    Yes to black out room (black out curtains)
    Yes lullabies, I will try a white noise and see if that helps.
    Bedroom is safe.
    No props ever, sometimes I wish he had something to associate sleep with. (Me maybe? )
    My son will fight naps but is physically tired and thats why i still try to nap him when I see that. During the day, yes his room is way less pitch black than at night but not even double curtain will make it darker. When he does nap , he ends up napping 1-2hrs and then doesn't want to wake up. I'm having a 2nd baby and just don't want to have to have the same struggles.

      Same here! Ive purchased the 4months sleeping course and we were ready to start, except.... I cannot wait 10 minutes because after 1 minute or so he cries so hard he coughs and chockes on his own saliva! The same happens in a stroller. How can man put to sleep such an angry baby. The whole idea to wait 10 min is for a child who is a bit cranky, not furious.

    I see in the blackout blog post you mention Velcro on the "target pillowfort blackout curtains." Do you Velcro the sides of the curtains to the wall? And what do you do about the top of the curtain?

    Becca, I’ve been following your sleep training program & love it! My nights are full of sleep! But my 7 month old keeps waking after 30 minutes from a nap. Why?

      Hey Claudia!! Such a great question (and a common one!) - since you've been a part of our sleep training programs I would suggest that you copy/paste this to our email team so we can help you specifically troubleshoot through your schedule and ask more questions!! support@littlezsleep.com 💛 Thank you so much!!!

    I do not use a white noise machine for my almost 4 month old for naps. Should I introduce the white noise machine now? They nap for 45mins to 2 hours at a time during the day. Though I've noticed that they have become shorter now that I'm trying to transition them out of the Ollie Swaddle and into a Zipadee-zip. Been trying to do the Zipadee-zip during daytime naps and I've definitely noticed a change in daytime nap patterns. Thanks again for these videos!! I'm def going to be doing some DIY for making the room more blackout dark for the afternoon naps ASAP.

    My son is terrified of the dark. When he wakes up, he freaks out because it’s pitch black. Once I put a night light on for him, it was way better.

    I was always told NOT to make nap time pitch black so the baby can differentiate between night and day / night sleep and naps. Can you explain?

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 4 lety +4

      I've heard this from parents a lot as well, but the truth is that babies know the difference between day and night by 8-9 weeks from due date. By 2-3 weeks we can start being consistent with nap and bedtime routines to cue them for the difference. So we don't have to worry about them getting confused. Their bodies do an incredible job telling them what time of day it is! Lots of light will cause short naps which equal a lot of crankiness and a difficult night. Sleep begets sleep!

    My three month old (2 month adjusted) baby sleeps good during the night but hardly sleeps during the day. Thirty minute to 1 hour sessions all day on and off. Should we keep her bassinet in the same place for both day and night with the same sleeping conditions?

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 4 lety

      Hi Haylee! Wednesday is ALL about Newborns, so stay tuned for that! But at this age I'm not expecting every nap to happen in the bassinet/crib. You'll enjoy many naps on the go or on you...and 1-2 in the bassinet at this age!

    Any suggestions if it's absolutely not an option for complete darkness? We don't have forced air or heat so we must keep the doors open to keep rooms hot during winter and windows open to keep cool during summer. I can't make the whole house black just so my 6 month old can sleep and we're only getting 30 minute naps even if we keep him awake for 3 hours.

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey great question!! In this situation I would suggest the SlumberPod, and you could keep all panels open. The SP has been temperature tested and it is not like a tent that taps heat. This would make it much darker for better naps!! If you're interested I have a $10 off code LITTLEZSLEEP10 when you go to slumberpod.com

    • @cellorocks08
      @cellorocks08 Před 4 lety +3

      So after using the slumberpod for a month it does not work well for a house cooled by a swamp cooler. It gets hot and muggy in there! Keeping the panels open during naps was not working and during his naps it got unbearable in an hour.
      Luckily it works great at his grandma's house with air conditioning, and he's there 2-3 days a week so now it just lives there.
      I got very creative with fan placements and blackout paper shades to keep his room cool during naps.

    What If it was a really bad nights of sleep. Do you still wake them up when it’s time for them to be done sleeping or let them sleep longer?

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před rokem

      Hey there, Hannah, great question! Yes! You could let your little one sleep 15-30 minutes longer in the morning if you would like! Sometimes, if you let them sleep in, you may also need to shift nap time later by 15 minutes and/or cap their nap earlier by 15 minutes so that your little one's bedtime remains the same.

    Wouldn't white noise create an expectation as well? If we're not at home and baby needs a nap (for example, at Grandma's house), won't it make it harder for the baby to sleep since they are now dependent on the white noise?

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 4 lety

      Hey Carrie! Great question! Yes, the baby will nap best under these conditions. That's why I love travel white noise machines or even white noise apps on the phone. It's different from adults who could hear noise in the house, wake up and know, "Oh I'll just go back to sleep!" vs a baby who doesn't comprehend that, and will wake from noise in the house...and be up after 20 minutes!

    How do you remove sleep boobs such as a bottle etc? My baby has a strong sucking reflex to go to sleep but can't hold a pacifier yet

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 3 lety

      Hi Layla! It is totally normal for newborns to have a strong reflex! If your baby doesn't take a pacifier that is totally ok! My newborn course will help you set a great foundation of sleep. littlezsleep.com/newborn
      If you baby is older than 16 weeks, I actually recommend ditching the pacifier as it can lead to broken sleep. I share my thoughts on the pacifier on this podcast! littlezsleep.com/blog/pacifier/

    Becca my baby is a tummy sleeper. If she sleeps in her tummy during naps, it can be from an hour to two hours. But sometimes when I put her for a nap and she turn and falls asleep in her back but she would wake up in 30 or 45 min and can't go back to sleep. Should I change her to her tummy so she can sleep longer?
    Thank you for all the information. Your podcast change our life.

      Hi Rosario! Great question. At 6 months old babies are typically rolling or starting to roll around, which is exactly what we want! I will always say "back to sleep" and then baby can start to choose to roll back-to-belly or belly-to-back!

  • @kikipereira4601

    If 16 weeks is considered a 4 month old... would 24 weeks old be considered 6 months??

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 3 lety +2

      16 weeks from due date is used as a measure since this is when the 4 month "regression" begins--- which is basically the baby gaining more mature sleep cycles! I don't go by weeks after this point, so when I say 6 months I mean months not weeks. Hope that helps!! Thanks for stopping by!

      Hey there! It is very common for newborns to take short naps because they have a hard time connecting their sleep cycles. Here is a video on how to help your newborn sleep! czcams.com/video/uToRpRl70jg/video.html
