      I had a pre term delivery with my first born at 33 weeks AOG. I had no signs of contractions prior to delivery except for the rapture of my water bag. Then I was adviced by my OB to go to the hospital. When they checked, I was already 6cm dilated. I don't completely understand why I had to deliver early except that a month prior to giving birth, i found out I had multiple bacteria counts in my WBC a sign of infection. Probably the infection was not treated so soon. Now that I am on my second pregnancy, I wanna know all the possible prevention to avoid pre term delivery again. Please tell me what to do. Thanks a lot.

      @@yvethfulgueras9128 Thanks for asking. I think you have very good insight on what happened. Premature rupture of membranes or the amniotic sac is usually caused by infection. Prior to that happening, your cervix may start to dilate silently. This happens because your body is trying to fix you and sees your baby as a strain on the body. If you deliver the baby, your bodies resources can then go to treating the infection. For this pregnancy, keep an eye on discharge. Discharge is normal during pregnancy but certain types of discharge can be a sign of infection. If you see any changes in amount, color, or smell, have your provider check you out. You also want to avoid UTIs which can cause systemic infection and preterm labor. Yeast infections are also an issue. Pay attention for signs of preterm labor such as abdominal or back pain that comes and goes, abdominal hardening, or the urge to urinate that comes and goes in a short time period. Ask your provider for guidelines on sexual activity and regular activity. Bed rest has not been proved to prevent preterm labor but overdoing it is not good either.

      @@yvethfulgueras9128 Thanks for asking! Some providers will prescribe a blood pressure medication called Nifedipine. They give you 10mg and have you to take it every 6 hours. This may stop contractions for some women. One of the best medications for stopping contractions is fluids. So many women come into the hospital in labor and we start an IV, give them fluid, and everything stops. Dehydration is a powerful indicator to your body to start contracting and deliver your baby because it is not safe for either of you. If you are having contractions, drink lots of fluids, whatever you can. Maybe speak to your provider about Nifedipine.

    Hi! Is it common for the cervix to shorten when there’s pressure but when there’s no pressure it’s normal? For instance normally my cervix measures at 3.6-3.7, but if there’s a false contraction (Braxton hicks) or pressure it goes down to 2.3 . I’m currently just on progesterone. Also does that mean my length is truly 3.6 or is it 2.3v

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for asking! Absolutely. Braxton Hicks contractions are false labor because they never get into a regular pattern that causes true, lasting cervical change. However, a hicks contraction will still apply some pressure to the cervix which kind of flattens it thus shortening the length as well. If you can, please like my video and subscribe to my channel. It really helps me out! Thanks!

    Hi,
    I have cervical incompetence. It has been found out at the time of my first boy after 22 weeks . But I had been on progesterone and delivered him at 38 weeks successfully.Thank God!!
    But after 6 years , I got pregnant again through FET and at 19 weeks cervix is 2.52 and I was again on progesterone and after one week it’s improved to 2.7 . But at 22 weeks after seeing some bleeding I went to ER and I delivered vaginally and loss the baby.Dr. Said the membrane ruptured and baby was on breech.
    Could you please give me answers for my following concerns?
    1.May I know how soon I can do my next FET? Getting pregnant after 3 months is safe ? I am 33 years old.
    2.Will cervical cerclage help me to reach full term next time?
    3.Do I need to take bed rest for that?
    4.For next delivery, we are planning to go back home country.
    Will it be safe if I do(more than 10 hours ) international travel before cerclage ? We are planning to do cerclage after reaching there.
    Could you please tell me which one is more safe-Traveling internationally before cerclage or after cerclage ?
    Thank you

      1. I would wait 6 months to 1 year. Earlier risks preterm labor.
      2. Every pregnancy is different. You may not need one.
      3. Bed rest can be bad for you, so unfortunately you have to wait and see what is going on during the pregnancy to determine if bed rest is needed.
      4. I would not travel 10 hours with pregnancy complications. If you need a cerclage, at that point you need to stay put.

    I am in my 32 weeks, applied cerclage, and was on progesterone. But from week 29 I developed signs of obstetric pregnancy and was having severe itching, my doctor told me to observe a liver test and I had an abnormal reading of LFT AFT. I quit taking progesterone and started urso.
    I have a few concerns
    1- should I start taking progesterone again?
    2- should I quit taking urso?
    For 3 days I am feeling a lot of downward pressure even though I am resting well.
    Is there any risk of preterm labor??

I don't know that I am pregnant since my menstruation is not regular and I do have spotting or light bleeding every month so I expect that my menstruation is coming. Got tired to do pregnancy test because of frustation that it will always be negative. And last friday started bleeding again I did have a check up and proper rest but unfortunately I had contractions again and went to pre term labour last October 31st, I don't know why my cervix keeps opening and I don't know if I want to be pregnant again I am tired and afraid of losing another baby I just lost two.

    Hello, I lost my daughter a week 10 days ago. I went into premature labor. I was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix. I had pain and tightening one morning and a little leakage. I found out that the sac had come down and I was transferred to another hospital in hopes to do a cerclage. The sac had prolapsed too much and my cervix was soft so I could not get it done. I went into labor three days after the sac had come down. I also had a UTI. I just wanted to know if it had truly been because of an incompetent cervix. I would highly appreciate if you could respond, if not that is okay.

      Thanks for asking! Honestly, any sleeping position that you can sleep in is ok. You should not sleep on your back and only sleep on your sides. Sleep on your back causes your uterus and baby to lay on top of the major blood vessels in your abdomen and this reduces the blood flow to your baby. I have a 3+ 0ld son, I lost my second baby at 6 months, had a very painful contractions for hours before the baby came out and dead, doctor said she’s been dead for hours, I want to know if this is due to incompetent cervix or not and does having a pretern birth once means one’s cervix is incompetent?

    • @TheMaternityMentor
      @TheMaternityMentor  Před rokem +2

      I'm sorry to hear this happened. It does not sound like incompetent cervix. Once a baby dies in utero, the baby will stimulate labor to deliver the baby. This is to save the mother's life. If the baby remains inside you, you could develop a serious infection that can lead to death. I am sending you love and light and healing thoughts.

      Please go for Trans abdominal cerclage (TAC) either before pregnancy or during pregnancy .It is very highly successful. It can be done either laproscopicaly or open surgery.People who have had more than 1 second trimester miscarriage please don't take any risk of going for Vaginal cerclage because the chances of its success is very less even with complete bed rest.With TAC no need for complete bed rest. You can be on modified bed rest. Also once the TAC is placed you can keep it for further pregnancies as well .Only thing is with TAC you can deliver baby via c section. I hope this information might be helpful for someone who is reading the comments

      @ishwaryaakhila8220 Před rokem +2

      There is more difference between TAC and TVC. TAC is placed at higher level of the cervix and is extremely good in keeping the cervix closed.TVC is placed at very lower end of the cervix and doesn't work most of the time. I have had 2 losses and the second loss was with TVC. Then I went for pre pregnancy TAC previous year and now have 2 month old baby.

    • @TheMaternityMentor

      Thanks for asking. I'm sorry to hear this happened. Sometimes, women can have silent contractions. This means their uterus is contracting and thinning out the cervix and they won't feel anything. Once the cervix is thinned, it will dilate open. This can cause miscarriage. Causes of this can include infection and dehydration. I am sending you love and light and healing thoughts.
