    Hi Becca, I do hope you’re still checking the comments because I’d really appreciate some helpful tips with my twins! I really enjoyed your video and it made so much sense and helped to cut through some of the crazy things you can read online! I have boy twins who will be 2.5 years at the end of this month. We have definitely hit a tricky stage with naps. We yesterday reduced their nap length to 30mins from 40mins as we could see it was impacting on night sleep (we have been gradually reducing nap length over the past few months). Bedtime is 6:30pm as in our house a 6:30am wake time works for us. They generally are asleep around 6:45 - 7pm. However twin 2 is waking early - 5:30am and is screaming the place down and won’t settle. Before we reduced to 30mins nap he (and twin 1) were waking in the night. Twin 2 would also take longer to fall to sleep. With the 30min nap they both thankfully slept through the night but like I say twin 2 woke at 5:30am again! I’m therefore wondering what the answer is here? Do we put him to bed early or shorten his nap even more??

    Hi Becca! Used your routines for improving naps and night time sleep and been great. My daughter is 3.5 and still napping. Sounds like probably time to drop the nap. She typically naps 1.5 to 2 hours, often times waking up more cranky than when she went down. Usually doesn't give me a hard time with going down for nap. But when it comes to night time, lately she's so wound up and fights it, once I get her in bed she's singing, calling back for requests and just not ready to go to sleep. Doesn't take hours but not frustrating. Usually asleep between 8:30-8:45 then wakes around 6am. I'll add she's in daycare and not sure how they would drop nap there.

      Hey there, Donna! Yes at 3.5 it could be time to drop the nap and begin offering quiet time. When you do this you may need to offer a 30 minute early bedtime as your little one adjusts to being awake the full 11-12 hour day! If you have any specific questions about this process, please email my support team at support@littlezsleep.com! 💛 We'd love to help you through this nap transition!

    Hi! We have used your program since our son was 6mo, he's now approaching 3 and has recently shown one of the signs mentioned above. He is taking 45-1hr to fall asleep. Yesterday I tried to just cap his nap at 45mins, but apparently, that was still too long because he didn't fall asleep until 8:45pm. His old bedtime would start at 7 and in crib by 730. We just weren't sure if we should drop cold turkey or wean off, also he goes to daycare 5 days a week and will still be offered a nap, but maybe I can request just quiet time for him? I'm looking into it. He also sometimes can take 30-40mins to fall asleep for his nap, he goes in at 1230 and bebops around in there until like 130 and now I'm trying to wake him up by 2:15 max, but he just seems soooo sleepy when I wake him up! But I guess that's expected lol. So, Im not crazy, its time to drop the nap right? ;)

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 2 lety +1

      YES! I would drop the nap and see if daycare can offer quiet time! Some places can move a child to another room that is not napping during nap time. If 45 minutes is still not working, I would drop the nap cold turkey!

    Hi Becca, my 23 month old usually takes a 1.5-2 hour nap a day (12pm) and goes down with no problems. Bedtime (7pm) however, is always a hot mess. She fights and cries and takes an hour to fall asleep and then wakes up really early (5:30). The times she doesn’t nap, she goes to bed with no problem. Should I drop her nap?

    Hi, for the last 3 months my toddler (22 months) has been having trouble falling to sleep. She takes on average around 2 hours to fall asleep at night. She doesn't usually cry, but she's awake in her crib, usually chewing on anything she can find (especially her hair!). At first I thought it was teething, because up until 3 months ago she only had 4 teeth. And every week or two for the last 3 months she has been cutting new teeth. She's teething all now, she has a lot more to go. But I'm not so sure now that the cause for her night time sleep delays is teething. She never wakes up on her own, I always have to wake her up from her nap and in the morning. Sometimes its pretty difficult to get her up. She goes to bed at 7pm, wake her up around 7am, down for a nap 11:30am, and cut off the nap at 1:30pm. What Should I do? Should I drop her nap? If need be I rather wake her up earlier in the morning, than have her bedtime later than 7pm.

      Hey Deanne! I would drop the nap at 22 months. Teething should not cause a big regression to sleep. I recommend my Toddler E-Coaching to help your little one to fall asleep independently!

    What’s a typical age to drop the nap? My 4.5 year old twins take a 2-3h nap during the day and sleep about 10.5h overnight. They will talk to each other or themselves for up to 30min to an hour before they fall asleep for the nap but always 💯 of the time eventually fall asleep. Is it time to drop the nap??

      My kids still do quiet time even if they don’t nap I teach them to stay in their room and read a book. Sometimes they still nap at ages 11 lol but it’s a custom that they resssssttt even if they don’t nap

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Sanda! The typical age to drop a nap is 2.5-3 years of age! If they are taking that long to drop the nap, I would definitely stop offering a nap and shift to quiet time. This will allow them to sleep longer at night!

    Hi there. My son is 2 years and 8 months for about 2 months now bedtime has been a struggle. He wasn’t falling asleep until anywhere between 9:30-11:00pm. At this time he was taking and 1.5hr nap with 8:30 bedtime. We’ve tried adjusting the nap time and length of nap. Now the past couple of weeks sometimes he will take a nap and sometimes he won’t. When he he does nap bed time is still very late, and when he doesn’t nap he goes to bed just fine and will sleep between 11-12 hrs. I feel guilty to take away his nap because he looks so tired by dinner time so I felt I should keep it so I knew it wasn’t because I didn’t offer it to him. I’ve kept trying this long because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t just the 2 year regression. Does it sound like he should drop and transition to earlier bedtime?

I’m wondering if it’s growing pains or nightmares, but she’s not communicating that she’s in pain or scared. She just screams mama in the hallway scaring the life out of my husband and I. 😭 anyone else experiencing this, or know what to do?!

    Naps are bad for children. I have twins. They never would nap because one would fall asleep and the other one would wake them up. We found out that during the day. They had a rough hour during the day. But they passed out every night. Naps would get in the way of our day. If we went to a kids bday party and out kids were tired. We would say tough luck. They would sleep in the car ride home. We had friends who would race home to let their kids sleep at a certain time. It’s a bad habit.

    • @littlezsleep
      @littlezsleep  Před rokem +2

      Hey Mike! Yes! Around 2.5-3 years old naps do impact night time sleep. But before that age we DO want to offer a nap because children cannot handle being awake for that long of a stretch. Too little sleep in children can be associated with attention, behavior, and learning struggles.
