- I was amazed to learn that there is a 14-acre orange orchard in Woodland Hills. But not for long as the real estate will be redeveloped soon.
You can read more about Lindley Bothwell here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindley...
You can read about the documentary being made about this orchard:

And read about councilman Bob Blumenthal's efforts to save a 4.6 acre parcel of the orchard for preservation: therealdeal.com/la/2019/07/05...
Great job Brad
I live by there. Thank you for all of your informative videos
You all will miss this when it’s gone. So so sad that this is what’s left and then it won’t be. Shame.😮😢
The price of the land has been pumped so high by bad zoning decisions and an overheated housing market. To me, those that have benefited from that, the state due to sales tax and the town due to property taxes, should be responsible for purchasing the land and bringing it under public ownership. $40m is nothing to those parties. But they won't, because it's more taxes and income for them, they want to see it sold and developed as much as the present owners. Saving such a small area seems a bit of an insult after the income they've made from the rest of the sale.
Like the video, despise the subject. Remember the orchards around Tampa to Corbin on Nordhoff? Continue to pave undervalued Paradise. Thanks. 😑
Here a link to the continuing story of the Bothwell orchard. 1,000 trees are set to be removed from the parcel: www.dailynews.com/2023/11/27/san-fernandos-valleys-last-commercial-orange-grove-is-set-to-lose-1100-trees/
@@bradbell3744 thanks, but l can’t look at it right now. I left that general area in ‘94; visited again in ‘98 and was even saddened by the ‘progress’ l witnessed then! The house l grew up in (that withstood all the quakes) was razed to be replaced by a duplex and it is heartbreaking to even think about.🥺🫢 l’m stuck in Michigan 😬.
Zoners suck. Proving their worth.🙄
