My son lost control...

  • This week on Beleaf in Fatherhood, our two oldest sons, Theo and Uriah are in hockey training. These two are extremely competitive and it's the way they've always been. However, it's important to me as a dad that they learn how to work together and support each other the way brothers are supposed to. I love that they challenge one another and I genuinely believe it has been the driving force behind a lot of their growth, but more than anything I want to encourage them both to be one another's greatest supporters. #BELEAFINFATHERHOOD

Theo’s smack talk is still quite honorable in the raw unrefined mode. He definitely sounds like a coach / leader /motivator. As they age, hopefully Theo’s ability to uplift those around him will develop and incorporate all the ways in which other accept motivation (cheers, jeers, cares or blank stares lol! The gift to teach and guide is a beautiful one predicated on being and wonderful student and learner. Uriah may come to appreciate having a big brother that will encourage him. to be his best self- best in patience, or hockey or efficient smack downs. No matter what, he Will be affected lol

  • @erinfarmer960

Listening to Theo’s trash talk, while antagonizing, a lot of it almost sounds like a tough coach - he’s pulling the facts out from the previous play telling you how you messed up (which is antagonizing to hear from an opponent, but coming out of a coach’s mouth is really valuable). I see that as leadership/coaching potential! My sister and I would always get frustrated with each other when we were younger if one was “coaching” the other - neither wanted to hear it. Now I seek out her advice because she can see me in a way I can’t!

Team Theo all day!!! In the videos I've seen, that young man displays love for his siblings, intelligence and physical excellence! When he helped Anaya after she fell in the water and continued to protect her from the waves or when Anaya started singing "twinkle twinkle" while he held baby Uzi and he looked at her and said "my two babies"...pls Theo's all heart! I love that kid. Let Theo's confidence fuel his actions, young Uriah was feeling it too when he said "that was too easy" after he scored.
Also, I don't believe Theo lacks physical structure just because Uriah is heavier than him. And don't make it seem like Theo can't defend himself, just becuz it hasn't been seen doesn't mean it doesn't exist. He's a protector, he's not going to hurt his brother but if pushed he will shut it down. Aquarians do not play.

I immediately thought of the “Love To Win/Hate To Lose” video!! I used to be very much like Uriah growing up; I quit trying to learn how to ride a bike or swim because I wasn’t immediately good at it. But over the years I’ve learned that some things take more time, effort and investment to truly excel at. The most poignant thing is that you’re teaching your children to never lose control. Never allow someone’s words to exert that much power over you that you resort to the physical.

Beleaf, you are a good dad. That being said, I know siblings have to learn to get along, teamwork etc. But sometimes, man, hands gotta get laid.😄
I have five siblings. We were taught not to fight, to talk things through. But seriously, there were times when a good thumping had to go down.

How do you not have a show on tv?!?! America needs a show with a family such as yours, where everyone communicates, tries new things, disciplines without physical pain, and the kids are just such a joy to watch. You teach so many wonderful life lessons. You are an incredible family. And your music is so good!!!

I seriously love how you are a student of each of your kids. Meaning you study them, their personalities, their behavior, their learning styles and their attitudes. You are walking their journeys with them because you are understanding what makes each of them tick! That is extraordinary! Bravo! Keep up the great work!

Theo's dexterity and hand eye coordination is impressive. Uriah just needs a little time to catch up. Or if hockey is not his thing, he's built like a little tank and would probably be great at Pop Warner Football. I thank God that I was introduced to sports as a child. Learning in real time that hard work and dedication truly pay off. Teamwork makes the dream work. Plus I was able to develop life long friends in the process. Thank you for your videos Beleaf. They always brighten my day.
