Ahhhh……payed by Creality! No questions anymore!
@@petermarkk1408 There was no payment, I said how I feel about the printer. No bias as you are implying.
All mine needed was four "star" style lock washers (so cheap online I just buy assortments for bench stock as I do with other hardware) to prevent the bed wheels from loosening. I only wasted one Benchy and a few bed levelling prints then was immediately making useful parts. I'm a lifelong mechanic, technician, etc but this is my first printer as metalworking had priority. There are enough shop and utility uses for printing it will pay for itself in a few weeks. I used paper live live leveling which was low effort. I ran the wheels up to firmly compress the springs after installing the star washers to give reasonable adjustment range. A hotend upgrade, springs etc are trivially cheap so I bought in advance for installation at leisure.
Definitely worth sorting out the bed wheels. I ended up getting a third-party PEI bed too for more consistent adhesion. Decent printer once you get it level!
That's a useful comparison, thank you.
I have the Prusa, and despite being envious of the larger build area, my priority was on not fiddling about with the printer and not buying something I immediately want/need to upgrade, so I'm glad I went with the Prusa. Plus I actively enjoyed building the whole thing from parts, it was satisfying and interesting. (And printed Benchy perfectly first time.)
I loved the build process and I thought it would help me with future troubleshooting. Turns out, it did. Out of interest, what do you print?
My Creality 3 S1 plus has performed great. My first 3d printer a few months ago. Outside of some firmware issues, the machine has just worked and produces clear parts even on long prints like 56hrs.
Glad to hear it. I've definitely appreciated the extra print area. Firmware has been okay for me so far, it's just the bed that seems fussier than the Prusa. But I've bought a double-sided PEI alternative that hopefully does the trick!
@@ATribeCalledCars Which part would that be and how well did it work for you?
Currently looking to get into 3d printing, great timing with your video 😊
Happy to help if necessary, it's a great hobby but definitely not the easiest to learn.
@@ATribeCalledCars Thank you!
@@ATribeCalledCarswhy didn’t they ever come out wit an ender 3 s1 max 🤔
I was so confuses when i heard the intro because i only ever saw you in snowrunner vids.
I thought i was having a stroke lmao
Haha yes I've done some non SnowRunner videos, hidden in the back catalogue.
Do you know the distance between those alignment pins on the back of the bed for aligning the spring steel build plate?
Is the frame rigid enough and is the working field stable ?
Nice comparison! I have an S1 Pro and love it, but would be cool to get a Prusa too. It's too bad Creality didn't include a PEI bed for this printer. You gotta have PEI.
Thanks! It's probably the worst downgrade from the Pro but at least there are some affordable replacements. The Prusa bed is excellent.
Have you tried a G10 sheet? ( Fibreglass) Prints stick well , and after it cools the prints lift off without having to pry them off?
I am currently using a 1.5 mm thick sheet which can flex a little if required but I haven't needed to remove the sheet to get a print off.
PEI is a better choice over a PC one. I can't stand Glass as it has its own set of issues. I get my G10 sheets from a knife making supplies company in Australia. The G10 sheet is used as a layer in the making of knife handles for those who didn't know.
@@jayson8118 Not tried fibreglass, sounds interesting. I'm not keen on glass either but I did buy a third-party PEI that seems good so far. I basically print everything on the Prusa one and with no issues, even PETG. Though I don't think I'll risk it with PC.
Hi.You explained it but I didn't understand it very well. Do you have the opportunity to shoot a short video? (bet levveling for s1 plus
Huh, very interesting, I can't think of what I might need a 3D printer for but it looks cool
How is it that I watch your videos for Snowrunner and you have 3D printer videos as well? (which I also do) That's crazy!
Nice, which 3D printer? I absolutely love the hobby and want to make some more automotive and sim racing printing videos. Got a few on the way that have been ongoing for a while.
@ATribeCalledCars cool. I have an Anycubic Mega X. Yeah it's a great hobby for sure. I think it would be cool to design a modded truck for Snowrunner and then be able to 3D print it afterwards.
Did it get shipped from within the UK or did you get stung fro import duty?
I believe it was included but I got from Creality directly for review. I didn't go too much into pricing other than to suggest alternative options as pricing, taxes and delivery varies so much between countries.
are you compensating for something with that + sized printer?
I'm very pleased with the size of my, erm, baby Yoda, I'll have you know.
One of the “downside” of this setup is that Creality used the same “base” from the regular size printers. This made the frame to mount outside ( 6:54 ) with two screws each side. This may not be as stable as the regular size printer, where the frame sits fitted within the base. But I didn’t notice any issue with my printer and the extra inches is worth it.
How can you put a glass bed on this priter it has the screws on the back of the plate and you cant slide the glass bed all the way back
You don't need to go all the way back, will print fine.
I feel like I should have one, but have no idea why.
Not many people need one but they are awesome! Although prepare to lose your free time when going on a print binge.
I just bought one for 245usd, you think i got a good deal?
If it was looked after, yeah. It's a solid printer once you set it up correctly and learn how to use it!
First besides the time bending dude above me
Clearly they are back from the future.
