      Commercially tanned Cow hide.

      @@selbst105 No problem ... You could use something softer however. I'm in the process of making a pair of mocs with brain tanned buckskin, but if you don't have that you could purchase some (thick enough) split cow skin, or commercially tanned deer or moose hide if you can find it.

    I'm avoiding latigo. What did you use for the soles?

      I think that is vegetable tanned leather. I noticed it is not as heavy weight as I use which is 8 to 10oz. This looks like 6 to 8 oz vegetable tan leather. Tge thicker tge leather tge more likely to have to pre punch the soles with an awl comming through at an angle. Hard work.
