Every person who is into horology owes the James Bond franchise a debt of gratitude. No other pop culture icon has elevated traditional watch wearing/collecting to such prestige as 007. In a time when people are jettisoning mechanical time pieces for more efficient and accurate quartz pieces and ugly smart watches, mechanical time pieces need all the marketing they can get to preserve their market share. Seeing James Bond wearing such pieces imbues watch collecting with the much needed cool factor that it needs to stay afloat. Yes, quartz watches are more accurate. Yes, smart watches are more accurate and have way more features than a mechanical time piece. But mechanical time pieces are just so much more refined and classy, and seeing Bond wear them for that reason just drives the point home.
I own the Omega Seamaster Professional 40th anniversary Bond watch. It is the most worn watch in my rotation.
