I think you're being very ignorant of a huge part of the reaction. Did you miss the fact that everybody thought the leaked episode was fake because it was rubbish?

Sherlock Watson The point is this - this is probably the episode out of every series that received the most amount of backlash, yet nobody on CZcams is acknowledging it. If nobody comes out and says there are major, major flaws with the episode, then we will continue to get the shit that we have seen on our screen the last 3 weeks or so.

agree, the only "logic" in the episode anywhere, was dream/nightmare logic. vanishing and reappearing glass, apparating and disapparating all over the place, xmen type mind control, all the tells for Mind Palace we have been learning since ASIB or earlier. There's actually a fair amount of johnlock subtext but it's more hidden than usual, under more no-homo than usual. Could really do without the horror aspect, but I guess some people like that? I'm just as glad I didn't preorder the dvd this time.

That's because the haters should be stripped of the title 'fan'. Fans do not harass makers over a fictional ship. Fans do not belittle, mock, and treat maker's sexuality (Mark Gatiss specifically) like a joke. Fans do not hold threats over maker's heads prior to an episode being released, that if their widdle ship is not canon, they will harass them on twitter. That is what I have seen from this despicable "TJohnLC" individuals over the past week and they ought to be forced to read their own comments in front of their friends and family, so that maybe they will feel the shame they should be feeling for such a gross, uncalled for reaction.
That goes both ways! The writers have mocked the fans for years! Aren't they entitled too? Making money off of loyal fans who have defended them against critics and made the show a success? The same writers who knowingly write in baiting scenes but then make fun of fans for taking the bait?! I find that equally disgusting and gross. The writers planted the seeds first, watered it for SEVEN YEARS, and now they're reaping what they sowed.

OhNoBob I AGREE WITH YOU!!! If you are a true fan then you shouldn't be judging an episode just because your ship didn't sail!! I felt like season 4 was freakin amazing and MIND BLOWING!! We see Sherlock develop into a more human stage of himself, He becomes closer with his siblings, John and Sherlock still as close as ever! Mycroft learned his lesson....I think and lets not forget the amount of plot twists there were in just one episode like WHAT?! Anyway, my point is that people are looking at it in one side and not the other multiple good sides of this series
Not all fans were just mad that Johnlock didn't happen. I for my part was way more upset about the plot holes and the loose ends, so that in the end the episode didn't feel like Sherlock and it didn't round off the whole show in a good way. Many people were upset about that, and they decided to ignore it in this video. So yes, it was biased. I do compeletely agree that it is not okay to insult or harass the writers, but in my opinion the fans which are upset do have the right to tell them about how they feel.

Guys, I believe the fourth sunday this month is going to be Important. (it's the 22.1 on one hand and it's also the 4. sunday in january...people always stop counting after three...) We will see who's the genius. Either it's mofftiss, because they just tricked thousands of people or it's us, the people who created the forth episode theory, us who found all the proofs and made up this amazing theory...
(and maybe they are genius and we are awesome too, and everyone is happy, because we where right and they planned it all along... but that wouldn't sound so dramatic, no life or death like situation, you know... happiness)

and yeah, i would like to see a 4th episode, just to clean up the mess and to answer the questions. Maybe you don't believe in this, and honestly, i don't care, because I will hope until the very end. I believe in them and also in this fandom, so
Moose and Squirrel Series 4 and the last few seasons of Doctor Who have made me lose faith in them. The fourth episode would be arbitrary as it was polished off at the end of the last episode. I'm sorry - but they didn't literally mean "we're going to make television history", it was just a fancy way of trying to hype up the show, because without hype, this season would be even worse.
Honestly, I'm just hoping there is no more episodes at this point (no Season 5) because it's just gonna keep getting worse and worse and worse.
Chris Ilott That's your opinion, and that's okay. I haven't seen the last few seasons of DW yet, and I understand that you don't believe in them, but i still want a 5th season. I don't know what they thought while making tfp, but now they know we don't like it... i just hope the show will get a Chance to become as great as it was, because the writers and actors are still the same, they did it once, they can do it again.
So don't get me wrong, I understand you, i was a little disappointed, too, mostly because of the plot holes, but i don't think they are Bad writers, so i believe in the 4th episode and a 5th season

As well as this, there is absolutely no evidence for a fourth episode other than the fact this one was so poor, that people desperately need another one to sort it out.
What world are you guys living in? No one liked The Final Problem. Some scenes were ok, but the amount of plot holes and discontinuities and cliches just made it bad.

guys... I actually loved season 4. Sure, episode three was different and kinda surreal - but it's still Sherlock. It's still brilliant. I don't get why everyone complains - the show is fantastic!

So this show basically went from an atmospheric, clever and well-written crime drama to a sci-fi comedy with fans only caring about the dating habits of the characters and the writers giving a shit about intelligent and consistent writing in favor of mind controlling supervillains and cheap fan service.

I missed the part where we all agreed it had been a brilliant episode.
I thought this episode was a joke. All I kept thinking was that the writers watched way too many Saw movies.
Honestly: I loved this series. I loved the finale. I think its like: ending may have a sudden cut but you know, its sherlock! Either he dies a hero or live long enough to become a bee keeper (Doyle fans would know the reference ;))
:p TFP is from John's POV and it's John's nightmare, accomplishing something similar to what TAB did for Sherlock. TAB had more detail in it because Sherlock is used to handling an insane amount of detail in his mind. He was also trying to remain focused on working on his "problem" in TAB. John doesn't have that sort of focus. John intuits everything. That's why the deductions were so simple. That's why the "lol what happened to John's legs in the well?" detail feels off. Because when you're dreaming, things don't quite make sense. You feel the emotional connection from one moment to the next but the physical transitions between those moments don't have to work.
What's John's problem? Well, when Jim enters with "I Want to Break Free," where does it cut off? Right before "love." John knows what he needs to do but still can't bring himself to take the risk and SAY it. Not at this part of the dream.
Then Molly, a John mirror, won't say "I love you" (as a code word--lol John, your dreams are precious, seriously) unless Sherlock says it first. John might need Sherlock to do that for him in our "secret" episode 4 this Sunday.
Then when Sherlock solves Euros's puzzle, the "lost without your love" part was either John's mental addition or it was one more "intentionally sloppy not-shown detail to create a dreamlike quality" because we don't have a gravestone with dates for that part of the cipher.
But yeah. John IS lost without Sherlock's love. John is the little girl on the plane. Sherlock is just the idiot on the ground who's gonna help him land. Euros probably really did shoot John. IRL Sherlock was probably already heading over, because the look on his face when he caught that MISS ME on Faith's note was "oh shit John is in danger" just like at the climax of TBB. John is going to think it was worth the wound, that it would be worth *many* wounds, to have gotten a glimpse of Sherlock's great heart. :3 Remember kids, it's not the fall that kills you, it's never the fall--it's the landing (and Sherlock is going to save John from this moment).
TFP is actually quite brilliant. We got a lot of Johntent there. I can't wait for episode four, seriously. I have never been this hyped for anything in my life (and my life includes a happy marriage and the birth of my awesome son, so... yikes!).
To all the casuals out there, watch TFP two more times through the John POV lens before Sunday and write your metas, lads! We about to get a proper Garridebs moment and I am exploding with excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the episode! I don't understand all the hate it has received.. especially if it goes against the actors & creators, that's just sad. I hope we get season 5 of Sherlock, but I wouldn't blame the writers if they decided not to after these "fan" reactions :/
probably, you should see that there are actually plotholes? like how was john able to go out of the well? is his feet chopped now? another one: why did moriarty kill himself? next: euros? just wanted to be noticed by her brothers so she needed to kill 6 or 7 ppl? if euros was like the boss/authority in sherrinford, then why the hell did she lock herself again in sherrinford by the end of the ep?!?
I think the robe actually served for someone to get into the well and unchain John, he was only seen grabbing the robe, not climbing out of the well.. as for the other plotholes, I don't know, but it doesn't change the fact for me that I was on the edge of my seat during the whole episode and that the acting was brilliant and the dialogues were
very clever and so much more!

We are fans, and that's why we're disappointed in the episode. Are you saying that whatever they make we should be happy with because it "goes against the creators"? I am absolutely gutted about this episode. It was so messy, and not witty, and full of plot holes and cliche freeze-frame endings; in other words, it did not live up to the expectations of what Sherlock is. You just be a new fan, because I for one know that the OGs who have spent time watching and rewatching episodes expected much better than what we were given. Maybe we had too high expectations, but in the end those expectations were created because the previous episodes were done so well. Mark Gatiss saying this episode was going to be "groundbreaking" probably raised those expectations as well. I'm very disappointed. Hopefully they do make season 5 (or a 4th episode!) because Sherlock meant a lot to me and so many others.

I never said these people aren't real fans, that's not my point. I am also not trying to compare who is more of a fan than the other based on their opinion of the episode (by the way I have been watching and rewatching Sherlock for years so your assumption about me is false). I just think that spreading hate towards creators/actors just because one ep didn't fulfill your expectations is rude, I am not saying that you shouldn't state your opinion on the show, but these are two different things to do ;)
Ok, if we are talking about ships, the first time I liked Adlock, then got over it and liked Sherlolly a bit but now I think we've had enough proof that Sherlock is in love with John. The Lying Detective made me feel this way and I've realized how slow I've been. Re-watched the first episode and realized that Johnlock is the only couple that exists.

Even though I did not like this episode nor the fourth series, Sherlock will always be Sherlock to me. We'll always have series 1-3. I do believe in Sherlock Holmes.

I love watching Sherlock Reacts, but I would love it even more if it was more rounded. Not everyone loved the show surely? Someone must have tweeted in with criticism, no?
For me the best seasons have been 1 & 2, after that it started to change Sherlock from the abrasive, annoying, cold character we all know and love into this troubled, emotionally vulnerable character that is nothing like the Holmes most us grew up on and want. Mary should never have been such a huge character in the series, its supposed to be about Holmes and Watson, and although I love what Gatiss has done with Mycroft he should of been kept in the background and brought out for really important cases or situations. The whole Moriarty teasing, is he dead or alive, was ridiculous. Of course he was dead, we all saw him blow the back of his head off and lay on the ground in front of Sherlock leaking after having a long drawn out conversation with the detective. You don't think Sherlock would have known if that actually wasn't Moriarty in front of him?? And demeaning such an incredible character by the silly red clips in The Final Problem was stupid and unnecessary. If there is another season, and I hope to God there is, then get it back to what Holmes and Watson should be all about, solving dark, complicated murders, not international espionage or deeply emotional character investigation. Get the boys back in Baker Street solving mysteries!!

I think the main problem has been with only 3 shows a season they tried to do to much to fast. All those ideas percolating in Moffat's head had to get out and so he steered the show in this direction so he could cover everything he wanted before the plug gets pulled.
I agree with most of what you said. Mary should have been kept in the background or aside. Lestrade and Molly work for us because they are in the background. The show is about Sherlock and John. I love Mycroft and was interesting to see him working with the boys for a while, I was also happy Sherlock finally recognized his brother loves him (has a weird way to show it) but it was worth it.
I've made my peaces long time ago series 1 and 2 are the best. Series 3 wasn't bad, was just different. I understand the characters had to progress and evolve. Moffat and Gatiss have confirmed they had to deconstruct Sherlock and in some extend John so if they come back (I hope so, but in 3 or 4 years) we can have the version of the books that we love so much.
We had to get John married to Mary for a while. Mary had to be the client and then die since all of it is canon. And Sherlock had to face all his demons. Now is a blank canvas and that exciting. They might as well put the words "new beginning" at the end of the episode but that would have been way too much on the nose. We now know who are the main players and their relationships to the boys, and they have the option to bring characters from the past that we haven't seen in a while.
Series 4 had a lot of things that bother me but the things that I like I really love. I don't see too many plotholes, not everything needs to happen onscreen. Some plots were too big, that's so true (Sherlock is better with small stories), The six thatcher's I didn't like although acting was still superb. In all I still enjoy and love the show a lot and hope they come back better than ever.
Fiorella Floríndez I love Lestrade, I am so glad they didn't make him a bungling fool in this show:) Its weird how you can love a series and yet still list problems that annoy you, lol. Its a little like loving someone and yet still see their bad points, but it doesn't change the love.
For me the best Sherlock Holmes ever put to screen is Jeremy Brett in the long running British tv show of Sherlock Holmes. Each of the original stories was televised as a show and he encompassed Holmes from the book. We talk about Jared Leto being a method actor and how he got into character for the Joker? Jeremy Brett did the same for his portrayal of Holmes, he got into the characters head and it pays off remarkably.
So yes, I agree, Holmes and Watson stories are made to be told perhaps in shorter segments, but that said, if they had the budget, four 10 episode seasons of Sherlock would have made it so much better. They could of told the stories we wanted to see, lengthened the time it took Sherlock and John's friendship to grow as they get used to each other and told us the tales from the books rather than them being thrown in as one minute clips to make a montage between more important scenes.
Agree, you can love something and still see the problems, it means you actually care about it. It would be bad if we get just indifferent, that would be a real problem for the show.
I've see Jeremy Brett and Basil Rathbone many times in their Sherlock versions, they were just amazing. Those are the very adult and mature Sherlock's, the wise ones. "The private life of Sherlock Holmes" is also a gem, a lot of that film is in the whole series, specially in " Scandal in Belgravia".
My 4 favourite episodes are in series 1 and 2. I think you can guess which ones are them. " The Hound of Bakervilles" is growing more on me each time too, both Benedict and Martin are wonderful there. But they are out of Baker street and the show works better when we put the boys there, it's the familiarity of the enviroment. One think I love of the show is the cinematography, specially when Paul Mcguigan directs, it gives a different dimension to the series, it completes the package.
All the big Mary plotlines were told almost in one episode. I didn't like they show all the espionage she did, I didn't need to see it. In "His last vow" it didn't bother me cause she became the client, she just told her story.... or just what we needed to know, that was enough for me, she is a badass I get it. Nobody should be as badass or clever as Sherlock ( that only works if you are a Holmes and in small dosis please) or the villan.
I love Lestrade too, he is not too smart nor stupid, he is the best of the lote and he should show it.
I'm glad we got rid of the big plotlines, there are soooooo many short stories of the books that can be put on screen and become masterpieces. Please come back with more. Until then I will read all the stories again and watch all the versions onscreen. It will be a long wait.

The shipping wars bring another meaning to "whining", "entitlement", and "pointless". All ships were made canon and at the same time none of them were. Yes, Sherlock and Molly said "I love you" to each other in terms that were not indicative of friendship, but it's not made clear whether Sherlock's feelings are platonic or romantic, or if he even acted on them. He and Irene Adler are confirmed to have banged on at least one occasion, but the extent of their current relationship seems to be occasional texting that according to Sherlock doesn't really mean anything. John and Sherlock apparently live in 221b and raise a daughter, but are "just" best friends/brothers in arms. Mary is the love of John's life and also dead. Honestly, in terms of shipping, people should stop bitching and start appreciating that Mofftis tried their best to make everybody as happy as possible.

Also, Johnlock is a ship and also a theory (i mean that there is no confirmation, only interpretations), so i don't understand why they get angry with the writers for saying something that wasn't "true". Its just an interpretation of sherlock and john, so i don't understand why some people claim that what should've happened didn't happen...

Ah, I knew I shouldn't have looked at the comments. But the video was amazingly positive and reflected a lot of my feelings- and the feelings of many others (probably the majority just not the... loud part of the people who watch this show)! I did read that it might be a bit before season 5 since Benedict and Martin are both involved in the MCU now (Dr. Strange apparently will show up in the new Thor, Name-I-Forget-Played-By-Martin will be in Black Panther (?), and then the massive crossover with Infinity War) so I was happy that it wasn't too big of a cliffhanger to end on! But even if it is the end, it's been wrapped up nicely and I'm happy with it. Also: YES THAT SHERLOLLY SCENE YESSSSSS!

leHungry Loved it for many reasons. Too many to fit here. Eurus picked the one person who'd break Sherlock. She knew Sherlock loved Molly. That's why she chose her. Just look at Sherlock's face the entire time.
I also love that Molly is in total control here. She owns Sherlock. She's not week. He begged her 6 times to say I love you. She wasn't going to pick up the phone. She made him say the I love you so that he'd know how hard it is to say it if you really mean it. And he says it twice.
That's why he lost. Sentiment is a defect found on the losing side. Once you've opened you're heart you can't close it again. This was about Sherlock's love for Molly as much as her love for him.
What D Watson said basically! Plus Sherlock finally realizing that he loves her back. Yes, it was heartbreaking and awful, but we do see a glimpse of a happy Molly helping out at Baker Street in the ending wrap-up sequence so we know they made up in some fashion and she doesn't resent him for it. Sure we didn't get to see much of the fall out from Eurus' murdery-escape-room-scenario, but given everything else in the show I'm sure we'll see it addressed once they're back for more.
Seriously, that 'I love you' at the sight of a bomb? Sherlock said I love you for three basic reasons: He mistakenly thought that Molly was in danger; She was slow to respond and time was running; He said in a way that sounded convincing because Molly demanded that he say 'I love you' as if he meant it. Molly is in full control because Sherlock is being blackmailed, otherwise he would have hung up the phone or simply refused to tell that lie. As for the final sequel to TFP, Molly coming in all smiling ... and alone. She must have understood the circumstances of the infamous 'I love you' and went to visit Baker Street. Her face says: Hey, your apartment looks beautiful! remember that Baker Street exploded, but only John and Sherlock were there redecorating their house, no one else, just the two of them! And the end says something? John / Sherlock / Rosie. It is what it is.
