Deleting the muffler and resonator on my 2015 f150 5.0 XLT
a couple months ago I made a before and after video about deleting the muffler on my truck. In this video I also remove the resonator and replace it with a 3 inch straight pipe!
Deleted the Muffler on my 2015 F150, with the 5.0 Coyote engine, for a better sounding exhaust. Cutting it off and replacing it with a straight pipe. After deleting the muffler the F150 has a deeper exhaust and sounds very aggressive!
My neighbors will Love it!
It also seems like it improved my fuel milage mpg as well. Not exactly sure if this is the case yet though.
Vehicle mods are not exactly cheap. But by simply removing the mufflers, some people say they get more performance and a more thrilling sound, all by simply loosening a couple of bolts and hangers. If you have money to spend, you can buy a set of better mufflers that are less restrictive than the stock units. This will have the same effect as a DIY muffler delete system but without the added cost. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Did my muffler delete. Got that deep tone you mentioned, butttttt definitely intrigued on the reasonator delete. Sounds so damn good man. Thanks for this video!
Nice man! Sounds just like my borla atak and was probably a lot cheaper haha
Awesome video man, seriously. I have the single exhaust as well with the muffler delete already. Was searching for a single exhaust resonator delete. This was exactly what I was trying to find and hear.
Thanks!
Its pretty damn loud on cold starts and at high rpm
I was thinking about putting a resonator or muffler back on it, its cool for a while but after a while it gets sorta annoying lol
Thanks for watching!
@@Smackalakin I'm gonna sub and follow in case you do anything else to the truck, mine is very similar so I'll be able to check some stuff out on your videos before doing anything. Quick question, when you deleted resonator did it throw any codes? Likely not I'm guessing, because the cats are still on it, but it never hurts to ask.
I appreciate the sub!
And Nope! I’m almost at 200k miles on my truck as well and still no codes.
@@Smackalakin wonderful, thanks a bunch for your time. You've been quite helpful!
Any drone?
I did the res delete a while back but still sound very quiet. Git the pipe to delete it all from Amazon for 21 bucks. Going to throw it on tomorrow hopefully it will give me what I'm looking for.
Yeah back pressure is why they change diameter pipe sizes. I lost a good bit just doing the muffler delete but leaving the resonator. I imagine it’s even more sluggish with both deleted. I love the sound of the muffler delete on mine but my buddy has his like yours now and it’s too loud. Sounds like someone banging on a trash can in my opinion. Just my opinion though. Thumbs up on the vid.
Thanks for the comment.
That’s strange. Ever since I got rid of it my dash had a higher MPG reading.
I’m at the point I want to put a muffler back on it though. To much drone. 😂 🤦♂️
@@Smackalakin I imagine fuel mileage may increase a few ticks. What I mean by sluggish is I can tell mine lost a little low end torque. Which is common opening up the exhaust. That drone is a killer on the ears too. Haha. Sweet truck you got. Later bro
how loud is it with the windows closed going down the interstate at 75-80?
What kind of tires and size you have on this video
Run a Y pipe make duals
How much drone do you have running at freeway speeds.
It’s not bad if I have music playing but it’s at the point I want to put a res or muffler back on lol
I guess if it wasn’t my daily I’d keep it this way cause it does sound pretty mean when you get on it but hearing it every day gets old lol
where did you get your tubing from?
A small exhaust shop in Wichita. Probably any small exhaust shop local to you would sell you some material.
So what should I do...2020 f150
-Do the muffler delete
-Or delete the resonater and put on an aftermarket muffler from amazon (I could leave the stock one though...)
I personally wouldn’t mess with resonators they have a purpose and makes the car rattle when accelerating mufflers just muffles the sound
@@cf1924 I Did the muffler delete with the 3" pipe and corsa dual outlets in black.... the truck still comfortable to drive... not a lot of drone too...besides I live in a crowded neighbourhood... so I thing it's really embarrassing to wake the people at 3am... it's compatible and perfect...pretty cheap compared to these 1000$+ cat-back exhausts.. just 60 bucks at any local muffler shop..hit n' go..thx mate 👍
I'm doing the muffler delete tomorrow. Resonator delete is too much imo. Does that thing drone like crazy now? I've always had exhausts on all of vehicles. I had borla s types on my Vic and hated the highway drone
Yeah the highway drone is getting old lol
Thinking about throwing a magnaflow or something on it lol
@@Smackalakin why not put the factory resonator back in?
If its to loud cut in a 3 in magnaflow. Now do a gas mileage test and let us know .
How did this help or hurt your mpg?
my mpg went up from like 14.7 up to 15.4 and stayed around there.
But now I have 37" tires so its back down under 14.7 lol
@@Smackalakin next question because I'm still on the fence is how's the drone?
I'll bring you my 2011 from hutch and pay you to do this haha
Was thinking of doing this this weekend you ever have any engine lights come on yet? Just worried about no back pressure?
I’ve had my truck like this for almost a year and still no CEL.
I am debating putting a muffler on it though cause the droning gets old.
It does sound pretty good though. Especially if it’s not your daily driver 😂
Okay perfect thank you!
How do they sound if you remove the resonator but leave the muffler?
That’s basically what I have on my truck now. But I have a thrush muffler. I assume it would sound pretty good and not be to loud with the stock muffler.
Hey have you had any white smoke coming out of the exhaust ? Trying to figure out if I messed up my engine by doing this
Not at all...
I can't even think of what would cause that or how that would happen.
@@derson754 I had it straight piped put it back on then did a muffler swap sounds good still has smoke engine runs fine no problems or lights are on 🤷♂️
@@derson754 perfectly fine anytime I check it
Going from a full synthetic oil to a synthetic blend or conventional oil can cause that.
@@derson754 never had a problem with that no lights on no check engines
