  • Came up with a wee DIY rig, with 2mm cord and mini S-biners, to allow my freestanding tent to be pitched outer first. This allows it to be pitched Outer-Only, or for the inner to be attached after putting up the flysheet, keeping the inner mostly dry.

Thanks James. Not entirely my idea...just my own spin on it 🤓

That's brilliant !! That string method is certainly gonna be a lot lighter, that's the first time I've seen that done ✔️ I do tend to use the ground sheet anyway but I'm possibly looking at getting the msr hubba hubba nx 2 ground sheet as apparently that does fit and is a lot lighter than my cheap hikeman, but it is like 50 quid.
Your right about that zip cover, that and it not being a 2 way zip are my only niggles, I wonder how hard or expensive it would be for a seamstress to turn that into a 2 way zip ??
Did you keep the 1p tent ? Anyway welcome to the 2p club, great informative vid mate, oh and thanks for the shout out appreciate it 👍 😀

Ha ha, thanks Mick. It would cost about £40 per zip, and then the price of the zip on top of that...not an option. I did actually make a groundsheet for this set up, from builders plastic sheeting. And wee elastics to clip into the s-biners..weighs in at 160g which is more than I would like 😂

Oh, and no, I didn't keep the 1p. Sold it on. Especially in wet weather having that extra space and for only an extra 400g is much appreciated 🤓
