  • Ian review the Firewire Seaside & Beyond TimberTek Surfboard: www.boardshop.co.uk/surfboard...
The Firewire Seaside & Beyond in Timbertek is the latest version of Rob Machado's epic mid length.
Rob had been interested in a 'long fish' since spending time with Skip Frye who showed him some of his fishes in the 7ft range. Rob's first foray into the' long-fish' was a stretched out Go Fish which worked but needed something extra, but his interest was definitely spiked. His next step was to give the incredibly popular Seaside quad-fish the same treatment; stretching it out and fine-tuning the rocker.
The Seaside & Beyond was born and very quickly became the board Rob never left home without. Rob has been riding his Seaside in pretty much anything from 1 foot beach breaks to barrelling reefs and all ports in-between. Rob's clean and concise quiver currently includes a 5'4 Seaside and a 7ft Seaside & Beyond! "It glides, It turns on a dime and most importantly… it puts a smile on my face" - Rob Machado.
The team here at Boardshop have seen a seismic change in the boards people are asking for and buying. Ever increasing crowds has led a lot of guys and girls to look for something more forgiving than their everyday shortboard and a better paddler and wave catcher than their short and dumpy groveler. Mid-lengths and these longer fish are exploding right now and we predict that the Firewire Seaside & Beyond is going to find a place in many, many quivers. Many will add a Seaside & Beyond to their quiver as a step-down for the smaller or more crowded days and at the other end of the spectrum are the surfers who'll use it as a step up for the bigger and better days when they struggle to battle out through the surf with their longboards or higher volume mini-mals/carpets etc. It might be that you just don't get in as often as you'd like or you're just getting a little older and don't have the fitness you once had...the Seaside & Beyond will definitely fit the bill and most important of all get you riding more waves and smiling till it hurts.
Timbertek construction is the combination of a lightweight EPS core, and sustainably-grown timber deck skins, Firewire's legendary parabolic rail construction, and an Entropy bio-resin hot coat give an extremely lightweight and durable surfboard with ALL of the high performance flex traits of Firewire's existing technologies. Even more impressive, this tech has lead to a significant reduction in exterior lamination significantly further reducing the boards carbon footprint. TIMBERTEK, it's simply High Performance Art!
The Seaside and Beyond comes in just 3 sizes, 6' 10, 7' 2 and 7' 6 with a traditional single to double concave and either Futures or FCS II fin plugs.
The staff here have surfed pretty much every surfboard in the Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards. We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to info@boardshop.co.uk or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.

I find timbertek (at least in shorter boards) to be really stiff....(innuendos ahoy), may be better in a longer board like this, but definitely a very different feel. Great review as always 🤙🤙

Think you might of just convinced me to go for the timbertek, been holding back from buying one for wondering if they may be a bit stiff on the turns ,definitely not getting the Lft as I've heard so many times their prone to damage and early wear and tear...

Nice. Mine just arrived. Also got the 6'10 as I ride a 5'7 Seaside and figured this would be for those really crowded days and I can also use it as a step up. What kind of conditions have you ridden it in?

@@justsurfinwilldo1506 lft lasts so long still more than regular boards. Have a Vader for like 5 years and it’s fine

What do you recommend for fins? I ordered the 7'2" Timbertek. Thank you for reviewing both the LFT and TT!

Any reason why Rob M wouldn't do it in Helium? Kind of what I was hoping for.

This or the Greedy Beaver?!? Which will make a better mid length for SoCal?

How durable is the timber tek now ? I had a baked potato in this build when they first came out yearsssss ago and it started to split on some of the joints quite early on it’s it’s use. Are they any better now ?? Because I’m tempted as LFT is too fragile. Cheers great reviews too.
