I wish i had the funds to buy some of your fish so i can put them in my 300 gallon pond đđ but one day it will happenđđ
I say those Ram cichilds and got excited and then notice they are out of stock. I got on the waitlist. Any time frame on them?
@@Methodical2 which ones?
I use 2 of these in my 29 gallon goldfish tank. Love the fact you can add your own media into the compartments. I use the media it comes with, carbon, zeolite and lava rock in mine.
Cool
Wouldnt one be enough for a 40g
I have been using one of those type filters in my 55 gallon aquarium with my chiclids and native perch and brim and I found it to be a great filter. I usually clean it about every 2 or 3 months and it keeps my aquarium clean and the water crystal clear. I also have a smaller biosponge filter, in each of my 3 beta tanks and they also work great. I'm thinking of putting those type filters in the rest of my 13 aquariums that range in size from 5 to 75 gallons. I highly recommend these bio-sponge filters.
They should use magnets for holding it to glass I love sponge filters in addition to hob great video
Thanks!
Just wanted you to know I appreciate the honest reviews. Issues you describe are exactly the ones Im concerned about. Cheers!
Thanks!
I use the version of these with the inline pump. AQQA brand large size. They work great even when the filters are super clogged it's still pumps a lot of water through. My suction cups are still sticking well 2.5 years later.
Cool
Michael I forgot to tell you after you commented on a question I had a while back. At the time I thought kens fish food was all the rave, until I eventually tried north fin flakes and pellets, and their kelp wafers. The difference is night and day. My point being, thank you for being so honest. This is what sets you apart from all the other CZcams channels. Youâre not afraid to tell the truth about everything. Additionally, when you do have any promos, you always stat that you get sheckles. Thanks mike. Happy Holidays.
Thank you! I just call it like I see it, If I like it I tell you, if I don't, I tell you!
Ahahahaha!!! The bloopers. I so needed them today. Thanks Mike.
Lol, I always need them.
Got this a few months ago. Seems to work well as additional filtration on my 20g long. Yep, suction cups don't hold very well.
How long did they last?
@@MichaelsFishRoom They still work, they just come off the wall every couple of weeks and have to stick back on.
one thing I have found with all this sort of filter it's worth having a good look at the air input peace and cut out any unwanted obstructions and all so push the lift tube in all the way and check it doesn't block the air inlet
Good to know.
Thank you for the teletubbies ear worm Mike. I've not had it forced on me in twenty years and now it is the only thing living between my ears.
..They say hello from the depth of what is left of my mind..
LOL
"Go watch Teletubbies or something". LMAO
LOL
I like that filter its probably my favorite double sponge.
Nice!
I LOLâd for real at the bloopers
Good!
Those are some of the best suction cups that have come on any piece of aquarium product that I have ever purchased; they are still clingy since May 2022. As a matter of fact, they are so sticky that it's hard for me to remove them when I try to remove the filter.
Thatâs awesome, unfortunately mine donât suck. Lol
@@MichaelsFishRoom Just to be sure, yours are still good, too?
@@Methodical2 no, they stopped sticking after a few weeks.
â@@MichaelsFishRoom maybe its the algae film on the tank surface
@@scapes5548 đ€·đ»ââïž
your outtake you left at the end of the video has me cracking up!
Good!
This is a great product
Meh
I've had mine for about a month, never used one before, just heard they where pretty good. Not sure if I'm liking it, I've only used hob. I guess I'll give it some time! Oops I just cleaned BOTH sponges, in the same aquarium water. That's a plus I guess!!!
It's not bad....
Hot tea and a great video. I have the smaller one made for ten gallon tanks. I keep the 90 degree elbow at water level and that gives me a nice flow of water at the surface of the tank. Like a hang on back filter. I like it for my tank though. Mine I bought from my family owned fish shop to help support them.
Nice!
They're relatively easy to clean cuz they slip off easily, so just clean them frequently when doing water changes every week or however often you do water changes. Remember theres two filters, you can stand with one leg while the other is limping, so theres no worry about the benefits bacteria.
If the suction cups dont suck very well, make sure its not just the thin algae film on the glass.
I change water every night while I am sleeping, so they wonât work. I found even under normal used they clogged too fasts I donât recommend.
Thank you for putting the time and effort into creating an Informative video on these! Iâve looked into them but wasnât sure how I felt about them until now. Iâm selectively breeding out some black eyed snakeskin koi guppies that I imported from Indonesia if youâd want to trade or something later on when I have a bigger stock of them đ
Thanks for watching! You can email me when you are ready.
I've had problems with fine-pore sponges, too. I wonder if an Aquarium Co-Op medium prefilter sponge could be fitted over the tubes.
I think the hole is too big (SO MANY JOKES!)
You had me hooked at 45 seconds!! Subbed immediately.
Nice! Thanks!
Bloopers cracked me up. Hahahaha OMG.
Always the best part
Tried one of these. The sponge filters clogged sooo quickly and were sucked in and didnât pass much through. Gave them a thorough cleaning but I felt the sponge was too tightly made. Not porous enough and had to keep on top of them couple of times a week. Not good.
yup
Always appreciate your honesty, no B.S. Mike.
Thanks!
Iâve had this filter on a 29g for over a year. Yep the suction cups suck. Or donât. However you want to word it. Other than that, it has work great for me. Just my experience. My shrimp hang out on it all of the time. Probably because it does fill up with leftover food quickly.
Thanks for the info!
Mike. Get some electrical numbers that they wrap around electric wires. That way you can number each line and know what is from what. You can get a book cheap. Just a thought to help you out. Then you do not have to color code. I use it on my lines. Works great. I know what is to what then if I have to work on a line or component.
That's a good idea, but a lot of work!
@@MichaelsFishRoom Not really. Do a little every other day and before you know it, it is done. Your videos are very good and informative. Keep up the great work.
My favorite sponge filter. I have one in every tank. And they are 15$ on Amazon right now
Nice!
Take the color tape for wires and color code the air lines. Even if you have a ton instead of one solid color you can make a multi color wrap around band. Like a Blue, red, Black, yellow to where you see those colors just outside of your tank and you look at the junctions and mid areas that you mark the line so you know that line belongs to that tank your targeting for whatever reason. Depending on how long the line is cut bigger strips of tape make the color code all at once and cut and wrap the hose at different points with that same tape combination. I do it on all my tanks and all my electronics so I know what plug belongs to what and what airline hose belongs to this or that. It makes life easier to color code everything.
Great idea!
Love the fact you keep it real thanks again for the info
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great videos and keeping the haters in check. I 100% respect you for that and look forward to watching many more. đđœ
Thanks, will do!
Legend says , mike is still eating cheesy đ§ nachos !!! And not giving a f@c&k !!!
Never really a nacho fan, but cheese friesâŠ..
As always, a video well worth watching. I feel like such a suction cup illiterate. I NEVER get them to stay in place⊠except with one product⊠happened to be a different Hygger product đ
Lol
Bloopers are life! đ
For sure!
Hey from Germany, Love to watch your Channel. Andrej
Thanks!
GREAT VIDEO
3 - 20 longs
Would you run 3 of these or Aquarium Coop traditional sponge filters?
Would the Tetra 100 air pump would run all 3?
Peace âïž
Aquarium Co Op 110%
"MIDEA"!!! LMAO!!!!! But Ilike the CHINA sponge. Seems great for seeding hospital/quarantine tanks.
LOL
Will there be a 1 month update? Iâve been looking at these as prefilters for my canisters and HOBs. Nice job as always.
Yes, soon
Yes they are
Lol
@@MichaelsFishRoom great for fry tanks.
you tell it like it is great i like that
Thanks
My albino pleco is putting sand on the sponge filter and i have to clean it every weakđ
How?
@@MichaelsFishRoom i dunno every morning i could see sand on top of my sponge filter
There's only 2 angelfish one zebra danio and this small albino pleco and its the only sus fish
So do the size of the tank matters to buy a sponge filter
Yes, as does the bioload.
Can you mix in carbon with the bio media, or simply remove the media and pack it full of carbon?
Sure. but why would you?
Hey Michael, great video! I have a tank in my bedroom and I'm wondering if the sponge filters are louder than a HOB filter?
I donât think so.
Got a new subscriber...
Welcome aboard!
I almost like it, but that bubbling sound would drive me bonkers. I wonder if a spray bar would fit on the top?
You could make something I am sure. Or just turn down the air.
If you raise it to water level, you will get a nice flow at the top. Really
OK
love the bloopers
Always the best part.
What was your long-term opinion about it? Not too harsh of a review considering you've called some of their other products garbage.
Donât waste your money.
Would you recommend these for a planted tank with pressurized co2? Currently using a hob on my 10g. Thanks
Nope...there are way better filters out there.
@@MichaelsFishRoom what would you recommend?
@@BigBoy-gj5mc aquarium co-op sponge filters
How do you turbo it?
By throwing it in the trash
NORMAL GUY, GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME, IM NORMAL GUY TOO
Twins!
Buy a t spring shirt. A few moments later âIâm not like most CZcamsrs⊠Iâm just a guy with a cameraâ rightttt
What are you trying to say?
Suction cup donât last. And just my opinion they donât work any better than the aquapapa double filter. Honestly my tank with the aquapapa filter looks cleaner and the sponges actually look like they picked up more debris that the hygger sponges
Cool
Great job!!!!! China filter!!!!! Awesome

Are you going to clean your tank anytime soon

What's the best way to clean it if the water flow is SO slow. Only have had it for about a month and a half
Take the sponges off and clean in old tank water.

Certified idiot here! I'm bad at remembering to clean sponge filters because I use them exclusively for extra bio filtration and air drops. I use the coarser ones from Aquarium CoOp, but even those will get clogged over time. I've burned up not one but TWO air pumps by not cleaning the sponges often enough. These fine sponges would never work for me.
I feel your pain!
hello
sup
The start killed me đ€Łđ€Ł go watch Teletubbies đ€Ł mad you don't give one f and I love it!
LOL...just calling like I see it.
This is just a glorified bubble machine. It doesnÂŽt suck any water in from the filters. It just pumps it out thru the big tube.
How does it pump with out suck?
I hate everything with a suction cup - F those things and every product made with them . Solely my opinion so if I offended anyone IDC
I have to go to my safe space now.
@@MichaelsFishRoom lol - love you bro
You are correct Michael, the sponges are way too fine. Imo this double sponge crap is over rated. Give me an ATI anyday.
I like the Aquarium Co Op sponges!
@@MichaelsFishRoom I was considering those too. Are they pretty coarse? ATI has a stackable kit. My next experiment will be to stack a fine on top of a coarse sponge. I'll let you know how that works out.
You look like vsauce
