I just found this so I went to quickly check my recently-acquired JV-30 keyboard, which I knew was standing up on end. Luckily there is no red glue from hell, phew! But there are no weights, either.... turns out that the JV-30 has velocity but is not weighted😁

Nice ! These 90s era JVs are sweet. Yours is GS (Roland's version of GM ) specific IIRC. Kind of a SC-55 with keys. Also, it takes the expansion card sr-jv-80 series

I made the mistake to use WD40 that I sprayed between the stucked keys. It did a great job at taking out the stickiness BUT there is now no sound coming out of those keys. It's like those keys don't make contact anymore with the electronics. It's a Roland XP80 that I bought in 1996.

Your keyboard most likely has the red glue syndrome. You will need to dis-assemble the synthesizer, remove the keys, and perform the process to remove the red glue.

Just dealing with this right now, I caught it before the electronics were effected but it’s a nightmare

Hey, thanks for your reply. I was making a funny. It's no secret. But yeah, I found LAs' Totally Awesome cleaner goes to town on it. I leave 10 or 12 keys in in a big pickle a jar for a day or so, full strength . Some of the weights fall right out. Easier than working with lye.

I used baking soda and water just to get the glue off.

Hi, let me check and see how many I have left. I have another JV-80 up for rehabilitation too. I'll probably put some up on that well known auction site maybe at the beginning of the new year.

Try searching for "Tire weights" - some of them look to be about the same size and the come with their own adhesive. Not sure how reliable that adhesive would be, but I guess you could always use some glue as well...

LOL!! Proprietary solution:)) !!!! It is a simple lye and water mix. It is all over the internet dude, no need to be greedy about it.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I was making a funny. It's no secret, I know. Lye will work, yes. And actually, I found LAs' Totally Awesome cleaner goes to town on it.

@@resynthesizer4565 really??? I checked that stuff out of Amazon. It's appears to be a run of the mill degreaser, cleaner spot remover? Nearly everything I had read about removing any trace of this glue can only be done with using Lye - you know caustic soda, sodium hydroxide .. call it whatever you wish.

Sorry for the late reply. Really. I leave it in a big pickle a jar for a day or so, full strength . Some of the weights fall right out. Easier than working with lye.
