- Tadej Pogacar has once again broken records at the Giro d'Italia 2024 within the reach of very few before the start of stage 5 of the race. Neither Geraint Thomas nor Daniel Felipe Martinez nor Florian Lipowitz come close to matching Jonas Vingegaard's nemesis, the man who will be back for the Tour de France. Maybe that's why people love him, and maybe that's why people quickly forgot about the doping.

That attack on stage 3 turned that from a total snoozefest into something that'll be remembered for years. The calculated racing by teams in the Indurain and Armstrong years was really pretty boring... it was literally some type of lab experiment/chemistry experiment that just unfolded to a pre-ordained conclusion.

I'm more impressed at how fast those guys are recovering, Remco was back training in 3 weeks, and Jonas a month after the crash. Maybe we won't have a boring tour this year after all.
That doesn’t mean they’re back on the same level, if Jonas wins anything the rest of the year I’m gonna be surprised. Remco was less injured but I don’t think he’s gonna have a bombastic year. Tada broke a wrist last year and it messed up A lot.

This is why steroids were originally developed. Recovering from major injuries/surgeries/ailments.
That's not anything new. Every injury is different and always has been. Look at Tyler Hamilton continuing to race with a broken collarbone. I know I've had broken ribs that were tolerable to train on in a few days(indoors for safety for the first week) and broken ribs that gave me trouble for many weeks.

I've lived through the Armstrong doping era, and before, riders doping in the 80s. I love my cycling so what you are saying is all modern day cyclists are doping. Wiggins, Froome, Pogacar etc. Is that correct?

@@cyclinghighlights the 94-96 is the true pure epocha for lovers of the biggest monsters/greatest spectacles. Nothing comes close. The lance era was boring, as the program became too costly for most pros. Once the passport came in, only those gaming the system on entry to the pro ranks like pogi could become epic monsters.
