    Awesome and inspiring. I’m going to write this like I don’t know you. I woke up today in a funk, feeling that I didn’t have any motivation today to do anything and watching your video (and a cup of coffee) and just watching the amount of dedication you have, how well this is put together... honestly inspired me to get up and use the hours in my day to create something awesome and inspiring.

    Great comparison vid and great playing! I have both and love both. To me the Zendrive has more clarity and the Dude risks more but is also very versatile. Since the Zendrive is very hard to get I would recommend folks getting The Dude, Timmy, Tumnus, Archer… Stacking with a J Rocket Melody is even better.

    Great demo and skills. Would it be possible you put some kind of white markers on the Dude? We cannot see how you have set it up
    . Thanks.

    I think the best d style in this pedal format is the dumkudo. But I can't find it anywhere. Ethos OD is awesome but it's very expensive and large

  • @manifestgtr
    @manifestgtr Před 4 lety +3

    I have a red dot zen and sonically, it’s up there with ANYTHING else in my stable. I like to lightly compress before it or stack it with a tube screamer for maximum effect. Its midrange is just so smooth and tight...it hops up on top of the mix with zero effort. I don’t like to assign the “dumble” descriptor to things because it’s overused and ultimately meaningless. But the zen has “that” type of sound for me. That really pronounced, quality, vocal midrange that forces you to play whatever outside, fusiony lick comes to mind.

    well i prefer the dude because sound very good and is more ez to find, u have a real Alfonso pedal, (was made by Alfonso) and is so expensive. thanks u dude, :)

    Love both, but for me The Dude. Gotta love that clean-blend & Note clarity. They actually cover alot of the same territory. Both give you that Robben Ford, Larry Carlton & Steely Dan vibe. Nice playing.

      I actually and luckily almost ( for monetary reasons as well good my ears) as we have to agree, I got the new Dude, sold it, but bought the version one..., just ordered a third Simble! and I have two TC EL MojoMojos too, about the DUDE V2, I just didnt like the shining knobs, I did buy the Jrackett Hutrubmonk,....., summa summarum, V2s aint always better, with one or two exceptions: MI ( Michael Ibhrahim) peds a re nearby perfec!

    I might be wrong, but I think I am hearing a bit more midrange in the Zendrive that I like. Am I correct? I wish all pedals had separate mid, treble, and bass controls, which is why I am starting to realize that I have been overlooking maybe the most important pedal of them all - an eq pedal.

    You seem to enjoy the zendrive much more.

  • @cincinnatipedalsteel4347

    The zen drive is more bright and not as creamy to my ears. The dude is not as expensive and for what I want on pedal steel, that’s what I want. A lot of mids. The only overdrive I’ve ever really loved was the nutradrive on my Benado Steel Dream. I’d you aren’t familiar Benado is a very boutiquey effects company. Benados overdrive is based a lot on the D type OD sound and Has been compared by who many say is the best pedal steel player in the world to the zen drive.
    So after I parted with my benado (purely a financial thing when covid hit) I searched for a comparable overdrive. The dude is the closest I’ve found in the price range I was comfortable with.
    Great A/B video brother!
    Keep up the good work

    Both sound good to me , can’t understand why my zendrive doesn’t sound as good as yours, mmm. I yeh cuz I’m a crap player lol. Good players sound good no matter what you give them. Robbed ford uses the zen for when he hasn’t got his dumble. Says a lot to me.

  • @Artefracture

  • @arnieg65
    @arnieg65 Před 9 dny

    Ok, so you have part of your D-style amp in OD, and on top you're demoing 2 D-style pedals? The tone is not true tone from the pedals! You're mixing the tone of your D-style amp in OD with the tone of the pedals....

    • @CamiloVelandia
      @CamiloVelandia  Před 8 dny

      Well the point of this video is to compare the two pedals. I think since theyre both going through the same exact rig, it’s a fair comparison. The sound of the amp is irrelevant as long as theyre going through the same amp. Inevitably as “dumble” as they may be, after going through the tone stack and then the speaker, other things really ultimately influence the sound. But this wasn’t necessarily a demo of each pedal as much as it was just a comparison.

    Too much distortion for testing an overdrive

  • @TheBlackzat

    Soloing with speed doest really help tell the difference, you should slow down and focus on the nuances. My 2 cents for future reviews. :)
