I've made my short "career" out of editing for CZcams, which is an entirely different beast than this. Love seeing the contrast between "jump cut, max engagement, super fast paced, made for younger CZcams audience" and what goes into something much more "professional," dare I say "cinematic"
    Super helpful as always!

  • @TylerWells

Shots you'll get when Tyler's running 200m - showing lack of flexibility at starting line, significant pace fall off after 40m, cramp around 170m, limping over the finish line with some choice words, laying down in the middle of the track after, closing shot of ambulance pulling up

Very awesome to see the difference in the way it’s shot. When he is performing and focused the camera is on the gimbal. Almost portraying how he is locked in. Then at the beginning and end it’s hand held almost giving the audience the feeling of feeling shook seeing the task before him and trembling after finishing the lap.

Things like focal point continuity… are these things that you’re aware of and paying attention to when you shoot?
I’d love to understand what the main things are which you think of in the 5 mins before you hit record.
As a filmmaker just starting out it’s easy to get overwhelmed even with a lot of pre-planning. 🙂

I love the attention to detail and that you stay aware of things like which arm is raised at the end of shot C compared to the start of shot D. It's kinda like in a movie or show when they cut scenes during dialogue from a person smiling and in the next scene they're stone faced even though the audio carried over. I don't know the technical terms for all that but you know what I mean haha.
