music that was not personally to their taste! Dreamcatcher's latest comeback, Bonvoyage, isn't particularly to my taste, but I still like the group and the songs of theirs that I already liked...also Propose from the new album is an absolute banger which I heartily recommend! It seems like sometimes some people can't reconcile liking something without having to hate something else and it's a real shame.

    About number 6, I've always been against idols debuting so young but once they debuted there's nothing much we can't do as fans right ? I will support them because it's their dream at the end of the day but that doesn't mean it's still ok

      You say you’re against children debuting, yet you willingly support debuting children? Make it make sense.
      And there are things we can do, it’s really easy actually. DON’T SUPPORT CHILD GROUPS.
      Block their instagram, spotify profile, twitter and tiktok account. Don’t listen to their music, or watch the comeback stage. LET 👏 THEM 👏 FLOP 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
      Then, when they’re all 18 (19 if we follow korean legal age) you can unblock and go on stanning if you still like. There’s a 99% chance they’re gonna flop anyway. Is their ”dream” worth lifelong trauma just so a couple of old men and women can make a quick buck off of child labour?

  • @ancientmingyu0604
    @ancientmingyu0604 Před rokem +3

    Regarding the minors in Kpop: the only thing all of us can really is to set a boundary for ourselves first. For example, in Germany you're considered a legal adult at age 18. So I set my personal boundary to 17 because that is acceptable to me personally. Yours may be the legal age in Korea, which is 20. Or anything in between or even lower than that but that's your personal level of comfort.
    Then we have to stop consuming content or supporting groups that have members of ages below that boundary. Like, we genuinely can't and shouldn't. I will not support or consume content made by groups that have members that are under the age of 17. To this day I have not watched a single video NewJeans put out, I have never voted for them, listened to one of their songs or bought any merch and I will continue to not do that. Same with Baby Monster. I will never support that group.
    That's the only thing we can truly do as stans. And if we genuinely do that for ourselves it's already more than anyone else is doing.

  • @awkwardcutie
    @awkwardcutie Před 10 měsíci +1

    I'm autistic and even when I just got into kpop and was like almost obsessed I could still think rationally and I had a life outside of it but back then I struggled to talk about or concentrate when it's not about my interests. Kpop was ofc not my only interest tho. I love (and still love) animals, horseback riding and music over all. But I get what you mean because some people get into a fantasy world with kpop (which is okay) but then they can't really differ fantasyland from reality and that's when it becomes a but dangerous imo but teens or children over all should be careful when falling into something too hard because a lot of teens and children can't think straight and have tunnel vision and see everything in black and white 😬❤️
    I completely agree that you should listen to yourself in how much time and enery you give to kpop (or any interest). It's okay to have a life outside of it. Sometimes I feel like it's taboo to not like or watch everything your faves uppload but like I wanna do other things too and I like many groups so I can't watch everything. Honestly I just do what I feel and that's okay. I'm still a "real fan" it's okay to not dedicate you whole life to
    With the album thing I kinda disagree. Ofc I think aesthetics matter but for me the most important is the music either on the album or just iver all from the group. For me kpop is mostly about music and it's the same for most kpop fans I've met. Or well we buy the album to support them and some people collect. For me I just like to have at least maybe one album for a group I like or if there's an album I really like as well. Sure I usually just listen to them on Spotify but at least I've supported and looked through the album... And now theyre in a drawer 🤡

    8:15 i think this is a very good idea! especially because as you said, kpop companies will do the most to cut corners when it comes to getting the most profit, so placing in these requirements for younger idols will hopefully make it less desirable for companies to debut children.

  • @vivianedossantoscaipira7075

    About the Opinion number 7:
    I didn't know that was a thing,since none of my friends(who are also kpop fan)cared about how an album looks.That's just weird...I don't have many albums(maybe not even 4),but I buyed them because I want to hear the music.If someone is going to buy an album just by the looks,then...

    Especially the album one. I have always only bought albums because they look pretty. I don't even listen to cds in the car, I have a flash drive or just connect it to my phone via Bluetooth. So yeah, I think it is absolutely OK to only buy albums you think are nice looking. Companies should put more effort into those designs, they charge enough for them

  • @noidea5927

    That is probably way too late but i don't know where to share this opinion anyway. So, the toxic things in k-pop is what makes it k-pop. That is why we can't progress into anything more than that. Minors debuting, sexualisation, beauty standards, occasional racism scandals, dating ban and so on that is what we all are so attached to. Cause weather we like these things or hate them, discussing it all gives a feeling of having purpose in life. If k-pop would suddenly become a healthy space with just nice music it would lost most of its fans cause we would not have things to be against or a place to spill all of our negative emotions. That is the reason we are not progressing and clinging to old-fashioned stuff we were discussing 10 years ago. K-pop is not about music or artists. They are just a nice addition. The main goal is to find a way to make our lives meaningful and nothing makes us feel more meaningful than things that evoke negative emotions.

    With minors I have always said it CAN be done, if it’s done right. Parents/Guardians need 100% transparency or even need to be present for some/most activities. Contracts should be no longer than 4/3 years. Schedules must allow for education and breaks and releases not so jammed packed. The music MUST be age appropriate outfit/dance/lyric wise and in my opinion should be paid MORE than an adult due to them being underage. And honestly in my personal opinion I think younger kids who aren’t idols/celebrities NEED younger stars to help keep them at their age. Take away minors in music, you automatically put the burden on adults to not only relate and sell to people their age but children, and some adults will have to SOLEY have watered down/innocent/child like catalogs to get that sale from the younger demographic, and now the children are more inspired to act “grown up” because their fav idols are now only adults and continue with mature concepts. Minors in music will always be a touchy subject but I feel instead of saying STOP IT because it will never, voice the rights that need to be in place for the protection and mental growth and stability of the minors. And sadly we live in a world where no one is safe from body shaming, or bullying 😢

    I mean… I get why we don’t want to debut minors in music. But, what we should probably think about is that the minors CHOSE to join a company. They CHOSE to join a group. I don’t know if they sign the contracts or if parents sign the contracts, but contracts WERE SIGNED.That’s my opinion.
