This is my type of gun... I'm not a fan of guns, but I'm not stupid enough to say that I won't need one. If 'll ever be in a situation where I'll need a gun, I'd want it to be like this. Thanks for the honest review.
It seems to be the furthest thing from being a gun without losing the ranged lethality... If I'm on a mountain, or out in the woods, I want to have full freedom of movement to climb, crawl, dive-roll, fall, or squeeze in tight places. I can do this best without a gun on me at all, but in the wilderness, it's better to be safe than sorry. I don't want to feel the gun on me, but I always want options if we run into an angry bear, or psycho.
+Henry Rosenberg guns don't bother me at all... I'm just not a fan. It's like spicy food... some people are a fan, but I'm not. The fact that they are into it is fine with me though. I feel as though the more time I spend on my gun, the less time I spend on things that I actually enjoy... so, I'd want my gun to be as insignificant an impact on my life as possible. I am in NO way against guns... it's just not where MY passion is. It's just a tool to me that I may need one day, but hopefully not.

The trigger gives you control. So as you draw it your unlikely to discharge it early. Once on target you have to give it a positive effort to fire the round. This is a close combat personal protection weapon.
When gun companies release the same designs over and over that's not reinventing the wheel. When they make new, awkward designs "just cause" that is reinventing the wheel. And that seems to be what they've done here. Other than the potential snag reduced by not having sights I can't see a single advantage of this over one of the many other pistols of this size. And not having sights is a pretty big tradeoff for a gun that is pretty much the exact same size and weight as competitors. They didn't reduce anything, compare it directly to the Ruger LCP as just one example. This gun is *technically* both longer and thicker than the LCP. And you said it yourself, you will always feel a gun. Having a terrible trigger on this thing and no sights, plus what appears to be some pretty exceptional muzzle flip, makes for an accuracy nightmare especially for the average and beginning shooter, and especially once the adrenaline starts running which is precisely the kind of circumstance they're selling this gun for. I can't think of a single benefit to this over comparable pistols.
+cbn620 And an additional note on not having sights: Taurus says they find that most people don't use the sights in armed confrontations, but I don't believe that's entirely true. Even if you're looking past the sights, which is what people who've trained to use them are more likely to do under high stress, they may still act as a visual reference when both pointing and aiming the gun even if you're not taking the time to really dial them in. And most guns that exist and most training regimens that exist for shooting guns defensively require the use of sights. That means any Taurus Curve training is negative training that is going to make you worse at doing everything else you do. Further, even if we accepted that you won't need the sights in point blank person-to-person armed confrontations is that really the only scenario we want to focus on for the design of a gun? A very specific 5 foot away encounter? How about the off-duty LEO who reaches for this thing during the lull in fire of an active shooter scenario? Don't you think he or she is is going to want to have sights in that circumstance where they have the time to aim and are probably at a distance where they are actually going to have to in order to hit anything, especially with a gun that has a Subway sandwich for a trigger? There's guns that can be drawn, pointed and aimed very easily and smoothly from close distance that take up as much space and weight as this thing so it's not like you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can literally have the best of both worlds with other pistols. This gun just seems like the mother of all bad ideas in every regard.
GY6vids Yeah but it's just a white line with no front sight. Kind of goes back to the negative training aspect right there. Also reading up on it, the base version of this gun does not have the laser sight so that's another bummer. You have to pay up to get the pointer. It's also panned across reviews almost universally for being a really low power red that's all but useless. The little cheapy LED flashlight bulbs nearly drown it out completely, let alone actual bright conditions. They should've went with a green and given it some more power to make it visible on more backgrounds and in more diverse levels of lighting.
+cbn620 - The weapon is intended to be used at less than 30ft ranges. Why would you need conventional sights? You're just "pointing and shooting". Do you need precision sights to hit a man's chest at spitting distance? Seriously, most pocket autos for the past 100 years have had only a groove on the top of the slide for a sight. Taurus has certainly improved on that. As to the laser and lights, again, it's intended to aid the shooter in the *_dark_*. And both would be adequate in that situation. (Although I agree with the reviewer that putting a pressure switch on the grip would have been better.)
+cbn620 I completely understand everything you are saying COMPLETELY and agree with it myself HOWEVER when I think of this gun I don't think of it as something you or myself would carry (or probably anyone who's even watching this video) I see it as something for some young woman who just wants to feel safer walking down the streets. This is just for self defense and nothing more, and not to become the hero of a situation. A shooter is spotted near you and you have this gun alone all you have to do is go hide somewhere and point the gun where the shooter will come from and wait. For that person and that situation I think this is a great gun. To argue against say something like the LCP you used, I see this gun as more of an appeal than the LCP because to someone might be more open to carrying if they had this with, what looks like, nothing rough on the gun at all nice and smooth and wouldn't hurt a fragile woman. TBH I've actually thought about buying this for my mom. You see she stays at home mostly and is terrified of guns but if someone breaks in again she will need something and with this she could just go hide in her closet and point it at the door if the robber come in there she can shoot him easy no doubt. Not every gun is meant for "gun people" we need a few for the people who aren't because everyone needs to be able to defend themselves. I think that's what Taurus was thinking when they made this gun. (Especially since they are trying to make it available to even the most strict states)
I agree, for what it is...it's pretty good. For a low cost pocket carry 380acp, I prefer a Bersa ...but it can be a little heavy where the Taurus Curve is not. And having the light built in is very nice. A co-worker has put over 500 rounds thru his without issue, so you can't say it's a piece of crap. Also, I just appreciate the uniqueness.
It's absolutely unique and Taurus is capable of producing as good of a product as they want Making 1000s of something that has to be perfectly functional is a big task many just can't appreciate what it really takes just to introduce a single product much less a firearm
Taurus, that's funny, one of most popular revolver/pistol maker in the world, a brazilian company, but on Brazil it's impossible to buy a weapom to self defense, unless you are a bandit, they always find a way, that's funny... Great video chap. As a UK citizen, my experience (outside of my 14 year HMF career) of hand guns is fairly limited and I would in no way consider myself particularly knowledgeable. However, your video was spot on. It was concise and interesting and you have done what many fail at, creating a video that is relevant to your whole audience from the total newbie novice to a seasoned gun handler. Cheers

Honestly thank you for taking a practical stance on this gun and not nitpicking it like everyone else does to Taurus firearms. It is what it is, and in a pinch it will do the job, which is ultimately to protect yourself. Of course there's gonna be cons to the pros, but it's refreshing to see someone not immediately shit on an unorthodox gun.
Well designed. Went to local gun shop and it seems there is totally a bias against Taurus firearms. Was told they stopped carrying it after a few customers complained. In my opinion they seemed just against Taurus arms in general and it had nothing to do with the actual guns themselves. I recently purchased a G2 and love the looks and safety features, I have money and could have purchased anything I wanted and after doing the research I decided for the small investment it was definitely a worthwhile purchase. The gun shop tried to talk me into every other brand firearm persuading me not to buy a curve... I left the store feeling confused but after this review I feel I will definitely go buy the curve.
yeah there is a HUGE Bias against Taurus in the firearms community. Luckily I don't follow the crowd and do my own research. There are products they make I don't like, but non that deserve the hatred they receive.
For a gun specifically designed for cc this is an excellent first step. Innovative and forward thinking, can't wait to see what subsequent models are going to look like as they further refine and tweak.

Awesome video and great shooting! I own this gun. I did a little research on it before purchasing it, but I bought it because it was exactly what I was looking for. I have an officer's model 1911 .45 and a 9mm Sig SP2022, and if any of you know guns, they're fairly large and heavy, even with my 3" barrel 1911. The Curve is one of many ideal conceal carry firearms because it is so light weight and low profile. It fits in my pocket, on the waistband of my pants, and in my purse without any problems. I agree, however, that there should be a pressure activated lazer instead of the switch, but I upgraded the cross hairs with some glow in the dark paint to make them pop just in case I'm in a situation and can't get my light on. the curve is nice when I'm wearing comfortable pants (i.e. yoga pants or the like) or shorts because I bought this firearm with the intention of using it on my morning and evening jogs. You can never be too careful. I have, however, discovered that I carry it with me wherever I go. Even if I have my Sig or 1911 open carry on my belt, I still have this little guy in my purse or ankle holster just in case. It is everything he described and yes the trigger could use some work, but other than the trigger and the lazer placement, I love this firearm. A few of my male friends gave me shit for owning one until they shot it. Three out four went out and bought one for their wives after a day at the range. Don't diss it until you try it folks. It's purpose is to go bang in stressful situations. Not to be used in speed shooting, and I thank Taurus for not giving a crap what anyone thinks because I love this firearm.
Danielle You actually *can* be too careful, it's called paranoia, and aside from a serious disconnect with reality, it also leads to terrible choices. This isn't an anti-gun opinion, it simply came to mind when you said you run with it in your yoga pants. In that situation, how is pepper spray not a 1000x better idea?
Pepper spray is never a better idea than a proper gun. a) it's a round container, doesn't fit anywhere on your body; b) pepper spray doesn't work on everyone; c) gun has the potential for complete immobilization, whereas you can still get raped by a drugged out meathead with teary eyes; A gun is something personal, it's dangerous so you take care of it, it becomes part of your personality and daily routine. A key point in owning a gun is that it becomes your primary form of self-defense. It allows you to get complete control of your environment. Pepper spray is a cute toy when compared to a gun.

I'd prefer it in the grip, like the safety on an H&K P7. I don't know that having to hold the trigger down just to keep the illumination on is such a great idea.

Thank YOU for appreciating something different in a world of tactical yet lifeless designs we've been seeing in the past decade. I actually initially thought the flashlight laser was some kinda contact fire but tase them before you blast type thing. Taurus should definitely expand upon this. Yeah, in the end it's an underwhelming product. But I can see how with some sig SAS sights, a present day trigger, emphasis on reliability and simplicity could make this a hot item for sure.
I've had the curve for 2 years now. I love carrying it every day! I practice with it regularly. The laser sight and flashlight combo are a must for anyone thinking of buying this firearm.
I love this gun. Never shot it, but honestly I think that it is a piece of art. It's designed for safety but usefulness, all while consider ergonomics and including laser and light technology. This would be a perfect leg or arm gun with the right holster. Seriously, this is product of genius and innovation.
nah, i like the trigger. not from a "nice to shoot" standpoint but from a utility standpoint. if you are shooting THIS particular gun in a legit situation, you are not going to be shooting properly. you are just going to be hammering on that trigger as hard as you can once your adrenaline kicks in, because you are probably past the point where anything but "put this bullet in that dude" is on your mind. it's an obvious "only option" panic gun. this gun is built from the ground up for "fuck fuck fuck oh god oh god" type situations where you are a blink away from catching a knife/round in the ribs. everything about it is built around drawing, pointing, and shooting in less than a second. probably less than 10-15 feet, and probably against an active forward moving aggressor. i think it fills this role super well. i wouldn't want to bring it out to the range with me or carry it as a primary, but it would make an excellent boot gun for those "all else fails" moments.

When you're between reloading it is common to keep "One In the Chamber" to use for defending yourself during reloading process. Someone attacks you during your reload you can use that 1 round to shoot, with the magazine disconnect safety, it prohibits that action because you will not be able to fire the gun with the magazine out. It also teaches pore gun handling safety because most people(Especially New Shooters) will become lazy with how they treat their firearm due to thinking the gun is "SAFE" when the magazine is out...but it comes down to two simple facts...1: Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction AT ALL TIMES, so if there is a discharge of the firearm on accident NO ONE will be hurt. 2: Always keep your finger OFF the trigger unless you're pointed at your intended target and ready to fire the gun.... With those 2 simple rules and safety steps, NO ONE will unintentionally get hurt.
@GY6Vids Remember the other 2 golden rules: 3: Treat EVERY gun as if it is loaded at ALL times. 4: Before putting your finger on the trigger, assess the target, and what is beside or beyond it.
The Taurus honestly looks really cool, and it looks like a good conceal carry weapon because of its size. I might get it when i'm older. Thansk for shouting it out

Just because a state government isn't firearms friendly, it doesn't mean those *in* that state who choose to defend themselves should be bereft of options. Many people live in certain places for important reasons that don't have to do with firearms laws and have little or no option to move simply because they don't like their state's opinion of magazine safeties. Aside from that, great video. Well thought out and presented!
A Magazine disconnect safety means that if your clip leaves the gun and a bullet is still in the chamber, it can't be fired. I LIKE THAT SAFETY FEATURE. How many people have BLOWN THEIR HEADS OFF by accident due to "one in the chamber"?
bigtruckseriesreview The issue is that it teaches you to rely on a "Safety Feature" of the firearm, rather than proper handgun safety steps. #1 Rule "Always assume the gun is loaded" so you ALWAYS Check to see if the firearms is clear of ammunition. The other main issue I have is that if worst case situation came into effect, and you draw you firearm to defend yourself, you have a round chambered or you chamber a round, and for some reason you happen to not seat you mag all the way, you will be dead in the water but by the time you realize it....its too late. Another issue with Mag Disconnect Safeties, is that if you are in a very bad situation and you have to reload your firearm, and you are using a tactical reload by keeping one in the chamber for defense while you firearm is being topped off, you cant even use that tactic, due to the Mag Safety. All in all, I'd rather not have all these other issues, and just use proper firearm safety steps and check to make sure my gun is clear, before cleaning it, or working on it. Hope you have a new opinion on why a LOT of handgun owners, Disapprove of the Mag Disconnect "Safety."
I get it. Like you said crappy trigger, mag disc. etc. But this is not a gun lovers gun. This is a gun for a person who NEEDS the protection of personal carry. Love has nothing to do with it, it's a business decision...OK.

Imagine being shot at and having the big brain power to hear and identify the round before it hits you so you can know it's low power and only a few spots will probably drop or kill me so instead of running for cover you decide to continue forward towards a person still shooting. Just a prime reason why everyone needs to try a firearm on their own and train with it to see what works for them. Me personally, I loved the concept but absolutely hate the execution. Great concept. But, for me, the slide release by mag cycling, the accidental mag drop due to mag release positioning, the false reset that disables the fire arm without a complicated re-rack means, for me, a NO with a large exclamation mark. To those who love it, practice well and shoot well. Huge respect to Taurus for the innovation. Hope they can master the improvements.

It's pretty clever for 95% of all carrying situations (I.E. any time your in public and want something OUT OF VIEW (most get nervous around magnums).) *FOR THOSE CONFUSED: this gun is like the PRIUS, not anywhere near the best car, but PRACTICAL*, saves you money, looks kinda lame, but who cares it gets you to the gun range, *PLUS you can always keep your .45 DAN WESSON VALOR 1911 nearby for taking to the range (or any serious trouble lol).*
Good review! I love my curve! Yes the trigger is crap, yes the mag release is weird and I agree on the light/laser switch. But it goes bang every time and it practically disappears in my pocket. It is an amazing "get off me gun". The light switch sucks, the light is dim as is the laser and the batteries do not last long at all. I give it 8 out of 10.
I know someone who has one. She wears it in a thigh holster when she's wearin skirts. Says its the best thing to carry in those kinds of outfits even though she prefers her glock 17. Never played with one myself but it sounds interesting =D
Taurus engineers/designers didn’t think ‘out of the box’ on this design. Taurus purchased the design patent and then added numerous features that dumbed down the innovation of the original design. Interestingly, it was originally designed as a front pocket EDC, curving to the thigh. The curved design is a ‘love it or hate it’ design in general. Regardless of personal preference, it’s definitely innovative. Unfortunate that Taurus engineers/designers felt the need to make so many amendments to the original design.

I like it for the same reasons this guy says. Also it's a clever answer to a genuine problem of guns being uncomfortable to wear sometimes, and the more squared off shape having a tenancy to get caught in clothes. They've basically just smoothed off a small automatic pistol and removed the open sites (that most people won't use) and replaced them with laser sights (that most people will). Makes sense, and I bet it's very good at what it's been designed for.
+Michel Linschoten it mostly depends on weight and really nothing else. Let's say we have a 20 inch gun shooting 9 mm with a really heavy barrel would have nearly any recoil ( I think ;)). Compared to this.
I have a Curve and love it. It replaced a TCP .380 that I started having problems with. I love the trigger. If a bad guy is coming at you, you don't just squeezing the trigger a fraction of a mm at the time. You point the gun at the bad guy, and put all your strength on that trigger. You need to aim and fire in milliseconds. If you actually have an issue pulling a 10 pound trigger, you have a problem. I do agree about the laser/light switch. But I have gotten a good feel for it, and don't think I'll have a problem if it actually comes down to having to defend myself, which hopefully never happens. I use it for pocket carry. Literally. No holster. The clip fits on the outside of my jeans pocket. My TCP .380 would fit down inside my pocket, but it would have eventually worn a hole in the pocket, and it could snag while trying to get it out of my pocket. So I carried it in a cell phone type holster on my belt, which worked fine. I would still have it if not for failure to feed issues. I have had no such issues (so far) with the Curve. Is it perfect? No. But it's damn good. You seem to want it to be what it is specifically designed NOT to be. A target pistol. They do need a more precise trigger. But this one does not. Do you really want to shoot yourself in the leg because you accidentally pulled the trigger while drawing it from your pocket? I don't.

The gun is meant for shooting assailants at very close range, not plinking. But hey, if you love your XD, your mind is made up.
If you train with it, and it's comfortable enough to get you to carry. Then hats off to Taurus. It's probably not the gun for me, but I do like that they are thinking outside of the box and are trying to expand their reach.
I like the idea of a minimalist concealed carry because I live in South Florida, so the lighter and smaller the better for the clothing we where, but for my size it’s too small. So not for me, but I could definitely see people liking it
Even a full frame .380 has a big kick, just based on the size of the round compared to the frame. I would expect the recoil to be very big, but you're missing the point- you can carry this gun so easily. A little extra kick in a life threatening sitch is not worth worrying about.
concealed carry guns, usually have a kick you're talking about a powerful Amo being pushed from a smaller barrel but still the same full power to push the bullet. so I think most small conceal carry guns are going to have a recoil. if you are sensitive to recoil, ie: arthritis or joint hand issues. there are smaller carry guns that do have a smaller recoil. and there is always smaller caliber, .22. which some ppl feel is not a good enough gun for protection. I've learned that when you fill a bad guy or girl full of bullets, they usually stop
The light/ laser button is slide for quick laser and light. The light/laser button is push and hold in also. Modes are laser, laser and light and laser with strobe light. Also the trigger guard turns whatever mode you have it on off when installed on the gun then the laser/light comes back on when the guard is removed in whatever the last mode setting was.
Owning a good firearm, and carefully choosing weapon, ammo and size are only about 25% of the game. Whatever you have is not worth a crap if you don't practice...I have three different EDCs for "dress up, informal or casual dress" that I am carrying at least one, if not two when I leave home. If I am expecting to be someplace where I know things could get ugly, I have two others for that. I know it's a lot, but I fire 30-50 rounds through the first three every month. The other two, about 100 every 3 to 5 months. Yes I shoot a lot of reloads; yes I have a indoor range membership. CC is a very serious business. You're protecting yourself, plus everyone around you. Nate Skaggs I know it most of those concealed carry guns, for example the M&P .380 bodyguard, has such a heavy trigger pull and I guess the trigger pull heaviness is for safety reasons..
5lbs seems to be safe for most other manufacturers. I mean there is a difference between safe vs badly designed and obnoxiously heavy. This trigger reminded me of those old generic Makarov knock offs that were being imported for like $125 about 10 or so years ago. Or even the old Saturday night special Titans and Jennings/Cobra pocket guns. I think the idea of the gun is pretty sweet, it's definitely before it's time which is probably why the trigger sucks and it wasn't as reliable as I would have liked. Went to Taurus twice and each time I tested it was just as bad as the first outing. I do have to say their customer service is top notch. But paying $120 to send them a gun twice that probably could have been test and tuned a little bit longer before release is a bit steep. I mean I could have just bought a middle weight contending firearm from a higher end competitor. Which sadly is exactly what I ended up doing. Moral of the story folks? I shouldn't have had to buy two guns to get one good functioning defense weapon. Every manufacturer puts out lemons. I understand that but I wasn't the only one that had the Curve. 2 other folks I personally know had the same problems and felt the same way. They on the other hand didn't send the guns in due to me sending it and it not improving. Just my 0.02 YMMV

I wear suits all the time. Guns like that are best for me to carry especially if I'm in a busy place. Bigger guns are very easy to see through a suit, no matter how you carry or what holsters you use

Residents must also declare at what address it will be kept. There is a 10-day waiting period from purchase of firearm to possession, and a 30-day period between purchases of successive handguns. Long gun registration is allowed for persons 18-21 years of age with a NCIC qualified adult co-registering. A key feature which was missed in the video is the trigger guard. This too protects against accidental discharge and comes with a paracord attached. Personally, I replaced the paracord with a short biker wallet chain and carry the firearm in the right rear pants pocket where it prints as if it is a wallet. Upon drawing the weapon, the retention chain rips the trigger guard off. Press the large button on the right for lights and it's ready to go. Hope this helps as, carrying this way, the Taurus Curve has become my favorite summer concealment option.
This can can curve bullets around corners if you swing it when you shoot. My friend showed me and it was insane. He was able to curve the shots 90 degrees.
It's really sad that Taurus was founded in Brazil and they make very good handguns for self-defence, but we don't have de right to have a gun to carry around. But criminals, guess what, they don't obey the laws. So we, people that desire a better world, don't have the right to use a gun ;D For a short comparison: A small handgun that is priced around 300,00 USD (1000,00 BRL) in USA, costs about 1200,00 USD here (4000,00++ BRL). That's funny, because in black market they sell it for around 100 USD (400~500 BRL).

I can do this best without a gun on me at all, but in the wilderness, it's better to be safe than sorry. I don't want to feel the gun on me, but I always want options if we run into an angry bear, or psycho.

This was after 2 full warning shots mind you. 2 of the aggressors figured it out but there's always gonnah be that one fktard.
The trigger gives you control. So as you draw it your unlikely to discharge it early. Once on target you have to give it a positive effort to fire the round. This is a close combat personal protection weapon.
When gun companies release the same designs over and over that's not reinventing the wheel. When they make new, awkward designs "just cause" that is reinventing the wheel. And that seems to be what they've done here. Other than the potential snag reduced by not having sights I can't see a single advantage of this over one of the many other pistols of this size. And not having sights is a pretty big tradeoff for a gun that is pretty much the exact same size and weight as competitors. They didn't reduce anything, compare it directly to the Ruger LCP as just one example. This gun is *technically* both longer and thicker than the LCP. And you said it yourself, you will always feel a gun. Having a terrible trigger on this thing and no sights, plus what appears to be some pretty exceptional muzzle flip, makes for an accuracy nightmare especially for the average and beginning shooter, and especially once the adrenaline starts running which is precisely the kind of circumstance they're selling this gun for. I can't think of a single benefit to this over comparable pistols.
+cbn620 And an additional note on not having sights: Taurus says they find that most people don't use the sights in armed confrontations, but I don't believe that's entirely true. Even if you're looking past the sights, which is what people who've trained to use them are more likely to do under high stress, they may still act as a visual reference when both pointing and aiming the gun even if you're not taking the time to really dial them in. And most guns that exist and most training regimens that exist for shooting guns defensively require the use of sights. That means any Taurus Curve training is negative training that is going to make you worse at doing everything else you do. Further, even if we accepted that you won't need the sights in point blank person-to-person armed confrontations is that really the only scenario we want to focus on for the design of a gun? A very specific 5 foot away encounter? How about the off-duty LEO who reaches for this thing during the lull in fire of an active shooter scenario? Don't you think he or she is is going to want to have sights in that circumstance where they have the time to aim and are probably at a distance where they are actually going to have to in order to hit anything, especially with a gun that has a Subway sandwich for a trigger? There's guns that can be drawn, pointed and aimed very easily and smoothly from close distance that take up as much space and weight as this thing so it's not like you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can literally have the best of both worlds with other pistols. This gun just seems like the mother of all bad ideas in every regard.

Yeah but it's just a white line with no front sight. Kind of goes back to the negative training aspect right there. Also reading up on it, the base version of this gun does not have the laser sight so that's another bummer. You have to pay up to get the pointer. It's also panned across reviews almost universally for being a really low power red that's all but useless. The little cheapy LED flashlight bulbs nearly drown it out completely, let alone actual bright conditions. They should've went with a green and given it some more power to make it visible on more backgrounds and in more diverse levels of lighting.

Seriously, most pocket autos for the past 100 years have had only a groove on the top of the slide for a sight. Taurus has certainly improved on that.
As to the laser and lights, again, it's intended to aid the shooter in the *_dark_*. And both would be adequate in that situation. (Although I agree with the reviewer that putting a pressure switch on the grip would have been better.)
+cbn620 I completely understand everything you are saying COMPLETELY and agree with it myself HOWEVER when I think of this gun I don't think of it as something you or myself would carry (or probably anyone who's even watching this video) I see it as something for some young woman who just wants to feel safer walking down the streets. This is just for self defense and nothing more, and not to become the hero of a situation. A shooter is spotted near you and you have this gun alone all you have to do is go hide somewhere and point the gun where the shooter will come from and wait. For that person and that situation I think this is a great gun. To argue against say something like the LCP you used, I see this gun as more of an appeal than the LCP because to someone might be more open to carrying if they had this with, what looks like, nothing rough on the gun at all nice and smooth and wouldn't hurt a fragile woman. TBH I've actually thought about buying this for my mom. You see she stays at home mostly and is terrified of guns but if someone breaks in again she will need something and with this she could just go hide in her closet and point it at the door if the robber come in there she can shoot him easy no doubt. Not every gun is meant for "gun people" we need a few for the people who aren't because everyone needs to be able to defend themselves. I think that's what Taurus was thinking when they made this gun. (Especially since they are trying to make it available to even the most strict states)
I agree, for what it is...it's pretty good. For a low cost pocket carry 380acp, I prefer a Bersa ...but it can be a little heavy where the Taurus Curve is not. And having the light built in is very nice. A co-worker has put over 500 rounds thru his without issue, so you can't say it's a piece of crap. Also, I just appreciate the uniqueness.

Honestly thank you for taking a practical stance on this gun and not nitpicking it like everyone else does to Taurus firearms. It is what it is, and in a pinch it will do the job, which is ultimately to protect yourself. Of course there's gonna be cons to the pros, but it's refreshing to see someone not immediately shit on an unorthodox gun.
Well designed. Went to local gun shop and it seems there is totally a bias against Taurus firearms. Was told they stopped carrying it after a few customers complained. In my opinion they seemed just against Taurus arms in general and it had nothing to do with the actual guns themselves. I recently purchased a G2 and love the looks and safety features, I have money and could have purchased anything I wanted and after doing the research I decided for the small investment it was definitely a worthwhile purchase. The gun shop tried to talk me into every other brand firearm persuading me not to buy a curve... I left the store feeling confused but after this review I feel I will definitely go buy the curve.
yeah there is a HUGE Bias against Taurus in the firearms community. Luckily I don't follow the crowd and do my own research. There are products they make I don't like, but non that deserve the hatred they receive.

Awesome video and great shooting! I own this gun. I did a little research on it before purchasing it, but I bought it because it was exactly what I was looking for. I have an officer's model 1911 .45 and a 9mm Sig SP2022, and if any of you know guns, they're fairly large and heavy, even with my 3" barrel 1911. The Curve is one of many ideal conceal carry firearms because it is so light weight and low profile. It fits in my pocket, on the waistband of my pants, and in my purse without any problems. I agree, however, that there should be a pressure activated lazer instead of the switch, but I upgraded the cross hairs with some glow in the dark paint to make them pop just in case I'm in a situation and can't get my light on. the curve is nice when I'm wearing comfortable pants (i.e. yoga pants or the like) or shorts because I bought this firearm with the intention of using it on my morning and evening jogs. You can never be too careful. I have, however, discovered that I carry it with me wherever I go. Even if I have my Sig or 1911 open carry on my belt, I still have this little guy in my purse or ankle holster just in case. It is everything he described and yes the trigger could use some work, but other than the trigger and the lazer placement, I love this firearm. A few of my male friends gave me shit for owning one until they shot it. Three out four went out and bought one for their wives after a day at the range. Don't diss it until you try it folks. It's purpose is to go bang in stressful situations. Not to be used in speed shooting, and I thank Taurus for not giving a crap what anyone thinks because I love this firearm.

a) it's a round container, doesn't fit anywhere on your body;

A gun is something personal, it's dangerous so you take care of it, it becomes part of your personality and daily routine. A key point in owning a gun is that it becomes your primary form of self-defense. It allows you to get complete control of your environment. Pepper spray is a cute toy when compared to a gun.

Thank YOU for appreciating something different in a world of tactical yet lifeless designs we've been seeing in the past decade. I actually initially thought the flashlight laser was some kinda contact fire but tase them before you blast type thing. Taurus should definitely expand upon this. Yeah, in the end it's an underwhelming product. But I can see how with some sig SAS sights, a present day trigger, emphasis on reliability and simplicity could make this a hot item for sure.
This little gun is awesome. My hat's off to Taurus for the inovation.

I've had the curve for 2 years now. I love carrying it every day! I practice with it regularly. The laser sight and flashlight combo are a must for anyone thinking of buying this firearm.
The laser is worthless! Get maybe 2 rounds off before it needs adjusting AGAIN! As the gun goes I've put over 2000 rounds without any issues.
I love this gun. Never shot it, but honestly I think that it is a piece of art. It's designed for safety but usefulness, all while consider ergonomics and including laser and light technology. This would be a perfect leg or arm gun with the right holster. Seriously, this is product of genius and innovation.

this gun is built from the ground up for "fuck fuck fuck oh god oh god" type situations where you are a blink away from catching a knife/round in the ribs.
everything about it is built around drawing, pointing, and shooting in less than a second. probably less than 10-15 feet, and probably against an active forward moving aggressor.
i think it fills this role super well. i wouldn't want to bring it out to the range with me or carry it as a primary, but it would make an excellent boot gun for those "all else fails" moments.

7:45. Excuse my naivety, what is wrong with 'magazine disconnect safety'? To a none gun owner it sounds like a great idea.
When you're between reloading it is common to keep "One In the Chamber" to use for defending yourself during reloading process. Someone attacks you during your reload you can use that 1 round to shoot, with the magazine disconnect safety, it prohibits that action because you will not be able to fire the gun with the magazine out.
It also teaches pore gun handling safety because most people(Especially New Shooters) will become lazy with how they treat their firearm due to thinking the gun is "SAFE" when the magazine is out...but it comes down to two simple facts...1: Keep the gun pointed in a safe direction AT ALL TIMES, so if there is a discharge of the firearm on accident NO ONE will be hurt. 2: Always keep your finger OFF the trigger unless you're pointed at your intended target and ready to fire the gun....
With those 2 simple rules and safety steps, NO ONE will unintentionally get hurt.

I respectfully disagree. Just because a state government isn't firearms friendly, it doesn't mean those *in* that state who choose to defend themselves should be bereft of options. Many people live in certain places for important reasons that don't have to do with firearms laws and have little or no option to move simply because they don't like their state's opinion of magazine safeties.

A Magazine disconnect safety means that if your clip leaves the gun and a bullet is still in the chamber, it can't be fired.

How many people have BLOWN THEIR HEADS OFF by accident due to "one in the chamber"?
bigtruckseriesreview The issue is that it teaches you to rely on a "Safety Feature" of the firearm, rather than proper handgun safety steps. #1 Rule "Always assume the gun is loaded" so you ALWAYS Check to see if the firearms is clear of ammunition.
The other main issue I have is that if worst case situation came into effect, and you draw you firearm to defend yourself, you have a round chambered or you chamber a round, and for some reason you happen to not seat you mag all the way, you will be dead in the water but by the time you realize it....its too late.
Another issue with Mag Disconnect Safeties, is that if you are in a very bad situation and you have to reload your firearm, and you are using a tactical reload by keeping one in the chamber for defense while you firearm is being topped off, you cant even use that tactic, due to the Mag Safety.
All in all, I'd rather not have all these other issues, and just use proper firearm safety steps and check to make sure my gun is clear, before cleaning it, or working on it.
Hope you have a new opinion on why a LOT of handgun owners, Disapprove of the Mag Disconnect "Safety."

Just a prime reason why everyone needs to try a firearm on their own and train with it to see what works for them. Me personally, I loved the concept but absolutely hate the execution. Great concept. But, for me, the slide release by mag cycling, the accidental mag drop due to mag release positioning, the false reset that disables the fire arm without a complicated re-rack means, for me, a NO with a large exclamation mark. To those who love it, practice well and shoot well. Huge respect to Taurus for the innovation. Hope they can master the improvements.

*FOR THOSE CONFUSED: this gun is like the PRIUS, not anywhere near the best car, but PRACTICAL*, saves you money, looks kinda lame, but who cares it gets you to the gun range, *PLUS you can always keep your .45 DAN WESSON VALOR 1911 nearby for taking to the range (or any serious trouble lol).*
Good review! I love my curve! Yes the trigger is crap, yes the mag release is weird and I agree on the light/laser switch. But it goes bang every time and it practically disappears in my pocket. It is an amazing "get off me gun".
The light switch sucks, the light is dim as is the laser and the batteries do not last long at all.
I give it 8 out of 10.

My girlfriend has one..easy to use, clean, and shoot. Only good for up close and personal confrontation..accurate to about 15yds.
I know someone who has one. She wears it in a thigh holster when she's wearin skirts. Says its the best thing to carry in those kinds of outfits even though she prefers her glock 17. Never played with one myself but it sounds interesting =D

Taurus engineers/designers didn’t think ‘out of the box’ on this design. Taurus purchased the design patent and then added numerous features that dumbed down the innovation of the original design. Interestingly, it was originally designed as a front pocket EDC, curving to the thigh. The curved design is a ‘love it or hate it’ design in general. Regardless of personal preference, it’s definitely innovative. Unfortunate that Taurus engineers/designers felt the need to make so many amendments to the original design.

That trigger pull is what I have in my dreams.
I like it for the same reasons this guy says. Also it's a clever answer to a genuine problem of guns being uncomfortable to wear sometimes, and the more squared off shape having a tenancy to get caught in clothes. They've basically just smoothed off a small automatic pistol and removed the open sites (that most people won't use) and replaced them with laser sights (that most people will). Makes sense, and I bet it's very good at what it's been designed for.

For a small firearm, that looks like an awfully strong recoil.
Smaller, lighter firearms will always have more felt recoil than a larger, heavier gun firing the same ammunition.

+Michel Linschoten it mostly depends on weight and really nothing else. Let's say we have a 20 inch gun shooting 9 mm with a really heavy barrel would have nearly any recoil ( I think ;)). Compared to this.
Badass little gun. Definitely purpose built with some pretty useful tools built in.
I have a Curve and love it. It replaced a TCP .380 that I started having problems with. I love the trigger. If a bad guy is coming at you, you don't just squeezing the trigger a fraction of a mm at the time. You point the gun at the bad guy, and put all your strength on that trigger. You need to aim and fire in milliseconds. If you actually have an issue pulling a 10 pound trigger, you have a problem. I do agree about the laser/light switch. But I have gotten a good feel for it, and don't think I'll have a problem if it actually comes down to having to defend myself, which hopefully never happens. I use it for pocket carry. Literally. No holster. The clip fits on the outside of my jeans pocket. My TCP .380 would fit down inside my pocket, but it would have eventually worn a hole in the pocket, and it could snag while trying to get it out of my pocket. So I carried it in a cell phone type holster on my belt, which worked fine. I would still have it if not for failure to feed issues. I have had no such issues (so far) with the Curve. Is it perfect? No. But it's damn good. You seem to want it to be what it is specifically designed NOT to be. A target pistol. They do need a more precise trigger. But this one does not. Do you really want to shoot yourself in the leg because you accidentally pulled the trigger while drawing it from your pocket? I don't.

I like the idea of a minimalist concealed carry because I live in South Florida, so the lighter and smaller the better for the clothing we where, but for my size it’s too small.

Even a full frame .380 has a big kick, just based on the size of the round compared to the frame. I would expect the recoil to be very big, but you're missing the point- you can carry this gun so easily. A little extra kick in a life threatening sitch is not worth worrying about.
concealed carry guns, usually have a kick you're talking about a powerful Amo being pushed from a smaller barrel but still the same full power to push the bullet. so I think most small conceal carry guns are going to have a recoil. if you are sensitive to recoil, ie: arthritis or joint hand issues. there are smaller carry guns that do have a smaller recoil. and there is always smaller caliber, .22. which some ppl feel is not a good enough gun for protection. I've learned that when you fill a bad guy or girl full of bullets, they usually stop
The light/ laser button is slide for quick laser and light. The light/laser button is push and hold in also. Modes are laser, laser and light and laser with strobe light. Also the trigger guard turns whatever mode you have it on off when installed on the gun then the laser/light comes back on when the guard is removed in whatever the last mode setting was.

Owning a good firearm, and carefully choosing weapon, ammo and size are only about 25% of the game. Whatever you have is not worth a crap if you don't practice...I have three different EDCs for "dress up, informal or casual dress" that I am carrying at least one, if not two when I leave home. If I am expecting to be someplace where I know things could get ugly, I have two others for that. I know it's a lot, but I fire 30-50 rounds through the first three every month. The other two, about 100 every 3 to 5 months. Yes I shoot a lot of reloads; yes I have a indoor range membership. CC is a very serious business. You're protecting yourself, plus everyone around you. Nate Skaggs I know it most of those concealed carry guns, for example the M&P .380 bodyguard, has such a heavy trigger pull and I guess the trigger pull heaviness is for safety reasons..
heavy trigger pull is pretty common for a concealed carry gun with no safety
5lbs seems to be safe for most other manufacturers. I mean there is a difference between safe vs badly designed and obnoxiously heavy. This trigger reminded me of those old generic Makarov knock offs that were being imported for like $125 about 10 or so years ago. Or even the old Saturday night special Titans and Jennings/Cobra pocket guns. I think the idea of the gun is pretty sweet, it's definitely before it's time which is probably why the trigger sucks and it wasn't as reliable as I would have liked. Went to Taurus twice and each time I tested it was just as bad as the first outing. I do have to say their customer service is top notch. But paying $120 to send them a gun twice that probably could have been test and tuned a little bit longer before release is a bit steep. I mean I could have just bought a middle weight contending firearm from a higher end competitor. Which sadly is exactly what I ended up doing. Moral of the story folks? I shouldn't have had to buy two guns to get one good functioning defense weapon. Every manufacturer puts out lemons. I understand that but I wasn't the only one that had the Curve. 2 other folks I personally know had the same problems and felt the same way. They on the other hand didn't send the guns in due to me sending it and it not improving. Just my 0.02 YMMV
So now, nearly 3 years later, what is your take on the Curve? Was it merely a blip on the radar, or is it still a thing? If you like "outside the box" designs, how about the Chiappa Rino? Good review. Cheers.
Still running strong, definitely NOT MY GO TO, but it is strange and fun gun to shoot. Surprisingly accurate and comfortable to shoot.

I wear suits all the time. Guns like that are best for me to carry especially if I'm in a busy place. Bigger guns are very easy to see through a suit, no matter how you carry or what holsters you use

A key feature which was missed in the video is the trigger guard. This too protects against accidental discharge and comes with a paracord attached.
Personally, I replaced the paracord with a short biker wallet chain and carry the firearm in the right rear pants pocket where it prints as if it is a wallet. Upon drawing the weapon, the retention chain rips the trigger guard off. Press the large button on the right for lights and it's ready to go.
Hope this helps as, carrying this way, the Taurus Curve has become my favorite summer concealment option.

It's really sad that Taurus was founded in Brazil and they make very good handguns for self-defence, but we don't have de right to have a gun to carry around. But criminals, guess what, they don't obey the laws. So we, people that desire a better world, don't have the right to use a gun ;D
For a short comparison: A small handgun that is priced around 300,00 USD (1000,00 BRL) in USA, costs about 1200,00 USD here (4000,00++ BRL). That's funny, because in black market they sell it for around 100 USD (400~500 BRL).
