    Although I hear and see your frustration, I actually liked this video. You definitely bring up a lot of valid points. Dealers and Manufacturers really need to offer more demos for potential customers to test. Especially the big ticket machines.

      Yea that is for sure. i can understand giving the current conditions as to why there might not be any, but to outright not offer it at all is a bit ridiculous. the dealer i bought the scag from dont even carry demos/loaners because when they used to, one never came back from the field. so their insurance wont allow it no longer

    Man I feel you on nearly all these points. The oil filter blew my mind for a 13, mower. Beats the hell out of my old dixon. I'm just a home owner mowing about 4acres mine does seem to cut good. The seat to me is amazing but I'm comparing it to a 97 dixon. I picked mine up mostly for my dealer. Love the service department. I started mowing mine with the deck almost all the way up 3 years later and man it's seemed to really choke out the crab grass. I really enjoy mine. Had to buy mine during covid when you couldn't get anything. Delivered 2 tiger cats one cheetah and 1 turf tiger when I got there Friday after qork the tiger cat 2 with the kawasaki was all that was left. Was going for the vanguard. Overall I'm happy runs and starts really good. Changing the oil does piss me off.

    • @BioHazardra
      @BioHazardra  Před rokem

      I think if I could have gotten the 32 vanguard I would have liked the mower more but my biggest point I didn't like was the fact that it rared up too easy on hills for me. I think the main problem with the cut quality was just the lack of horsepower but I don't know for sure. I've tried skaggs multiple times and never have like them I just don't think they're brand for me

    I run a 61" Spartan with the carbureted FT730V and it' has performed well for me. It does have a Parker drive system, which according to my dealer makes better use of the hp of the engine. Less hp needed to drive and more hp to the blades.

    • @BioHazardra
      @BioHazardra  Před rokem +1

      if its transaxles instead of pump and motors like the scag i had was, they do take less hp to run. i have a spartan now as well that i need to make a vid about. i got a stander with the 37hp big block vanguard

  • @jasonbaker6898
    @jasonbaker6898 Před rokem +1

    Good points. I have an old Super Z 52 that came with a property I bought a year or two ago. I've gone through it top to bottom and have never been able to get cut quality good. Mechanically runs like new, but cannot cut grass, even with the deck level, or 1/4" pitched with new blades. Double cutting a few acres has put me on the market for a new 60". I can't imagine the same 22HP on a 60" deck. And for the same money (+/- $500) cross shopping a Kubota, which comes with a larger fuel tank and 29.5HP EFI engine. Your point about the long bolts when changing blades was spot on. I had my Super Z 52 in the garage today putting yet again, new blades on it in an attempt to get an 'ok' cut and what a pain with the long bolts.

    • @BioHazardra
      @BioHazardra  Před rokem

      Its odd how some mowers are like that. I think mine was just a lemon idk. ive never seen a mower that would leave stragglers like that one would for no apparent reason. I have experience with Kubota mowers and me and a local buddy of mine have the same conclusion: they clump more than some brands. depends on how you mow exactly. if you abide by the 1/3rd rule of only cutting 1/3 of the grass, they probably would be fine. and for a personal use mower the 29.5 efi would be great. I have been impressed with my 27hp on my new deere but i want more power lol

    I have the 52 inch version of this mower. I happen to agree with you in terms of the power… It could use more power. Tends to bog down in tall thick grass however other than that I love this thing. My dealer does all my maintenance so I don’t have to deal with many of the issues you have encountered as far as service but other than that it gives a beautiful cut, it’s fast and I’m not a big guy so don’t have many of the issues you mentioned. Haven’t even encountered the problems with fueling and the rollbar getting in the way. Maybe it’s the angle I fuel at. With that said there’s a mower for everyone. Hope you find one that suits your needs. Nothing worse than spending the kind of money these mowers cost and not be happy.

    • @BioHazardra
      @BioHazardra  Před 2 lety

      A local guy had the 52in and didnt like it that much either. he sold it and got a second Patriot he says they are better balanced and cut as good if not better than the TC2. If they would put a bit bigger engine on them i might would look at them but id say overall im done with scag. Do you fuel with jugs or mainly at a station? I bought a battery powered transfer pump to siphon the gas out of the scag before taking it back and i love that thing most of the time now i just use it to fill up my mowers lol. if i know a full jug will fit in the tank i just set the pump on cruise control and do other things for a minute or two while it runs lmao
      thing is, all of the scag dealers around me are 30+ minutes away. the one i bought the scag from was 2.5 hours away because they were the only one at the time that had a 61in tc2 in stock and i needed a mower asap

  • @failranch9542
    @failranch9542 Před 11 měsíci +1

    My rule of thumb is you need roughly 1/2 the horsepower of the deck size. So 61” needs about 30 ish. Your engine should work well in a 52” deck

      And it sounds to me like you must not run a lawn care business. From my machine that I no longer have now I sold it for whatever reason it cut terribly left stragglers everywhere. I believe the main reason was not enough power you need more power to be able to mow at a decent speed especially when cutting bi-weekly lawns

  • @joshslawnlandscape9935
    @joshslawnlandscape9935 Před 2 lety +1

    I am with you on the power deal man, and I have been hesitant on the FT motors. Despite thinking it could have a little more power, the Z920M 54" with the FX730 has been a tank. I wish it maybe had the FX801 or 850, but it has basically been a bulletproof engine. I would like to see a 960M with a FX1000 on it, that would be sweet. I think the biggest engine on a Ztrak is the FX921 (31hp I think), which is good. I have demoed 1 SCAG mower, the VRide2 a while back and it was a good machine but it was before they put the 37hp Vanguard on them, so it had the 730 Kawasaki on it. I hate the park brake kill feature...it was on the Toro Titan I had and hated it with a passion. Like you said, why do you need it, if you dont release the brake, the mower aint gonna move 🤷‍♂️. I love my 920M, it has 1450hrs on it now and still gets it done, the Quiktrak has been a fun machine but it still isn't 100% in my opinion. I just can't let it sit and sit until it is though, so as long as it does good enough, i will keep trying to tweak it and get it right. I have forgot, but what was your other Deere doing? Keep grinding buddy!!!

    • @BioHazardra
      @BioHazardra  Před 2 lety

      the z970r has a gas engine and is 35hp so its the biggest gasser deere offers. i think the engine options should be this: z930 - 27hp, z950 - 31hp, z960 - 35hp, and z970 - 38hp. i dont know what it is about scag every one of them is uncomfortable to me. ive rode around on a vride and didnt like it compared to a Wright. i have no idea why i bought the scag.. never again thats for sure. i just hope i can get most of my money back out of it.
      my z915e would sometimes run fine for a while, or sometimes start right off the bat: surging really badly. dying completely out at times. its been at the local dealer for a month. took them 2-3 weeks before they even looked at it. they cant figure it out yet and are bout to open a JD Techical Case ticket or something like that on it. probably gunna cost me a pretty penny
