Thanks! Yea it's just a 50 cfm motor if you want more flow your probably going to change out the fan to something bigger. But that's awesome, utube is a powerful tool!
That's how jobs go.... when it comes to bathroom fans I buy 2 at a time of thr whole units just in case I need to replace it or bent shafts (or banging head over troublesome parts). It seemed like you could have taken a osslating tool out and cut it out and at least it wouldn't be so rusty. Half the time when you get into it your thinking at what point should I have replaced it instead of fighting the old one. Watch I'll start rattling in a month due to that bracket or something you didn't replace. I'm happy to see you back and something besides draining the snake lol. If your ever in the area I'd love to see you and Ray tag team a flip or some cool collaboration. I know if I'm ever in thr area I'd want to meet up with either of you guys!
Anytime I see something with that grill and the people aren't cheap clients it's time for a panasonic humidity/motion fan. Even in the apartments we work on we replace them with panasonics and take the switch off thr wall for mildew control. If people don't have the option to turn it off at least it may stay less moldy. Fyi the panasonics even at 160 cfm ones are super quiet so no excuses.
That's a great video B, I usually just replace the whole thing. TBH I didn't know that you can replace the motor like that without finding the exact replacement motor
Hey. Gotta love it. Some days no matter what I touch, it ends up being a big fkn pain in the ass when it should be straight forward . That's why it puts me in a good mood when things work out good, especially on a Friday. Thanks for the fun video, I'm always looking forward to watch your show😁
You bring back such great memories ... I did that maint for years as a side job at apartments I managed while having a full time job ... Ahh the memories Nice work Brian ... Thx
Obviously I can't see it as good as being there, but it looks as if somebody set a hot curling iron on the toilet seat, and it melted through the top part of it. I'm a retired service manager and have seen that a lot, especially with the small vanities. People would set their curling iron it on the lid, and it would cause the same type of damage. They would also burn up the formica vanity, I've gone into some units where there were a dozen burn mark lines on it.
Ok. Couple of quick tips. On the spacing for the bracket I would have put a flat washer on the two bracket hold down bolts and as for the center bolt if you notice the fin direction you could put a small screw driver or pick in the fin and hold the bolt down to screw the nut on. I also would have took a brush and knocked the knock down out of the fan box especially around the outlet not to mention the outside of the grill.
I'm not done watching the video yet. But I, as someone who cleans air ducts, hates to see painted covers, where you have to cut the paint or caulking. It has and won't be the last time the paint or ceiling has broken off also around the covers. Another thing I hate is when the ducts are not attached to the ceiling from above. And you go to put the cover back and the whole duct moves.
First thing we do when we buy a rental, is rip out those old crap fans and put in the Panasonics. We have some Panasonic fans which are 12 yrs running now, not a single one has needed repair or replacement.
Aye, “Shortcuts make long delays…”. I’ve done two different things in the case of a tight fit like that - thin washers between the bracket and the motor, or drill a small hole in the bracket where it binds (if messing with the bracket itself doesn’t clear it).

I can say I've had les than ten whole replacement go well in 25+ years and multiple hundreds of fans. something always happens, duct is screwed too well or falls apart away from the fan, they've rigged it to only blow into the soffit area, without any proper vent termination, you moving the fan knocks the poorly installed soffit loose(third floor, need 40' ladder). wire entrance in different location and doesn't reach, no vent at all! a non-shyster cannot un-see and hack things back in once found, the homeowners never like the bad news and hearing the repair will cost ten fold now and possibly a week in total. it's often best to "let sleeping dogs lie", vs. "opening the huge can of worms".
the big line in toilet seat is either from rough lid/tank edge and wiggling person on the seat(but maybe using personal products "juicer "(big clive) 🤪🤪 or random things causing wiggling on the seat(shaving/toenails/etc. whilst hatching lincoln logs) 🙃🤡
Look at the bright side, you didn't drop a nut in the sink and have it go down the drain and then have to pull the trap off to get it. Always close the drain stopper in the sink or the tub.
You could have just put a washer or two between the bracket and the fan and it would have given the clearance without putting stress on the end cap of the motor. Don’t ask me how I know this. Lol
really appreciate that you don't skip around the ordeal cutting the video
No problem! I do and I don't lol 😂 it matters what's going on
I carry a box small thin washers and use em as spacers many times 👍
When it doesn’t work the first time, try again and again and again and again and again 😓 “patience is a virtue” Good Job 👍

you are a blessing to me 62 yrs young retired small repairs you helped me repair same exhaust fan, but i don't think it's pushing out enough air

@@thehandymanexperience226 shit, I'll be doing it that way from now on
Exhausts fans are always somthing. Nice job!
U could say that again!! Thanks!!
I've never run into that problem in 40yrs after replacing exhaust fan motors. Wow what a shit show, But, you got it done, great job Sir!!!!
I know, it's crazy right? There's always room for fine tuning. Screw replacing in this scenario. We could only imagine what it involves

Thank man I appreciate it!!. Yea thats why I laugh when people say it's going to take 10 minutes
Welcome back, Brian. Some jobs just stink. You are a great guy.
Thanks Bob I needed that 🙌 lol stupid fans sometimes 😂 🤣
You bring back such great memories ... I did that maint for years as a side job at apartments I managed while having a full time job ... Ahh the memories Nice work Brian ... Thx
Sometimes it's the simplest jobs that REALLY test the patience. Way to hang in there!
Yea for real!!
Put a washer between motor and bracket to relieve the stress from pinching the bearing
Exactly. I was going to suggest rubber faucet valve washers.
I like your 60 grit paper towels!
Lol 😆 🤣 😂 bro I love it , I'm wiping floors down with trees bro 😂
Love your job you do it twice.
I take them apart and clean it up and oil the bearing with 3 n 1 oil and works like new.
everyone struggles with exhaust fans, from the first to the thousandth+ replacement or new install. sometimes they go easy, but usually a PAIN!
Thanks!
Thanks Roy!! I really appreciate it!!!
Since you have been slacking in was going to slam you with a HOLLAND SHOE JOKE but you did not use them ❤I love you brother 😊

Poor Brian. I bet your arms ached after keeping them raised so long?
which is cheaper, you fighting with a motor replacement OR just replacing the fan with a new one for $30?
Agreed! Less than $30 at Menards, just change the whole damn thing!
Me fighting with a motor replacement, cus it takes me forever to change the whole thing out .
Ya, that's a sheetrock ceiling. Changing the whole fan would be a bitch
