@OohBuntu I didn't make this video. I've just written this comment to make this video easy to use as a reference.
Thanks
u forgot this 8:07 when u finished ur project and almost rendered
Thanks Bro
finally a video that actually teaches me narrative techniques, bored of all those vids that just repeat over and over the same things and channels copying each other, great work Parker, I’m a proud subscriber of yours
This!
Do you have some recommendations for further narrative techniques? I'm looking for this also.
What app does he use????????💁♀️

hey Parker, it's me Edward from Budapest, Hungary/Europe - there are no words how thankful I am. You are the one who also gives me new power, energy, motivation at all to do stuffs and you are still the number one for me! I remember your videos have been the very first ones to me which encouraged me to believe in myself and I can watch tons of other tutorials... the way you explain and demonstrate is the best all over the world! I am so thankful for you to share these cut and editing techniques, greetings from the sunny Budapest :)
I love the confident and concise way you describe everything. That’s a skill few can master. You have a new subscriber. 👍🏽
Loved the new setup Parker! Such an insightful episode. Thanks a lot for uploading :)
Ya
From when did mayank has got this intrestes
This site has changed my whole experience in filming. This is the ideal film school for us who can't access a film school but have passion for the industry. Thanks so much. You are such a blessing.
The quality of your videos... wow just blew me back, Absolutely incredible. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
YES! I have been looking for a video like this! I love those seamless transitions, but they don't work with movies. Thank you so much Parker!
Everything about this video is really informative, people like you help us (who can't afford to go to film schools) learn a lot of things about video editing and Cinematography, Thanks Parker.
When you're watching the how to videos online, one after another, after another, every now and then you get to one that is so well made you pay attention, notetake nearly every single word from it, watch it twice through, and even send it to a few friends. This is one of those. Very, very well made, excellently presented. Thank you. The hard work and quality of this video has me considering purchasing your larger online class after I'm done with a few others that were worth purchasing.
How did you read my thoughts ?
Very very useful!!!! Thank you!
These are some amazing tips that I will use when putting together my DR honeymoon trip I have been putting off due to lack of editing skills.
Smash cut was the new things learned here and always these guys teach everything new❤️
I am really impressed by how you employed these techniques in you short video. A really simple way to tell that you're hella great of a filmmaker. Subscribed!
Love the honesty and straight forward nature! Also the humor is light and the editing is so on point!!
Great video Parker. This is so true. Most pro videos don't have a load of fancy transitions unless necessary to the scene and story. The editing is there to serve the story. Excellent video mate.
This is a great video. I made that same cross fade mistake in the beginning years ago....lol. I already use so many of these, but kinda just learning as I go. LOVE understanding it and picking up some more to help in my edits. THANKS so much for sharing! 😀😃🎨
Wow! Tuning in to this channel is fun! So so many things to learn! I feel like im enrolling to filmaking, though im just creating tutorial videos for my class.. Parker Walbeck thanks a lot man, you’re one of the best!
Thank you so much Parker, please consider making more tutorial videos in the future, you are helping a lot of us. :)
your tutorials are the whole another level!!
Facts! What’s your favourite?
L and J cuts are by far my favorite transitions between scenes. Audio is often underutilized in transitions, and that’s a shame.
Fully agree!
Yep! Audio matters as much if not more than the video when transitioning in many scenarios!
sometimes when i edit the client will tell me "there is an error here, the audio should start when the clip starts".... i just sigh and do as the client wants.
It’s so much more fun to use mix it up!
Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart! There are a lot of tutorials on how to make transitions but this one is truly the best.
One of the best videos I’ve seen on hollywood transitions, well done 👍🏽 Parker. Thank you so much. I’ve learnt a lot from you. Keep up the awesome creative tutorial videos.
Just to expand a bit on #5. Its important to think about eye tracing when cutting on action. You want the motion to continue into the new shot as well as the eye moment. That means that the point of focus of the two shots should be at approximately the same place so the eyes don't jump around. I frequently use the flip effect when cutting on action to get the right flow.
Just a tip for new editors.
Cool. Thank you.
Thanks! They did address that in their music video shot when a guy jumps into the air and they come down, they worked on matching the eye focus. He didn’t mention it here but that’s a great point.
This is world's best tutorials about cuts
For real! What’s your favourite transition?
@@jv8studios The spin, it always turns everybody's head's ...
Good to see you again Parker..
Thanks for the amazing class! You ROCK!
We love you Parker sir, lots of love from India..
Wow! in 14 minutes the whole theory of editing, very cool!
This is probably one of the most important "Film Editing Tips" videos I have ever watched. Keep up the great work!
I have never found a video that explained all the cuts so beautifully. Thanks so much. I understood clearly what these cuts do. Nice video.
I did not notice those invisible cuts in the movie 1917. Crazy.! Great tutorial Parker
Thank You Parker. I am an up & Coming Director/Editor these tips are very valuable. I also will be using these tips while creating vlogs & Videos for my CZcams channel as well. Again Thank You !
This video is better and more informative than watching hundreds of videos. Thanks Parker🌹 You’re the best❤️❤️
So Good to hear from You❤️🙌
Superb video 🔥

Another one of your tutorials makes it to my "Filmmaking Tutorials" playlist, what a surprise, I didn't expect that at all... (this was the sarcasm cut) 😂
Bro thank you for the video its actually beneficial - But loool i actually want to see that short film now.
Agreed, has it been published?

I'll have to watch many times this class . A lot of information, guys, amazing job.
Guys you taking CZcams more seriously now. I can see a lot of work putting on these videos. By the way congrats with 1M FTF family.
I think crossfades, are good for wedding videos. Well used they give this dreamy look.
This is gold. Thanks, man!
Good one Parker, super resourceful.
Before this video I was a fan. Now i’m a air conditioning.🎬🎥
Parker is the only person I don’t need to watch in 2x speed
I have no idea who that girl is but she's hilarious.

Amazing video! Not only it's very informative and helpful, but the comedy in your "examples" makes it very easy to watch. Thanks a lot!
Great Video Parker!
Now I get to see the edits of the 1917 movie in a different perspective
you little cuthunter
😅
Like that one person who studies cite before hand and is the one shouting in the movie theatre “oh my god bad cut bad cut” or “is it the end already they just used dang cross fade!”
i absolutely love ur vids! so inspiring to small youtube creators like me!
This is called Quality Content.
Superb man
I love your style of teaching, thanks for this great overview. ❤️
Anyone else likes the video before watching?
Solid stuff mate!
Best !!!!!
This was thorough, informative and very useful - cheers Parker. It was entertaining too, let's not forget that!
Invaluable tips Parker, thanks a lot!
8:07 : Me when I finally hit the render button after a long edit.
BTW amazing video, great information.
Or like in my case, when I finally got a clue of how to start editing a video (blank page blockade).
08:07 that's me after finally finding the needed inspiration to start editing a video that should've done 2 weeks ago.😅
Seriously this video had me laughing unexpectedly at so many points 😆🤣👏
Sooooo helpful man. Empowering. Thank you
This channel is worth subscribing.
Thank u Parker for all these informative videos
When I started editing, I would naturally try to implement J and L cuts before I even knew there was a name for it. It just seemed like something that would transition clips smoothly.
I came here for this comment. I've actually figured this one out myself when I started editing podcasts and sitdowns, and it's an amazing way to keep the pacing going
I had not previously seen any value in an L cut, and I hated the jump cut because I found it disturbing. Now I see the L cut's value, and you've shown us how a jump cut doesn't have to be annoying. Thanks for all the other ideas as well.
You’re amazing!!! I learn a ton from your videos everyday. Thank you! ❤️
FIIIIIIRE . Thanks Parker! Easy and simple! Love how you kept it moving and informational my guy! THANKS!
After watching this video. I'll be like ooh that's a hard cut, ooh that's a seamless cut, watching a movie. 😂
8:44 did you masked out the background?? If not how did you do that??
I like it- really good rationalizations on the whys with the context as well... Nice work man.
Awesome video! Informative. I learned new terms. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Now I'm gonna have to change all my made up terms for these cuts to what they are actually called
thanks for that one... How to light up that keyboard like in the beginning of the video?? :)
i think the way youre doing is wrong
smartphones will be better in this area..
they will ake a better job
in filming ...no professional dslr cameras will work..no quality requies..
everything in future will works on smartphone cameras and the software
did you think about ?
a wedding movie coud make out a smartphone today..i coud do it if i want...
What are you talking about? Is that an answer to the mans question? 😂
Just found this channel and it's awesome! I'm getting more and more into filmmaking and your videos are so helpful. 🙌😍
As usual, very helpful! Thank a lot
8:07 crazy dude

You have a movie mistake here 7:17
The camera guy. U could fix that in aftereffect by making a background on the glass reflection...
Very clever 👍😊
Haha, nothing get's past CZcams.
TBH...This movie mistake is unnoticeable because the audience will more likely to focus the character
Thank you so much, this is literally gold.
What a fantastic video. Really helpful for those of us trying to up our game. Thank you.
The difference between Parker and Peter McKinnon is insane. Parker is cinematic and focuses on the story, Peter just wants to be "cool".
Watch PMK's Style to do videos - its like the test. PW explains it. ;)
McKinnon is primarily a photographer, Parker is an actual videographer. Also Parker brings valuable content, after each of his videos you’re left off a bit more savvy. McKinnon is more interested in being an online persona and being a cool hip guy, to me he comes across as fake, it’s why I haven’t been able to follow.
Superb.. Keep up the pace...
Awesome!! So detailed explanation with sequence great work👍
I like editing, i always making editing almost with kinemaster and picsart..phone😅😅

Thank you. Fantastic video and very educational.
Man I loved this video so much! This should have 10 MILLION VIEWS, it's super valuable information
"Punch the screen Cut" or "Facepalm the camera Cut" are overused and cringy in my opinion.
Amazing material
Thank you very much !!
this is one of the best tutorials on youtube 🔥, thanks bro 🙏
The last cut was amazing, thank you for the tutorial, you are always the best when it comes to this
Great content Parker. Thank you for sharing this.
Oh great video Mr. Walbeck. Very professional
Amazing videos man.keep it coming.
Great work again. Glad you mentioned not to overdo certain cuts.
Great video as always! Loved the last two
btw, congratz for the 1M !!
