The only gurantee in this great game of ours - is that sweet, dolcet tone of Gerard Whately welcoming us and David King to monday morning. The greatest footy mind in all the land
I’m in Perth and no one I talk to thinks there’s any point sacking Simmo like that’s going to fix anything. It’s pretty much shrug of the shoulders, the season is what it is and let’s just keep getting games into the young kids. Don’t think the sensationalist media speak on behalf of the general population
As a Freo supporter I agree. Changing the coach isn't gonna heal the players. May as well stick with him and see what he can do with thr kids and off season trades next year.
That said they should have done a mini rebuild years 3 years ago and traded out some veterans who had value at the time.
Simpson is a good coach - just doesn't have the players available to compete at AFL standard.
No point sacking him.
I'm glad to hear the perspective of someone in WA instead of sensationalist East Coast AFL media.
A great club in a sorry predicament...
Spot on mate, well said
Love them or hate them, West Coast Eagles are like a family, they don’t get rid of the one of their own and will stick by you when know one else will.
Lifting yourself out of the bottom six in an eighteen team competition is really difficult and the task will become even harder when Tasmania joins the league.
Its list management and compensating/extending your "premierships players" when they should have been shipped off to other clubs or retired.
czcams.com/video/U0KVi4GCS9w/video.html @25:13
Love listening to you talk about footy Kingy, spot on about Carlton. could not agree more.
Yeah - 14th in the competion scoring - because the Pies are YET TO PLAY Hawthorn, North, West Coast etc. FFS
10 goals in the first half against a desperate Carlton and they went down a gear in the second half - instead of up a gear to win from behind.
Let the defence win the game.
Still to get the last of the talls back plus Lipinski and Howe.
Brisbane have lost 4 games in 5 years at home (or is it 5 games in 4 years, you get the drift though..)
Poor West Coast have so many injuries they are playing 18yo rookies on field against AFL veterans.
Simpson should be applauded for even getting a team on the field.
Why would you sack a good coach who is playing with reserves and rookies?
Only team in the comp yet to play the bottom 3. I wonder where the pies will rank for offence after the next two weeks 😂😊
@@nickwyllie7563
The Pies will probably put the cue itn the rack and win by only 6 goals though.
They will have to be ruthless to try and make up percentage on the other teams.
Because while all you said was true, that’s not what makes headlines. This is modern sport media for you. All about the drama and less about the game.
@@donny8619 Absolutely - click bait, shock-jock's & sporting "journo's" bread & butter.
(...and here we are discussing it LOL)
Premiership was 5 years go...after GF in 2015...no crystal ball but we are 2 years behind
We’ll see where the stats lie with Collingwood after they play north and west coast this coming fortnight
Simple the players showed they don't fear Simpson
Mate the team just fkn sucks. Replace Simmo with Fly they still get done every week.
Collingwood are the greatest misnomer, they are not really made out of wood.
HAHAHA yes, people just say things that sound good sometimes, don't they!
I though they were made out of colling
Wood is a great building material. I had a wooden dining table
Collingwood have had major injuries all year, we haven't seen them at full health yet
“Major injuries” 😂 if their injury list is major then I’d love to know what the injury lists of other clubs would be called.
@@Bangbongwong
Collingwood have played substantial parts of the year with no recognised rucks whatsoever and no key backs aside from Darcy Moore and almost all of it without one of their two key tall forwards.
To go 9 of 10 with all that has been frightening.
@@Bangbongwongearly you're a nuffy
There were times we even had to use, Scott Pendalbury in the Ruck, and we even had to draw ash Johnson from the forward line and rotate through forward line and ruck, that's not sustainable, and then you add how we had to train up Frampton and at times move him out of Defense to cover howe original position into ruck. So the pies have been unsettled and so many moving parts. I think after the bye, they will go up another level, and there still to come back, Frampton and Dan Mcstay which is going to add so much more strength not to mention lipinski who is rated our best kick into the forward50 as stated by Craig mcrae, not to mention that out players had to force playing with the flu, and also mention that last two games, we have rested both Scott Pendalbury and Sidebottom, and removed them both from the 4th quarter, due to player management.
Smart coaching from Craig, no need to go hard and risk injury. Rather get the wins on the board and take a healthy list into the final part of the year.
The haters will always hate, at the start of the year, they were saying, Oh stop getting excited its only round 3. And now it's round 10, there like oh you're nothing special.
Mark my works will go up another gear come finals 👍
@@muhammedPies 😂 delusional. There are teams with way longer injury lists then yours, you’re missing maybe 1-2 best 22 players at most this season. Blaming shit recruitment of rucks on injuries is dumb
@@Bangbongwong you know nothing mate. Only two weeks ago we had no Cameron, Cox, lipinski, Howe, frampton, mcstay. Pendles, De goey, adams and murphy have all missed games. You obviously don’t know anything about footy outside your own club
Offensive ratings for each team without including any games against WCE, NM, HAW would be interesting
North should be very grateful for losing JHF……. okay JHF is happy, Port Adelaide are happy…….. but not only North did pick up 2 quality young players (Sheezel & Wardlaw) , which if JHF had stayed, they would’ve only had one of those…….. but in the next draft they get another 2 first round picks , which gives them an opportunity to really make a quality list. Definitely a win on 3 fronts !!
But JHF is just an even better quality young player??? Dude is better than both combined and still young lmao. Your logic makes no sense! "We lost a really good young player but we replaced him with a worse, slightly younger player!"
@@jayden6047 North got 2 picks for JHF (1 last draft and another this year’s draft)…. and if you think Wardlaw and Sheezel are not extremely good young players, I’m amazed !! …. and North get the opportunity to pick up another two first round picks……. North were not going to get the best out of JHF , he wasn’t happy …… but instead North if they get this year’s picks right….. they will have 4 future pillars of your Club. Which in the long term is a boon for the Club. Wardlaw and Sheezel could very well be the Petracca and Oliver…… or the Dangerfield and Selwood of NM in 3 years time.
@@jayden6047 sheezel is already better than JHF and younger, wardlaw also looks like the type of player JHF is but actually plays with some heart
The real test in this game is handling the pressure in the finals. Port Adelaide will crumble at the hurdle(s). In a marathon, pace and experience is important, sadly Port are deficient in both!

King is right Collingwood have not peaked too early, Brisbane have.
Brisbane will get a home final. Out of Brisbane are not a top four side.
As a lions man I wouldn’t say the lions have peaked yet but I don’t think collingwood have either. We set up well defensively and our midfield/ forward line have stepped up defensively too.
Compared to how geelong played in the last 2 weeks of the finals, we haven’t hit top gear yet. We are still sharing the load and still experimenting stuff.

@@wino5086 same happened to sydney that beat everyone else away too, point is brisbanes current away record is very good
Since nobody has picked Kings comments Hawthorn/Collingwood both have a star pattern around player with ball but it must mean the player wins the ball. Carlton 2-3 seagulls go in for the ball, head looks up and he has no idea.
Kingy is suggesting you stand away 5m, 30m and as soon as you lift your head, you know a player will position themselves there.
Richmonds just a variation of 5-10m away running as a group can handball their way thru oppositions defence until you see open space and player running into it.
I knew we were going to loose but fuck me 😂, I know we’re cooked atm with injuries but I thought we’d put up a fight.
If your a Dockers supporter the mood in Perth is pretty good- its fantastic to see the Eagles supporters suffering and angry hopefully lasts for another 5 years.
Dockers fans have always based their clubs’ success off how well or poorly the Eagles are doing. It’s just sad. Hopefully one day maybe Freo will accomplish something in their own right to give the fans something to celebrate
Sacking Simmo is definitely not the fix, Kingy is definitely on the money on his points. IMO just cull the players who aren’t up to it and reevaluate the positions of the senior players. As much as I’d hate to give up on the first pick for Reid, it’s in the clubs best interest to split that pick and start bringing in talent in numbers.
#Flagpies23
I don't get it, what do you expect Simpson to do with this horrible injury list? No coach can do anything about it.. A win would be a miracle
What about some accountability for the fact they've been awful since 2020, and there's been perennial excuses. Clarko got fired because he overestimated the list and Sammy was considered better for bringing up kids. Why not the same so Simmo
@@NickPYates
Just remrmber: IT IS ONLY A GAME.- seriously, it's just a game.
Don't lose sleep with accountability over a game.
The country's got more debt than any one dares to think about, it's being sold out by woke ideology that any ANZAC from a hundred years ago would spin in their grave over and every time there is something wrong, all any one expects is for the governments to spend more money that we don't have so that the next generation will be enslaved before they're even born. Next the governments will find a way to sneakily swap out smaller paying property stamp duty for so 43:51 vereignty diminishing annual land tax: but so long as there's the footy to distract us we'll be fine.
Carlton has actually done the right thing for a change, had the president send a letter to all the fans saying that they'll stay the course and won't be distracted by fan and media noise. If they'd done that with Bolton and maybe made a couple of list changes, he'd still be there. From all reports things were flying behind the scenes while he was at the helm.
Stay the course?????? What course???? There's no system. Winning the ball, short kicking till you turn it over and scrambled till the opp kick a goal is not finals. Not laying tackles or bumps is also called bruise free footy. Pitch Forks are being armed and ready by members!
@@georgepagotelis Members generally aren't very bright, they're simply impatient and letting their emotions get the better of them. This is the same pattern of behaviour that the players have exhibited under the last three coaches and it needs to be addressed and worked through. Get the right tactical and experienced coaches around Voss at the end of the season if needed, but they have to stop sacking blokes because of the lazy, inept playing group.

Carlton Stink
I'm a mad eagles fan and i'd be devo if they sacked him, he has pivoted the game plan perfectly this year. The talk that the players aren't playing for him? aren't they like #5 in pressure acts or something in the league? as for the board, they have a reputation of bouncing a team back from the bottom quicker than anyone else dont they?
Why does everyone want to spill blood? i swear its just the media throwing mud until it finally sticks.
If we end up like the dockers with a rookie coach spinning us in circles while Simmo (Ross Lyon) goes to another club and dominates ill be sick.
sure I'm bummed that we are getting pumped, but the #1 pick is a gun, I'd rather get slapped for the odd season and then challenge when compared to being teased (carlton) every year.
Half those players on the WC injury list are passed it anyway.
To be fair Collingwood have a better list a better team and always wants to be attacking and fight till the end Carlton doesn’t have that
Natanui to Port Adelaide! Another clanger from Kingy.
Didn't get that much wrong considering they made a Preliminary Final.
The analysis of carltons problems are not accurate. Voss was the wrong appointment he’s basically the same coach as the two before him soft with very little experience his game style does not suit the players we have. Carlton are a terrible kicking side yet the game plan is possession style footy. Secondly we don’t have any small forwards which is why we didn’t play finals last year and thirdly our midfielders don’t kick goals. Simpson at Carlton would be a better fit
stats stats stats...the only stat that counts is the W/L ratio
Kingy did nothing but bag Freo, fake footy, slow mo Freo. He had little faith. Said today he saw Freo at gather round and they didn't play anything like yesterday. That's BS. The coach has adjusted as the team has adjusted, replacing 4 key players, Lobb, Mundy, Akers, Logue, Tucker and Meek. He's not doing the research he used to. Kingy is becoming Mr Irrelevant
Mr King, great insightful analysis as usual. Just one small request, drop the blah, blah, blah. Its unnecessary and juvenile.
Collingwood are currently the class of the comp but they're far from invincible. You have to kill em with speed and very few teams can do it. It's why the Lions demolished em.
No ruck is the only reason Brisbane were able to dominate. They have 3 players that are over 200cm and 2 of them were injured, otherwise they are a short team. It will be a different game later in the year especially at the G
@@nickwyllie7563 That is an absolute lie lmao, collingwoods defense got absolutely smashed and their midfield didnt do much better. They lost from ground balls and the contest, the lions taps to advantage werent that many or important. If you watched the game it was also mainly the lions small forwards and pressure that did it, cant blame injuries when they didnt play an affect on any of the wins they had after that
You mean the Gabba is why they demolished them. They would never in a million years play like that at the MCG unless they were completely possessed by the ghost of the 3 peat past.
@@taliamason7986 "lions cant win away from home" "We would beat them at home" the irony in this comment is stupid funny, not to mention this pies team havent beat the lions in a couple years even at marvel. Also werent the pies the team that got a home final last year despite playing the cats who finished first?
@@Tosicc567 they lost that game and not the others because Brisbane is the second best team in the comp. You just showed your lack of understanding on the way Collingwood play. They had no marking outlet when kicking out of defensive 50, Cox/Cameron also go forward being our tallest option in attack and furthermore we had mcstay and Johnson in the ruck which completely disrupts our forward line. Brisbane are the best team in the comp at locking the ball in forward 50 and that was compounded by the fact we didn’t have our two tallest players to bail us out of trouble when kicking out of defence. It makes a massive difference, and you will find this out when we play Brisbane later in the year
Hey Kingy I think you have been eating too many pies. What about the the power players taking it upto the
sniper Viney who took out Boak.
And Ken Hinkley not going anywhere. Why would he give this team he has painstakingly put together to another coach. Next year he gets Ratugolea and he is set.

It's crazy how much the media rate, Richmond. They are a very average team, and I don't expect them to make the finals next year either.
As is the case every week, if you only hear about AFL from the media you would be forgiven for not realizing Essendon exist
