  • Rice comes in many different varieties, with colors ranging from black to purple to red, and you may already be aware of the most common: white rice. Some people claim that rice is not nutritious and will cause you to gain weight. But is this cheap food, a staple for more than half of the world's population, really that bad?
In today's video, we will explore the different varieties and colors to understand the rice health debate.

    ✍️ Summary:
Looking at the size of rice grains:
Rice comes in short, medium, or long grains. Short-grain rice has a chewy texture and is commonly used in sushi.
First on our list is Brown Rice
Brown rice is whole-grain rice without the outer protective shell known as the hull. Unlike white rice, it still has a bran layer and a germ, both of which are high in nutrients.
Now let’s explore nutritious Red Rice
Red rice varieties such as Himalayan and Thai red cargo rice, contain an impressive array of nutrients and beneficial plant compounds.
Black rice is a fantastic source of antioxidants.
Black rice has a rich black hue that frequently turns purple when cooked. Examples of black rice are Thai jasmine black rice and Indonesian black rice.
Now moving on to Wild Rice.
Though wild rice is technically the seeds of aquatic grasses, it is commonly used in the kitchen in the same way rice is.
    What is Polished White rice?
White polished is essentially rice stripped of its husk, bran, and germ using machinery. The bran and germ lose their nutrients and valuable plant chemicals during this process, which extends the product's shelf life.
Finally, when it boils down to picking the perfect rice, it all depends on various factors.
Personal choice, culture, environmental conditions, local availability, and disease and ailments determine what rice you consume. But let’s take this discussion further.

While black rice very likely is healthier than brown rice, the prices online if it isn't available locally tend to be quite steep compared to brown rice, which can be basically the same price as white rice, which is to say, dirt cheap.
White rice is still effectively the cheapest because you could potentially store it dry for hundreds of years before cooking, while bascially any variety with its bran will go rancid in less than a year.

I agree, I have no issues with eating brown/red rice (I havent seen black rice in my hypermarket).
The problem is, I do not know is it free from arsenic or not.
Since now I eat vege/protein first, then only lastly rice. I think it should be fine that I eat white polish rice since I think I should not have glucose spikes compared to the normal way of eating carbohydrates first before vege/protein.

Among the four types of rice, for me, the healthiest is black rice because I believe that black rice is for people wanted to lose weight; it will not spike sugar levels, and its nutrients and white rice are not healthy aside from will spike sugar levels it has lower fiber. None. Rice (and all grains) have phytic acid. Thats the defense mechanism of the seed. Keeps it from releasing nurturance until it gets wet (rained on) and even then it takes hours to release the phytic acid. If you each Rice (or any grain) that phytic acid is also binding to essential minerals in your body and takes them out with waste. All grains are bad for you unless you go through the process of removing the phytic acid.
