    Thank you Steven for the great video of a sad event. I had many fond memories of church services there since the early 50's. And many parishioners including my mother and father made perogies there for the community.

    Not sure of the circumstance with this fire but a tried and true tactic with church fires has been a blitz fire pointed directly up at the church ceiling in the middle aisle when obvious thermal layering has been noted above you. Allows time to find the seat of the fire while disturbing fire progression. This tactic can be found in FDNY and Boston fires SOP's. Its also done wonders in my city for the handful of times we have dealt with churches.

    The video was great! But the firefighters should have picked up hoselines and returned to stations allowing this once beautiful church to complete its burning. I am sure your fire department doesn't see many major fires, but it's amazing how a fire department can be so rattled and disorganized with its tactics and strategy. Even going defensive firefighting should still be very fluid and organized, not everybody jumping, screaming, running, with some just sauntering while masked up standing in the street. The church is gone, okay, it's time to stop pissing on it and take out the windows and drive master streams upward into the ceiling/attic areas! Spraying hand-lines into the eaves of a structure that is dying to be ventilated is totally useless. All you're doing is driving fire and hot fire gases back into the structure. The other pet peeve I have when establishing credibility of a fire department is front-line firefighters having full-out beards. How doest your firefighters even pass mandated annual SCBA skills check-off's with beards? Lastly, please purchase radios for your members and stop screaming orders non-stop across the fireground and consider sending officers to training on firefighting strategy and tactics in old large (historical) structures. I am sorry but this is painful to watch! Sorry for the rant. AP Retired Fire Captain

    When the fire is deep inside, squirting water at the flames coming out the roof isn't going to accomplish anything. That is until you let the fire collapse the roof and then the water will get in.

    One hour and 10 minutes of pure pain. I want the Safety Officer's head on my wall. Great video though. Sad to see another historic church go. They are notoriously hard to put out once they go up, but still though...

    Only thing I'm going to question...do PA fire depts purchase radios? Every video of departments in PA they are all just screaming orders. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH....WHAAAAT?! BLOW BLAH BLAH BLAH! WHAAAT?! BLOW THE AIRHORN! So much easier for the IC to stay in one place and give orders over a radio.

    • @timreeves3709

      Must be a Western PA thing. Southeastern PA we use tin cans and string...but we also do interior work and then the string burns through...

      @@timreeves3709 LOL what about using mechanics wire? Might be a little harder to untangle, but will hold up to the heat a little longer. LOL
      Seriously though...I've seen a lot of videos of PA departments (a very specific handful, won't mention names) where the chief is running around screaming orders and yelling at his guys because they can't hear him. I'm thinking dude, use the radio. There's a lot going on you should be sitting back directing using a single source of communication so each person knows you're talking to them. Screaming like that no on knows who you're yelling at so they all get frustrated and confused.

      @@timreeves3709 I was north east of you, just over the river. The PA departments I knew up there were very professional, well organized, and damn good firefighters....they used coffee cans until they started making them plastic, didn't stand up to the heat. 😆 Nah good dudes. I just don't understand the no command no radio deal and how they can keep members.

    • @timreeves3709
      @timreeves3709 Před 2 lety +1

      @@fdMT_EnGy One reason to keep membership, and it isn't a joke, is many fire companies have a club liquor license which allows them to be open until 3 and on Sundays. As far as command, in Bucks County, the command system is implemented when required per national recommendations. Command is, usually, at the Chief's car or at or near the first in piece..

    Right from the start the video has way way to much movement I was starting to feel a bit sick within 2 minutes.
    You need to stop moving around and make your movements a lot slower, try it out and you will see that your video's will come out better, and don't zoom to fast or to much. as people tend to forget they have zoomed in and it wrecks the recording.
    Reason I say this, is because I am doing a TV filming course with the BBC here in the UK.
