    I thought I had seen it all! I had no idea you could buy these bags for a shop vac,and it fitted over the input,and you still used a pleated dust filter! I don't use my shop vac that much,mainly for small jobs,which is probably why I am clueless about filter bags.

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  Před rokem +1

      @Mike Dunn, I love the filter bags. I use them all the time, except for wet pick up. The cartridge filter clogs so fast with fine dust like drywall dust, grout dust, even saw dust. I started off not using the cartridge filter alongside the bag, but sometime the bag rips then you have dust flying everywhere. But the bags will allow to fill the shop vac up to capacity without loosing suction power. They are great.

  • @davecochran

    Bought one used that had the wet filter installed and have been using it for the last year. Emptied the bucket, used it again, then realized I was in a haze of dust. I guess all the animal hair acted as a filter. Anyway, I now know they take bags. Thanks

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  Před 3 lety +4

      You can get it fairly clean with an air compressor, but I honestly suggest to just get a new one if you are switching over to bags. That way those fine particles aren't still trapped in there and stopping your suction. I would also take an air compressor and blow out the motor really good before you put the new filter on and bags in. Thank you for watching. Well I'm glad to see that I am at least putting them in correctly. I have a newer, less than a year old, Craftsman shop vac. I use it in my woodworking shop to pick up sawdust and chips off the floor. I have a huge Laguna cyclone dust collector also, so the shop vac doesn't get that much use. I only use it to vacuum up the floor occasionally. But I have yet to get one of those damned bags to hold together for more than a week. They always end up tearing where he cardboard slides over the plastic tube like on your machine. I bet I wont get a coffee can full of sawdust and small chips from the planer that the dust collector doesn't get, before the damned bag is torn and my filter is completely plugged up. I have spent in the neighborhood of $60.00 on these bags, and for my money they are a waste of it. The idea is great, but as far my Craftsman shop vac is concerned, they are a joke. I won't buy any more of them and just clean my filter more often. Glad to see that yours works well for you.

      I'm sorry to hear that they haven't been working for you. It makes me real curious as to what is going on. I have used them for years and never had one rip there. @@AroundTheHome1 Now my problem is trying to find out who and where to write to about this problem. I bought the vacuum from True Value Hardware but they can't give me an address or a phone number to call as they don't know who actually owns the company that makes these things. Sears sold out to Black and Decker and another company, don't remember the name of the other company. From what I can find on the internet Black and Decker and the other company have the "Craftsman" tools and things made by several different companies, mostly of which are out of the country. So I can't find out who I need to write to or call to complain about these things and see if I can get some kind of remedy out of them. It's a real mess.

    • @AroundTheHome1
      @AroundTheHome1  Před rokem

      If you are picking up saw dust just go with the regular cartridge filter. I wouldn't worry about a HEPA unless you are picking up something very fine and very irritant, like mold or something. With the standard cartridge filter and the fine particle bag, you are going to get some crazy good filtering. I can suck up ash with that combination with nothing coming out of the vac.

      I double checked my list and removed the Shop Vac one. I did that because Shop Vac went out of business so it was on a third party link now. Craftsman bought out the Shop Vac business and took over their distribution. But back to your question. Now people will have their own opinions, but I think they are very similar. Now, that doesn't count for Black Friday deals or something else like that. Some of those models that were made special for that were total trash.

So, I really don't know what has caused you to have so much trouble with the bags... Sorry to hear that.
