Real Talk, I apprecaite and love how SOLGW and Mike arent afraid to speak there mind on 2A matters and really enjoy his talks on tolerences and QC for the AR. Now, that being said, Ive owned, handled in person and working at a gun shop recieve transfers have seen more issues then not on all the things "opposite" of what he speaks about. Loose rails, loose gas blocks, 3 bad barrels, many other small issues, but are issues opposite of what good QC is. Seen 3 Sage uppers with loose rails and one also loose gas block. Kinda Sad, when one talks is one thing, but the actions are different. Now in this collab, other then FCD parts and logo, its simply SOLGW QC
Considering the price of SOLGW ARs there should be nearly 0 lemons. They're really expensive for the parts they include. I mean its just a Rosco barrel with a Zev rebranded rail, probably a microbest bcg...maybe someone else makes their bcg I don't know. The ambi controls on the lower is a nice touch but I could just get a CMT lower that has all that stuff. I don't understand what they offer over a company like BCM. BCM uses good quality parts and good qc and doesn't charge what SOLGW does. So, I really don't understand SOLGW pricing. But hey, some people just like to flex. I know a lot of them. I don't understand it personally, I'd rather have ammo than a random brand for clout.
I hope you see this comment. If you want the wobble improved _significantly_ - try out some HK MR556 takedown and pivot pins. They are around $100 for both pins but they will immediately show themselves to be worth the cost once installed. I bought one set to improve one of mine, and was amazed at how well they did their job. Now I am slowly updating all mine to them.
Thanks for the tip. I'll see if I can't find some! Though I am less concerned with receiver wobble, since it really doesn't cause any issues. But I def don't like how the roll pins are so loose
@@regulardudegungearreviewsh3132 I had a black SOLGW upper that had a FA roll pin bore that was not as tight as usual. The roll pin could be pushed in half way by hand and then needed tapping in to fully seat. I dug through and measured a bunch of my roll pins and found one that was a little larger and it fit much better.

I have the FDE ano version of the set. Same issue, loose fit on barrel extension, forward assist roll pin went in really easy, and loose fit with on the upper lower. Then I got the FDE ano URF v3 to see if the billet upper will fit better. It fits even worse. On URF v3, barrels fit terribly loose, EPC doesn't latch well ( a slight bump and the port door opens), charging handles fit loose, and even worse fit with the LRF lower. Somehow, it's acceptable when I asked about it. I don't recommend these FCD/SOLGW anodized sets at all. Considering that these are matched sets and high price of these things, buyers shouldn't need wedges, bigger pins, etc for them to fit better.
I gotta ask, have you tried any other upper and this particular lower? I wonder if the tolerance is good when using Aero upper, but this green anodized lower. The color is beautiful
Look at it like this for those that dont understand. If the tolerences are too loose, what that means is tension and shake in those steel pins inside and aluminum reciever will only make more slop over time. Use a adj screw as some receivers have or acu wedge ans make it top tight, again same thing exists. Snug fit only, too much on either side, if you shoot alot only can get worse
Even for a person with long neck and being tall, 1.54" mount is the best, so I agree I ran higher scope rings on other scopes, and it really is some awkward configuration, you always fight to find that eyebox Anything above 1.54 works for red dots where you don't care about cheek or chin weld. Some don't even touch the buttstock while using stocks with red dots, but you will have way less recoil control. I advice against it. Unless you run night vision, then you have no other choice but run higher mounts, or you will bump into the buttstock with nods
Check out the BALDR light bodies from Valhalla Tactical. They make them for the Rein and they have a mount system that is integral to the body and it allows for more adjustability as far as getting your light as streamlined as possible. They also allow you to run a 21700 battery, which increases run time by 50%.
I’ve actually had to smash a roll pin for the forward assist. Lay it on something hard give it 1 whack. A bitch to get it to start after that but it helped
I fixed the play in my receiver with a bread clip folded in half . Ya I know its not very Gucci but its OK I own a Colt LE 6921 , it can take it : ) Couldn't your roll pin problem be fixed with a bigger roll pin ?
Someone made a post complaining about the same thing in the SOLGW Owners Facebook group. One of the reps, I believe he's the marketing director(?) told me to reach out to him. I asked about a larger roll pin. He said that my issue definitely isn't acceptable and that they are working on a solution. He told me to submit an RMA and they would either have a fix for it or they would replace the receiver. I just haven't done it yet.
That roll pin is 😅😅 I would test another roll pin pretty sure my FCD LDFA came with a few extra If not I'd personally email SOLGW to at least let em know... maybe get a free upper Sweet looking FDE Contrast btw Curious where you got all the FDE FCD Parts?
Super disappointing to see this sort of QC issue coming from SOLGW. Had been thinking about a 13.7 build from them but think I'll look into BCM a bit now. Great revirew though.
I’d guess if you take your upper & put it on a SOLGW forged lower it may fit tight or tighter. I’ve been going back and forth between a SOLGW forged lower or the FCD & I know with the FCD it won’t be tight even in the black. That is a problem when you have one part that is machined, and one part forged. I’m guessing the SOLGW forged upper is finished to fit the Forged lowers & they don’t run a special batch to fit the CNC FGC lowers. There may be a difference in the anodizing as well. I can see a big difference in the black anodizing between my SOLGW uppers & my Aero & BA. The SOLGW is much thicker, but in black. I think by watching this I’m going to just get the forged lower. That is a good looking build, I dig it.

I had the upper first and had it riding on an LMT MARS-L lower. Fit was good. I have also tried an LMT forged upper on the black FCD lower and fit was also good
SOLGW said that's not normal and that I should submit an RMA. I was going to try a coiled roll pin and see if that helped. I really don't feel like breaking down the upper to send in to them
Legit build.....im doing a build currently. Radian lower. Mdt scs stock.g national match trigger Proof barrel with riflespeed gas block . But I csnt decide on upper receiver or rail....normally run bcm uppers for thermal fit and geissele or bcm rails.... But for this build since ive gone premium everywhere i feel bad putting bcm blem upper on it hahahha... Considering solgw broadsword upper. Their normal upper...ir the lantac uar..... My requirements is thermal fit for the barrel....forward assist. But id like to find one that is thermal fit and has great upper to lower fitment.... Any suggestions welcome

But if this isn't the case I might stick with bcm because I know they have given me the accuracy im looking for...but I was hoping to see if better upper to lower fitment made a difference Love your optic setup im going with the exact same thing ...
Bcm you need a torch to install the barrel...which I love... builds have been fantastic in the accuracy dept.....just wish it had better upper to lower fit.....
@@prone_wolf8871 barrel was slip fit. The sloppy fit between the two receivers is only applicable to the green and FDE ano. I guess it's much thinner than standard black
thanks for the info....I guess if I want to move away from bcm uppers I need to test to see if non thermal fit is just as accurate as the bcm have been.... I'll pop my barrel into the new upper. .... then set it into the bcm to see if there is noticeable difference..

Get a roll pin kit. Put a bigger one in it. Boom.

I just put a BCM MK2 upper on the Geissele Super Duty lower. FDE cerakote on the upper with the lower in DDC. It's a slick rig! Next one will be FCD!

Just put a tiny piece of tape on the edge of the lower. When you put the upper on it will be rock solid. I use gaffers tape.
Have your FCD take down pins cerakoted or get a spare set. I had Redacted Concepts do mine in ODG 6.2.

I imagine if the billet lower was matched with a billet upper over the forged upper there would likely be no wobble at all.
I have the FCD billet upper on my 18". It still wobbles on that one. It's the thinner anodizing that causes all the looseness all around

jp rifles makes those take down pins you spoke of. Have them and work pretty good but not on something with this much slop.

My fcd lower was pretty damn loose with my sr15 upper, and that upper is normally tight on every other lower I have.
Was that with the FDE or ODG anodized one, or the standard black anodized?
