  • Folks are ALWAYS asking for ways to reduce costs on their drift builds. One major way to do so is by getting a more entry-level controller.
Can this CT8A controller really be that good?? I test it to find out!

pro "lol yeah right" tip. The battery telemetry plug can be "and I recommend this" insterted into the deans plug from the esc. If you do it that way, you don't have to worry with it ever again. No matter what battery you plug in, it'll have the telemetry for it automatically. Also, you only need to plug in the red one. You can literally just push it into the actual cord, then wrap it in electrical tape, or "what I did " you can slide over a big enough piece of shrink wrap, to encompass pos and neg plus the telemetry cords all in one much more secure package. Now, I am NOT a genius with electricity, I can't solder for crap, and I don't know much about wiring. When I said you only have to plug one of them in, I in all honesty can't remember which one is required, so just use both, unless you are those things, I said I am not, and already know. To insert the little cord, think of it, like inserting an IV. You want to go in at an angle, and DO NOT want to go all the way through. I don't know if it's a bad thing if you do or not, but I remember the guy I watched telling me to do it the way I described. I will say, I re ran my wiring a couple times, so had to remove and replace those little cords a couple times, and it was no issue, so in summery. Go into the red and black from the esc, at an angle, and don't push all the way through to the other side. use tape or shrink wrap, to secure it all, and plug the othe end into the receiver. Enjoy knowing the exact voltage you have left on your controller and vehicle from the comfort of your screen. BTW, I don't have the fancy ct8a, mines is the ct6a... til Monday lol. I got the hotrc branded one, with a gyro receiver, and a regular receiver, for $50 off of amazon.

I dig it. I have most of my cars set up with a Flysky GT3B. 2 1/8 race cars, 2 drift cars, TT02R, and a crawler. For the same price, there seems to be a lot more ability to fine tune the radio. Do you do any on road racing? I bet with steering adjusting, it would be great for my TT02R. Great video Troy!

Dang, $40 for a color screen and all those channels? I'm gonna be honest, I wasn't thinking too highly of the radio throughout your review bit being that affordable makes it easy to look past all the quirks and odd settings.
Check out the dumborc ddf-350 next. I've been using one on a loaner drift chassis for a while now. It works great. Being a dumbo its got great range and is very reliable. Its got a nice screen and alot of easy to use buttons, with all the buttons and receivers that are cheap and included lighting controls I think its one of the best crawler radios on the market for any price. Its even compatible with futaba 4pm steering wheels
