Agreed. I didn’t like this particular breakdown-story in the beginning (earlier in the year) but by the time she hitched herself up at Southend I was more invested. Gillian Wright really shone and let her natural talent come through. She’s phenomenal when she’s at her best. I know I blow hot-and-cold with Jean an awful lot but at her core she’s a wonderful character with a lot of potential. It’s just that the writing for her in the past 11 years hasn’t been so wonderful but the signs are there that they’re trying to restore her back to her best.
Wherever this mirror scene was filmed it wasn't in Adventure Island in Southend as we were led to believe. Southend doesn't have such a Hall of Mirrors. It was, however, a very powerful scene.

I liked the storyline from when Jean drowned (it’s a little her 2.0 persona didn’t drown with her and the much grittier Jean of old emerge from the aquatic ashes, but that’s not really the point). The bouncy-castle, stolen rings and ‘Stacey’s trying to get me locked away’ part of it had elements of technical realism but got on my last nerves.
It very unsettling how Jean’s reflection moves on its own, it really captures her mental state as if we can see what she is seeing.
I loved seeing it from her perspective here.
