As an alliance warlock on a PvP server back in 2004... I was nearing a moment that I had been dreading: hitting level 20, and having to make the journey to the Barrens to seek my Succubus pet. I stayed up until 3am one night just so I could make the journey from Booty Bay while as few Horde as possible were on. It was very tense and I hated every moment of it. I consulted Thottbot (lol) to get a map and wrote down directions.
My troll warrior... I remember when i got this quest in Razor Hill, to take the recruit letter to Far Watch Post. I saw the map and that was in The Barrens. I was like: Barrens? I remember it from W3. Then that warrior quest, to find that Orc on the hill. He got that quest for an awesome axe. You needed to kill Quilboars, and recover a box of supplies. I done it. Then i hitted the Crossroads. The adventure began. I was very suprised how often the Crossroads were attacked. And Mankirk's Wife...
i spent probably 60% of my leveling in wow in the barrens(only got to 30 and my acount got cancelled) back around when bc came out. just got back into it and now barrens chat is dead. that was one of my favorite parts of the game
Oh, those mining trips all the way from Org to Thunder Bluff and back... Now and then somebody would say Crossroads was under attack... This must be the song I've heard the most in the whole game aside from Thunder Bluff and Org.

Was so happy at lvl 40 as well!! played a shaman troll and was so happy when i got my mount! think it costed a 100 GOLD at the time, i bought it and 2 days later the price went way down :D lost all my GOLD XD
@dedder15 naaah you are wrong.. I was late for job everyday when I tanked all of 20men raids at late nights, it was awesome tough, but not sleeping at work :(
Well wait for the next expansion, all horde players will relapse when they visit the barrens... I'm looking forward for a new and improved barrens chat.
Oh why have you made everything easier Blizzard! 1. I was so exited to finally get my mount at 40! then they moved it to 20. 2. Oh yay I finally got a new Warlock pet! they automatically come to you now. 3. Finally i got enough gold to learn this cool spell! Free and you insta-learn it now.
maybe with Ghostlands.... you can do reputation with Tranquillien and you can take some armor. I did it... i said goodbye Barrens quests for do this rep

Mankrik's Wife is south of the Crossroads, in 1 of like 3 houses. Keep going south, you'll see them.
The stolen silver is west of Northwatch Hold.
Brings so many memories, sadly I had to leave the game because it took over my real life, I want so bad to go back and play !.
