    Got addicted to your videos:) Just to add personal experience (stock x controller and battery, 1,79m, 72kgs, 40 years old lol), mostly riding on rocky steep trails: do prefer the 58t sprocket a lot ( when battery is low we still get good torque for climbing). Recently went to 54t, will keep it to test with upgraded controller (EOOS..) and new BMS that will arrive shortly:) these bikes are awesome

      Did you go with 54T yet? I have a 54T, but thinking of going to 58T. I prefer better performance/torque for slick/greasy uphills .. wondering if I should try 58T.

      Used to ride on husqvarna, freshly converted to the sur ron. The clutch is probably one of the things I miss the less 😂

    • @MTO_Brothers
      @MTO_Brothers  Před 3 lety

      99% of the time, I don't miss the clutch (as the power is instant, you don't need to rev the engine before releasing the clutch).
      But I concur, with loads of power, at slower speeds in technical stuff, it could help sometimes.
      Some Electric Motion models (trials bike) have a clutch.

    nice ride! That Surron motors are so efficient, noisy with the two chains but efficient xD. I think i would have to take a break too cool down my hub motor, so slow and steep hill climbs are the biggest enemy of a hub. In that situation I wish I wouldnt be 90 kilos :/

    • @MTO_Brothers
      @MTO_Brothers  Před 3 lety

      Weight never helps when going uphill that's for sure. I guess that hub motors aren't as efficiently cooled as mid drive motors?
      Sure primary chains are loud, even more so with the bigger sprocket as it spins faster at a given speed!

    • @theblackbike9083
      @theblackbike9083 Před 3 lety

      At low rpm Hubs are less efficient like every electric motor. Thats why they arent suited for slow steep hillclimbs. But i still can ride a long time untill it overheats because i modified it to the max. xD

    Salut ! Super t’es vidéo !! j’ai récemment acheteé une surron en 12kw je fais 60kg et une couronne de 58 me paraît un peut dangereux j’ai pris déjà 2 chutes je pense redescendre en 48
    Merci pour les infos ✌🏼

    • @MTO_Brothers
      @MTO_Brothers  Před 2 lety

      Tout dépend du type de terrain sur lequel tu roules. Si c'est assez technique avec pas mal de dénivelé, une grosse couronne soulage bien le moteur. Il faut compenser en réglant le contrôleur pour qu'il délivre le couple plus progressivement.
      Si c'est plus du roulant, alors la 48 peut faire l'affaire.
      Faut voir 3 choses : coupe suffisant dans les montées, chauffe du moteur (haute ou basse vitesse) et optimisation de l'autonomie.
      Moi (Quentin) je roule en 52T (sur les roues de 19"). Cyprien qui est plus lourd roule en 58T.

    Quentin, Cool vid as always !
    I wonder how the the 58t will be if you had stock primary ratio, yours is custom not 30t on the chain.
    So you are multiplying torque on primary and secondary maybe this is why it's way too much ?
    Maybe test again sometime with the 13/30

    • @MTO_Brothers
      @MTO_Brothers  Před 3 lety +1

      32T instead of 30 is barely a 7% increase in torque. It's not that huge.
      It's too much because of the 13kW and the fact that I'm less than 60kg.
      To be fair, if it was not as exposed, I would have kept it a bit more and remaped the throttle curve to soften throttle response.
      Also one of our friend has his bike stock power wise, he's 90kg and riding with this 58T and he likes it so far, it's punchier when climbing.

    • @MTO_Brothers

  • @KNKLHEAD
    @KNKLHEAD Před 3 lety

    Excellent video and review. I am 90kg, thinking of going to 54T from otherwise all stock Sur Ron. You guys are great riders and really show the capabilities of Sur Ron in this video. I want to do better technical uphills slower speeds, not a lot of traction, tight trails, slippery -- do you think a larger rear sprocket will make the bike too much like an on-off switch? Momentum (larger sproket can help?) at bottom/throughout, versus too much torque, loss of traction? Greetings from the US!

    • @MTO_Brothers
      @MTO_Brothers  Před 3 lety

      Hey man, the larger sprocket will provide more torque and it should be more progressive going up. When torque is lacking, the wheel doesn't turn, until you put enough power and then it just spins too fast, drifting (there you have on/off).
      Larger sprocket will definitely help you keep momentum throughout the climb as the motor will be able to maintain that speed.
      Based on your weight and the type of riding you intend to to, I suppose 56T or even 58T would be appropriate. You can give 56T a try, and based on your feeling, keep it, go bigger or smaller.
      Hope it helps, enjoy riding. Cheers 🇫🇷

    • @KNKLHEAD
      @KNKLHEAD Před 2 lety

      @@TheCameltotem Hi. I tried the 54T, and then the 58T. It is definitely better for very slow conditions for woods "plunking" single-track stuff when trying to maintain forward momentum. Interesting to not, though, the stock gearing 48T seems to be matched in some way a bit better to the engine and torque. I will probably stick with the 58T.
