"Is KiLLiNg tHe bOsS aVoiDiNg DaMaGe tOo??"
For real. The rules were so clearly established. Technically he didn't riposte, as a riposte is an attack following a parry, and what he did is just a critical attack on a staggered enemy, which in the game does work the same way, but it isn't the same action. Standing close to the boss is not dodging, and the rules clearly stated that the boss missing an attack does not count as the player dodging the same attack. It's 100% with the spirit of the challenge. The challenge was to beat the game without dodging, not to beat the game while absorbing all of the damage everything can possibly dish out forever without ever killing anything or dying lmao.

The fact that elden ring is such a difficult game ,yet still can be beaten in a variety of ways makes it one of the most fascinating and repayable games of all time.
But the DS 2 still have more uniqueness
yep, it reminds me of ds 1 and 2 in that regard. also the reason why im not that big a fan of bloodborne. as that game is too 1 note. you basicalyl play the exact same way but using diferent weapons that dont change it that much.
and before people come talking about how in BB weapons are more unique, they kinda are, but changing them is not that diferent from 2-handing in other souls like.
@@marcosdhelenono, changing weapon form is nothing like two handing, but you can tell yourself that if you want. You can dislike bloodborne, but this is just plain false.
Every attack combos with every followup you choose. In other souls game R1 combos with R1 and R2 with R2, and that's that. Sometime you get a R1-R2 combo, but that's it. Hitting different button simply disrupts the flow of the action and resets the combo. Which is fine for souls game since they play at a much slower pace, but weapons definitely have less than 1/3 of the options and movesets bloodborne has. The changing form attacks have a moveset of their own. Two handing is an action that stays the same for every weapon, changing form is an actual attack and plays right into the fast pace of bloodborne. Again, it's fine if you don't like it, but the comparison makes no sense.
@@giulioceresini1435 " In other souls game R1 combos with R1 and R2 with R2"
this clearly shows you are talking out of your ass.
seriously, there's a channel dedicated to DS1 pvp, and he proves that this is just false. many weapons not only can combo r1s into r2, but you can also combo using rolls, side steps, running and jump attacks.
some spears for example, have thrusts in the r1, but sweeps in the r2. and you can easily combo them.
so many weapon combos allow for roll catches in ds1.
just look at the broad sword moveset and tell me you cant combo it. in some cases you can combo stuff other weapons cant, like the reinforced club, allowing jump attack into r2 for a second jump attack.
and that's DS1, which is only not as clunky as DeS. in other games like DS2 and 3, it becomes even easier to combo stuff. specially in 3, as some weapon arts were designed to literary be comboable with r1s or r2s.
Man what are you talking about? Elden Ring is the easiest of the Souls games.

Funny how out of all the "tank" runs with poise being an important thing and noone remembered about Fia's buff which increases your poise significantly with about 10% HP trade. Plus you can actually get a hug so that'd be another win
The buff only lasts 15 seconds, it's more likely that people just don't bother with it since it's not worth the trade. One could make an argument for the radiant variant of the buff which lasts for 70 seconds but is only obtainable once in a playthrough, can't be stored, you can't hold more than 1 and it doesn't carry over to NG+.

You have to dodge any movement of any enemy, and have to panic roll at least 3 times per roll to simulate someone bad as well

That run was a definition of "strategy without tactics"

The only strategy is no strategy.
that run was the pinnacle of tactics. tactics is an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific goal/end. he had to plan out his armor, his stat allocation as he lvled, which invocation to pick up, which ash of war to use, how he should allocate his flasks, consummables, etc etc. sure. in combat it just looks like a walking tin can getting beaten on like a training dummy. but his tactic was to make pretty much the pinnacle "tank" build for elden ring and resort to "if i kill them first they can't kill me."

I think your strategy with Rykard was definitely acceptable. With these special playthroughs you do, there has to be some room for certain bosses. Awesome job man. These do help me realize the advantages of some of these builds you do.
Considering it's right there as soon as you enter the arena I think it's safe to assume that even new players are going to eventually figure that one out.
To take that a step further, any new player gathering enough info to find all this gear is absolutely gonna know about Serpent Hunter going into that fight, so either way I agree that it's fine.

@@davidtsmith33 godricks great rune falls off later game as it increases attributes, whereas morgotts is a 15% boost to health
@@davidtsmith33 Yeah I prefer to use it for general play since all attributes going up might save your ass with resistances and whatnot at times. One thing that occurred to me was, why not use Spirit Ashes? If the goal was simply to prove that the game is beatable without using reactionary movement, using Spirit Ashes would make it even simpler. They are after all the inbuilt easy mode of the game. Mimic Tear is almost an "I win button" vs all bosses.
Also, Endure on an offhand dagger or in a secondary slot adds alot of Poise and resistance.
Bubble Aromatic(forgot the real name of it) also adds alot of dmg resistance, could have been useful vs giant hits that take awhile to land like Radahns divebomb. - against rules I guess...
Well obviously he could use Spirit Ashes but that would ruin the point
Not even that.
He could just use shields which give damage negation when blocking + guard counters.
I imagine the hardest thing for you was to not react to attacks and not roll/dodge

The whole run was incredibly brain dead and incredibly easy, and I was dying laughing my whole playthrough.
It's even better if you two hand the shield and simply use shield crash. It still works, and it's pretty good for pvp too.
The Elden Beast probably went from "What is this dumb-dumb doing" to "OH GOD PLEASE JUST DIE ALREADY" very quickly as the fight went on there.

The "Can we eat it" on Redan really got me for some reason.
Nice vid, subbed.
the amount of knowledge about the game mechanics necessary to beat this challenge means you still have to “get good” to beat the game, no matter what!
Yeah he broke so many of his own rules he set out but besides all the rule breaking nonetheless a cool run
At least he didn't have to get good mechanically so I think it was very much in line with the spirit of the run
This knowledge can be googled but that's about the only saving grace for the challenge.
Granted even someone not trying to git gud would learn something from a fight and get a successful dodge or run away at some point
Googling item effects and locations is not the same as "getting gud"
@@JaydenLand Anyone who is a souls virgin isn't simply googling and even then figuring it all out or succeeding half as well as he did (which isn't necessarily superb)
Putting an extra spin onto this definitely made it more interesting. I'd seen a few "no-dodging" runs before and they all went pretty much the same but this certainly seemed far more challenging.
Also that 2nd attempt at elden beast was just pure bullying.
21:41 now that was luckily timed :D Blas Blade is such a good weapon for this run as it gives so much health page. This was one of my favorite weapons on my first 2 playthroughs, a nice long decent damage line aoe plus it has life siphon? Hell yes Ill take it! :P
I love these challenge runs. Very entertaining to see and I just finished my own challenge run. Not as sophisticated but I only put points into strength and vigor and only used the starting club from the wretch. Then to keep myself mobile I only used leg and hand armor. Pretty fun and only took a weekend to complete. Im not as good as this guy though.
Bernahl's cape for the drip and lions claw on the giant crusher is my favorite way to play. Glad to see lion's claw and the cape show up in a video
Bernahl's cape really do be clean af
honestly watching these challenge runs really put a perspective on how well beautifully animated this game is with the wacky scenarios you’re in
Can’t believe people tried to say your swing animation was considered dodging. Give the man his props he’s killing it. Some people are never happy
Yeah
I mean no matter how he does it he won't be able to replicate a bad or new player tbh, it's a great video but still doesn't make the difficulty complaints about the game less valid
@@jevislife5675 how can you devalue something that has 0 validity in the first place😭😭
It is because they are jealous.
@@jevislife5675 what difficultly complaints? Apparently this is one of the easiest souls games. It’s my first one and I’ve been doing absolutely fine
29:53 "okay, well I'm not dead"
Niall: and I took that personally
these challenges have been incredible. I don't know how you got rid of the instinct to roll
Dude I want to thank you. You helped me improve elden ring by a lot just from watching you play. Your movements, your patience. I love your content and I binged your videos. You are a great content creator and I truly appreciate these challenges 🤍
I don't think you should do what he's doing in this video tho
brother what movements he was standing still
@@fawazahmed4978 he talks about older videos you stupid bastard
You should see how angry he gets at twitch chat for literally anything lol
I don’t think he was pointing to this video specifically, but to Bushy’s content as a whole that have made him a better ER player.
I just have to say, that character creation looks sick. At night it kinda looks like a hazmat suit and it feels so surreal to have something modern looking in the Lands Between.
Watching runs like this have taught me more about the game than any dedicated 'build' video ever could.
The patience needed for a run like this is beyond me
The essence of "I am going to ram my head until this boss is dead" is strong with this one.
Absolutely love the science being done here. Never thought I'd see the day someone take every hit possible in a game that primarily kills in two hits at higher end bosses. Well Done and Well Played!
My favourite part so far (only up to first Loretta death) has been showing the spelldrake talisman +2 reduces magic damage by 20% while the pearldrake +2 reduces all elemental damage by 9%, then going into the fight with a boss that only uses magic damage and physical with the 9% instead of the 20%
TLDR: Shrek becomes very angry that people are in his swamp so he grabs his grandpappy's old morningstar and kills everybody in Elden Ring.
In a way, this whole challenge was symbolic the very reason we all play these games by FROM Software. No matter how many times your character is battered and beaten, he stands again to face the challenge head on. Admirable, really.
Oh definitely!
I'm really surprised you managed to pull this off without Comet Azur, that was my "I don't want to learn to dodge" strategy
My first spell caster playthrough was basically that because of how much a glass cannon I was, I basically said "F IT I'm gonna cast this spell and either I will die or YOU will."
Its actually not the guaranteed victory people think it is, its a coin toss on the boss standing in the right position long enough.
Amazing. You unga bungga'd Rykard with just two attempts. It took me a couple of hours hours with my sorcerer build where I was forced to use the serpent hunter spear.
I’d honestly say that the Godrick “strafe” was fine. You walked towards him, and bro struck the ground behind you. Quite personally, that’s on Godrick.
Also the first dragon breath attack. I think hes confusing try not to dodge attacks with try to allow every attack to hit you.
I think seeing you do a run where you complete as many NPC quest lines as possible would be neat. As an added bonus, for any NPCs that die or "die" you could play as them, or as closely to them as possible. Switch when the next one dies, or whatever.
The first part is just a normal playthrough though.
That's not much of a challenge run, just a long boring run
That's not a challenge. That's just a regular playthrough that everyone does
What? Lame ass ideas
He’s doing something similar on Twitch rn, he can only use what he gets from a quest/npc
One thing I always do that actually might help you since you seem to mess up your item bar a lot - I put the red flask on the quick toggle + left dpad and the blue flask on the right dpad buttons. I also put the physik on theh top and torrent on the bottom, so I never need to cycle through my quickbar to quickly use any of those items.
I always wonder why people don't do this more. They're the most used items, fromsoft gave you a menu made specifically for using an item anytime
You can also reset your item scrolling to the first item by holding the d pad button. Hp always at the ready.
used to watch you play gwent, now u make top notch elden ring guides. Much love bushy
You can stun lock melania with destined death on malikaths sword it breaks her stance pretty easily and you can just spam it and it work in second phase and it worked for her special too but idk I 2nd tried her first play through w it
What a clever challenge. To “play the game like someone who’s never played before.” Except I think you limited yourself too much because even someone who has never played before would see a big boss coming at them while they are at low health and try to run away to heal. You did more than your fair share my man. Great job :)
And would someone who has never played before know where every single item is and which one's to get. Or know when to attack with which wepon and when to heal in a boss.
@@wildblack1 With the internet? absolutely.
@@guregan634 well if u can look all that up, I think you can look up how to play
@@ethang.8238 You can bring good game to a scrub, but you can't take the scrub to the good game.
@@wildblack1 i’d say it evens out considering he actively tried to get hit half the time. even the worst of the worst players imaginable would perform better.
I love bushy's creativity with these runs. It flips the game on its head and make me wonder if theres a limit to rediscovering it
this challenge is so insulting because this is how I play the game lmao
shields are so op in this games, my first playthrough so far is just a stance break paladin, shield up and hit after being hit, even against bosses!
i just started this game and i see theres a variet yof ways to make it easy so when i play elden ring i keep myself low leveled so everything pretty much one taps me and its very challenging for me this way, and i gotta say i used to hate on this game because i never enjoyed souls game but this game has put me on, that size of the world and amount of loot you can get is insane
I love when he showed what equipment he had on for each boss, after he got the scaled armor a few were just, completely wrong.
I feel like spamming Burn, O Flame! could have also worked for Malenia.
Other than that, great job!
P.S. I don't think it would've helped much, but you can get another Great Stars from defeating the Magnus the Beast Claw invader.
Or one of the night sorcery projectile spells
I would've tried bolt of gransax tbh. Does great damage, even more so if she stands in the water, and kocks her down. Also can be cast from outside waterfowl range!
He tried it, didn't work
@@xqtionr538 Okay.
I’m pretty sure he tried that on stream and it didn’t work out
At 56, I know my reaction times are slowing and usually roll too soon in a panic. That said, I've sat on the Elden Throne twice; game and game+.
