It wasn't until the late 19th century, however, during the massive expansion of the cattle industry, that the iconic cowboy era truly began to shape but Did you know that one in four cowboys were Black?

    🤠🤠 Black Men were referred to as "Cowboys", while White Men were referred to as "Cowhands"... Mario Van Peebles "Posse" & "The Harder They Fall" (Starring: Idris Elba & Jonathan Majors) are excellent films depicting Black Cowboys of the Wild West!! 🤠🤠

    nicely presented history, as a white kid who grew up on a cattle ranch I was made aware of the contribution of black and hispanic cowboys in history but as this was the 70s it may not have been so common for this to be the case

    Thank you for making a serious effort at objectivity. You don't try to make white people seem bad which has become a concerning problem today. Black cowboys are awesome. I wish there were more of them in old movies. it was callous to ignore black cowboys but whitewashing doesn't seem like a good characterization. I enjoyed your video a lot.

    They were called Bull Men, because Cowboy was an insulting term. They were also not called black , as we are not Black. NEVER were. Everyone knew us as Indians. And don't even try to slam us with African American. Indigenous Niiji of North America. Period.

      I researched it, it's false. No documents exist proving this statement true. And Moors are what we call berbers and the amazigh people today, North Africans not Sub-saharan African

    You said that "after the war the emancipation proclamation soon freed the enslaved workers". The Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1862, well before the end of the war. Your videos are often filled with misinformation but this one is pretty bad even by your standards.

      The EP never freed anyone. Nor was it intended to. Lincoln admitted this after the war.

    The Mongolians and the Huns are the first and true cowboys.😀 The Mongolian horse was one of the earliest to be domesticated and there is evidence of nomads riding horses on the central Asian steppes since 2,000 BC

    The thumbnail saying that the first cowboys were black is not correct. The first cowboys were Hispanics from South of the US border. The US idiom "Buckaroo" for cowboy comes from the Spanish Vaquero because Americans couldn't tell a Spanish B from a Spanish V.

      *"The Romans and Greeks where black,"* actually they are Europeans; in fact all Europeans descend from Japheth;
      Genesis 10
      2 *The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog,* and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
      3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
      4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
      5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
      2 Esdras 6
      9 For Esau (Dan.2:39-44) is the end of the world, *and Ya'aqov (Deut. **28:15**-68) is the beginning of it that followeth.* ~ Gen 15:12-14
