- In 1966, two entities arose at the intersection of popular culture and activism: Marvel's first black superhero, Black Panther, and the activist group, the Black Panther Party, both demonstrating a unique convergence of parallel themes and ideas. The timing and the similarity raised some questions. Was Stan Lee tapping into the group’s message and growing notoriety for his latest hero or Did Marvel’s first black superhero give the group its name?

Thank you for the wonderful commentary. I was a marvel fan all the way back in the 60s, but I was a little boy. And was unaware of the social parallel. That you brought the cable.
I remember those comics and now understand them better. I would enjoy a video about the Black Panthers by this channel. The legacy of the movement is more than what many think. They were more than just a political organization. This channel does an excellent job with historical documentary. 👍
