  • I finally got my hands on Honda's new 2021 White "Black Edition" trim Ridgeline redesign. There are some things I noticed that were updated on the Ridgeline, some published, some not. So glad to get into a non black vehicle too!

Looking at mid size pickups I've test driven them all. For most people the Ridgeline is all he "truck' you need. Like some have said unless you are a farmer or rancher, or in construction this is all you need. Comfortable, AWD standard, decent gas mileage, good payload, adequate towing, and excellent handling. This by far outperforms any mid size truck currently on the market.

Last week, I traded my 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 for a new 2021 White "Black Edition" Honda Ridgeline. My last Honda was a new 1984 CRX and it was a great car; I'm hoping the Ridgeline lives up to the standard set by the CRX. I'm still learning the features and hadn't noticed the partially heated windshield. Great news though. From my Honda dealership, I purchased the following accessories: black wheel locks, trunk dividers, All-Season Floor Mats, & In-Cabin Cargo Tray. Honda skimmed on those carpeted floor mats; they're thin like communion wafers without rubber backing to prevent water from reaching the truck's carpet. The All-Season Mats & In-Cabin Cargo Tray fit like a glove & improve the interior look. Enjoyed your video Ira !!!

Congrats on the pick up and welcome back to the Honda family! I agree, the floor mats are like cardboard... which is a bummer but industry standard now. Most of the accessories are a solid score! I have the trunk dividers too and love them... but in very cold conditions they can break if stressed. Found that out the hard way with cramming too much junk in there one winter camping trip

@@reyperez3424 I have a 2020 ridgeline and compared to my cheaper KIA. the Honda reaction times with their assist systems is just behind and very sluggish to react it also reacts to cars that are not directly in it's path of travel, in other words it sees oncoming traffic as a threat and engages kills cruise, engages brakes, etc.. what the hell is it trying to mitigate?? (and yes I have it adjusted to a narrower path in hopes to eliminate the false triggering) maybe the Honda system is designed more for the faint hearted or the severely cautious?? I can tell you the KIA's algorithms are more in line with natural human interaction (as if you were in control of the vehicle hands free).. i.e when radar cruise is on it's so quick to react when it senses a car but never abruptly (never in the opposite lane, just the one you're in) and when a car departs your lane she immediately gets back to speed.. The Honda on the other hand will immediately slow down when it detects a car in your lane including the oncoming lane where the only thing between the opposing travel is a double solid yellow line... then when the car departs and gives you clear lane the Honda will take (No joke) 10 seconds to realize nothing is in front of it and will gradually bring you back to speed... in total 15-20 seconds to get you back to your setpoint speed..depending if it pick up another car in the oncoming lane.. The lane keep assist is just unreliable (I understand it's not an autonomous car) The KIA although not perfect, however it will not not let me run off the road and actually can somewhat depend on it as if it was autopilot.. the KIA will take long and fairly deep sweepers on the highway and stay true to the track as long as it senses your hand on the wheel (Unfortunately it will not do 90 degree turns in urban settings) During snow storms the KIA's radar and all assist systems work as if it was a sunny day, The Honda on the other hand..once that badge gets caked with even a thin coat of ice or slush, the system goes into error... Comparing the 2 systems The KIA is highly reliable, predictable, quick reaction times which to me = better safety also to add the KIA will basically slow down to a crawl (like when going through toll lanes) then once it clears it gets back to the setpoint speed without hesitation. (however the system will cancel itself when the crawl exceeds, I believe 15 seconds) Truly a great experience with the KIA especially on longer highway runs....and actually thought to myself if this is a preview of full auto pilot. then I'm in. The expensive Honda, unfortunately not so much, it requires me to constantly provide corrective inputs 50% of the time, between giving it gas, cancelling itself at 40 mph, actually having to correct steering the car with the assist on is just frustrating..just have everything disabled and use standard cruise control on longer runs....sorry for the long winded reply,, but this is my experience. I also asked other Honda owners that drives accords to the odyssey they all say the same about the sluggish assist systems... compared to NIssan, VW, Audi

@@triplec3217 bro,,,,,, it's not the speed control, it only does it when on bluetooth or carplay/android auto, it does not do it when the radio is on or the aux is plugged in, and it's not the same type of speed dampening as speed control, so when if speed volume control did work when sitting in the driveway, which it does not, it's not the svc! It's a bad bluetooth module in my opinion or the wiring is hooked up incorrectly, possibly a faulty head unit.

The ZF9 transmission is hot garbage they decided to put in it. Get the extended warranty for it. It’s a very problematic transmission that is in the Pilot and Passport as well. It’s been “revised” to fix previous issues. Do not be fooled. Ours went out and was replaced at only 1,8XX miles 2019 Passport Elite. We bought it brand new. We now have a 2021 Honda Accord 2.0T Touring and much happier now.
The 10 speed transmission is so much better in every way compared to that shitty ZF9.
