My one question is: if the aim is to tank all attacks then why no shield? I feel like a great shield, specially the spiked palisade shield would be amazing for this.

Id presume you would stand a chance against rykard via spinning weapon if you were rocking the swaddling cloth... but im not sure if you can put spinning weapon onto anything with bleed or rot to make good use of it and then the mana supply becomes an issue
