  • In this video, we're making some tablet & phone stands. We picked 3 common styles and go over the step by step process of making them. These tablet stands are really quick woodworking projects; each stand takes about 10 minutes to make and they make great gifts. Tablet stands are something you can easily batch out for craft shows. If you've been in the market for a tablet stand, check this out video before you buy one, and hopefully it will encourage you to make your own. Thanks for watching!!

    I liked the "fold flat" two piece one. Can pop it away when not in use. The other designs were nice and elegant too , good ideas, and easily replicated. Thank you.

    I made my first iPad stand by just putting two rail road spikes through a board.
    A year or two ago i made one kind of like number one out of just a 5” chop off a 2x4. No fancy beveled edges like yours.
    Tonight i made that cool triangular one and iit’s definitely my new favorite. Thanks man!

      That's awesome! And the railroad spikes sounds unique, I actually have a few kicking around the shop. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you, I agree! I like the first and the last, though I couldn’t quite see the Final Cut after gluing because of the shadow! I’ve made the second one but also had to modify as my gaps were sloppy! Definitely want to try the first one - brilliant!

      So it's been soo long that I had to go back and watch the video to see what you were referring to. Wow, I forgot that just a few years ago I had NOTHING!! Since then I've purchased a miter gauge, miter saw, and have built a crosscut sled. you're absolutely right about safety! Thanks for watching!

    Made your first one and absolutely love it. Although I think my angle is different to yours. I’d like to try the 3rd one two but can’t see exactly which piece you are cutting off? Thanks so much for sharing!

    Hey Taylor, just found your channel yesterday and love it! I have been meaning to make a tablet/phone stand to mount to my bathroom wall to use while getting ready in the morning. DO you have any ideas on how to take one of your designs and modify to mount to the wall yet still allow for the tablet/phone to be propped up?

    Ok, so upon several more viewings I'm going to assume you keep the 30 degree angle on your tablesaw blade? But I really can't tell which sides of the glued up triangle you cut off (there at the end), and how many inches away from the fence do you have it? The clamp trick is genius btw!

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Před rokem

      I’m sorry, keep meaning to go back and check the angle and keep forgetting, I’ll do it today.

      Sorry for the delay, yes 30* is correct. I’m working on a small set of plans, email us at boydstongrove@yahoo.com and I’ll send you a set as soon as they’re complete.

    First one is definitely the fastest. The most simple. The last one is the most sleek. Modern. 2nd one, just too much trouble 😅 too much measuring etc etc. 1st one is hands down the fastest. 4 small cuts. 3 passes or whatever thickness for tablet

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Před rokem +1

      Yep, and the first one looks pretty good too.

      So you want your saw set to 30*. I’m working on a small set of plans for that one, it should be up on our website this week.

    What thickness was the wood used in Stand #1?

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Před 4 měsíci

      It's been a minute but I'm pretty sure I used 3/4" for the small one and 1" for the large one.

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Před rokem

      Yes, but if I made more i’ld make the slot just a teeny bit deeper.

    I like the last one but can the tablet stand upright?

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Před rokem

      Why yes it can! That one is my favorite as well. If you're using a really big tablet, you can always make the pieces a little longer and that will size the whole thing up a bit. I use it with my 10" Fire Tablet.

  • @glennryzebol4472
    @glennryzebol4472 Před 2 lety +1

    We don`t have any tablets but i think i want to make some as gifts. How thick does the slot need to be?

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Před 2 lety +2

      Sorry for not getting back with you. The slot on the smaller flat one is 3/8" and 1/2" on the larger. I made them specifically for our fire tablets. Keep in mind, because the flat design is so shallow, the slot has to be pretty close to the width of the tablet. If there's too much slop, the tablet could tip over. Unless you know the type (and width) of the tablets you are making these for, I would go with the triangle design because it's more universal and can hold different sized tablets.
