My two favorite characters were Miss Gracie and Franklin, for the compassion they showed others when they were feeling low and down on their luck.
Despite the horrible mistreatment by his father, Franklin had a good heart in understanding the struggle of the seamstresses who worked for his pathetic father. And I'm glad that Lucy got all of her money back from that no good bad guy.

THIS ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES OF ALL TIME!!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!! It depicts REAL Life and how it was for people in those times and even gives wisdom for the times we live in Now. It warms my heart to think of it. I rented this movie back when they had Blockbuster Video Store in my neighborhood and when I looked at it, I was hooked! I have rented is So Many times. It is one of the greatest heart warming feel good films ever created. Thank you to the Producers of this great film.

This was a really good movie to watch& the director did a very good job picking out all of the greatest renowned actors as well,dispite all the bad & negativity that took place back in those hardship days..The message towards the end spoke to my spirit and it has encouraged me to continue keeping & fighting the good fight of enduring Courageous Faith in God,while pushing forward and believing in yourself & don't give up when life situations become harder to bear,I really believe that this should get a Grammy Award for this,in my opinion 😊

I came by this purely by accident while watching Oberlin, a village rooted in freedom. Another great demonstration of the strength of the black American fight for recognition and relevance during difficult times. A lovely period drama with a heart warming story.

Very refreshing movie! I loved the "equality" of it. It showed how everyone suffered during the depression. I don't feel it's a totally accurate depiction of the times, but it was very entertaining and the actors were wonderfully engaging, making me care about the characters and their stories.❤

I do not see any of the men doing anything to motivate the women. Why don't black men do or say anything to motivate us instead of calling us names? Where are the men who encourage us? Where are the movies about black men saying positive things to us?

Whoa! This movie really rocked my soul! It just ain't right how these folks were treated. I was raised down in Memphis during the 60 's and I got to see this directly. I was lucky and my Daddy told me to be a good man and don't judge nobody by the color of their skin! All I can say to you Black folk is just be cool and that not all of us White folk are Assholes! This movie reminded me of what I called really hard times and a hard life but....in the end life got better. Great actors. Enjoyed it but it was hard to watch too. I choose to watch it to the end and I'm glad I did. Appreciate life more.
