I work for an armored courier company. The reason Brinks doesn't have two guards on the truck, is because it's a one-man truck. And it's not just Brinks. Loomis, Garda and other companies are doing this too, in order to pinch pennies.

But then they want them to finish their route and upon that add more stuff to their route and be on time at certain locations. If guards end up doing what the safety class showed. They won't never finish their route. Especially servicing the ATM pain in the ass. Especially if you haven't been train on them or the machine goes down.
I say 4 minimum. That’s if they are short on employees. At the end of the day, it’s a high risk job, and I would want a guy with me at all times whether that’s getting the money/deposits, or staying in the truck.
I can tell you from my perspective is that the company did.not want to pay for another officer to be present. They assume the driver could handle the pick ups and as you see that is flawed. They may doctor procedures so that places them.in a position of plausible deniability. Procedures to back in is standard, at least for us in the military so that you have a 180° vantage point. The truck is supposed to be backed into a hard structure meaning that u know nobody will come thru a building but rather more obvious to approach from the front. Just.my opinion

I worked at branch 120 Los Angeles. This branch have 2 men team - driver and messenger. It's depends on the location or high risk area then will have 3 men team . Back in 1990-2010 3rd man is usually a off duty cop or retired cop wanted to make extra money. 3 rd man never touches the money and his job is primarily Guard the messenger.
