  • Worked for me and was totally worth it. There is so much debate on the internet about the 02 delete but it's working fine for me, and you need it anyway for a fuel controller. $30 all in this and apparently it's worth 4whp.

I modified my exhaust also with 4 slots per the BestDualSportBike videos along with the KDX snorkel (better air flow), Twin Air Filter (more air flow than stock), secondary throttle plate removal, pair valve delete and fuel controller with o2 sensor still installed. The KLX now really rips with increased hp! Lots of torque at the 2-4k rpm range which works great in slower technical riding up those rocky areas. I still have the stock gearing. After only 50-60 miles I noticed my Nelson Rigg tail bag mounted on a PMC rear rack was getting hot! The PMC rack was getting hot as well. The exhaust from the 4 slots will overheat anything on the rear and the bike frame adsorbed a lot of heat also. I welded up the slots then drilled 6 holes in the rear of the exhaust around the factory hole. I calculated the hole sizes needed to be the same volume as the 4 slots in the exhaust under the heat shield. Drilling the holes is "not easy"...stainless steel needed carbide bits and lots of time. Noise is still very low, yet performance was maintained and I got rid of the heat problem from the 4 slots. Over 5000 miles on the bike now and it is the best performance without going to an aftermarket exhaust.

I was wondering that. And also wondering why people dont do it on the lower end of the heat shield, that would direct the heat down and out, not up the heat shield towards your rack

The most improvement I've made was removing the secondary throttle plate. No cost at all.

I believe the reason you add the 02 sensor module is so you don’t get the check engine light. That’s the point.....I think...lol
