Update: No expansion board is required for these sounds. About 6 of the organ and choir sounds in this video that required the Pop EXP board have been replaced with excellent VintageSynth patches. There are still plenty of organ and choir patches in this bank. The Van Halen "Jump" patch that many have been interested in has been improved and is even more accurate. The old Jump patch still exists with a new name "Poly Saws 83". The new Jump patch is called "Jump OBXa". For those who purchased the previous file, I have sent out the new updated file called "JV80CustomVintage".
No external effects or processing was used to create this demo. This patch bank is now available for 21.99 U.S, payable to synthartist69@yahoo.com via PayPal. Be sure to send email address that you would like for me to send the FILE. This patch bank includes 64 custom and 80's type patches and 16 performance patches that can be written into your user internal memory.
The file will be sent to your email as .syx. You will need a high-quality USB to midi cable such as the Roland UM1 MK2. It is available at Amazon. www.amazon.com....
I cannot vouch for any other USB to midi cables, but from experience, the cheap cables have never worked for me when it comes to transferring bulk and .syx files back and forth. I used a free midi utility to create this file and to send it back into the JV80. I have double-checked to make sure that the file I am sending you works properly. Here is the free midi utility that I used. I did not have to make any adjustments other than select my midi cable device from the list for input and output.

System exclusive information can be used to store data such as Patch and
Performance parameters. Use the following procedure to enable the JV-80/90/1000
to receive system exclusive data:
1) Press WRITE.
2) Use the CURSOR RIGHT button to select "PROTECT."
3) Press ENTER.
4) Use PARAMETER SLIDER 1 to change the "INTERNAL" memory protect value to
"OFF."
5) Use PARAMETER SLIDER 2 to change the "EXCLUSIVE" memory protect value to
"OFF."
6) Press EXIT twice.
7) Press MIDI.
8) Use the UP and DOWN ARROW buttons to select the "SYS-EX" display screen.
9) Use PARAMETER SLIDER 2 to select the appropriate Unit # (usually 17).
10) Send the information from your sequencer. When the sequencer is finished
sending data, you will be able to access the new Patches, Performance
parameters, etc. in the JV-80/90/1000.

I picked up my JV 80 way back in the early 1990s . had several roland services in its long life ,audio outputs , transformer power supply & a new keyboard fitted as the glue in the originals tended to stick down keys after a few years use. In the 20 years of tours the sjv 80 travelled thousands of Ks in it's original case , so many trucks ,vans ,aircraft cargo holds with tours to US, UK , Europe and SE Asia and all around Australia, playing pubs & clubs to the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne concert hall. Today she is retired from the road and sits in a sliding draw under my studio desk. It's my keyboard controller for logic and has done fab service in this roll. All the patch buttons still work as does the synth .

I bought James' tones, transferred it to my JV-80 and it was wonderful, the tone of Van Halen's song "Jump" is perfect, identical to the original. I am very grateful to James, because he served me very well and took all my doubts away, answering my emails in a super fast and helpful way. Amazing. Patches reminds a lot to progressive rock/metal bands i grow up listening . They were using JD800 a lot at the time, very similar sounds. Love it. Reconsidering getting JV880 module.

I heard somewhere that the Roland Juno 6 was underestimated when it came out in either '85 or '86 not knowing that it was going to be one of the most iconic sound machines of the 80s... Great demo. Happy Thanksgiving!

Bought these patches. IMO really worth the money. Programmed with lots of love for historic detail. JV 80/880 is really a landmark synth that still shines.
If you could do another bank, utilizng waveforms from the pop-expansion, that would really be something exciting.
Thank you for the comment. The reason why I did not create a pop exp version is because most users do not have that exp board. I have a new file that is primarily geared toward vintage synths that I have not posted yet. It has lots of sweeping pads..some moog bass sounds..etc.

Fantastic sounds😃 ... but .... Is this a direct signal? Or was the sound of the synthesizer passed through additional processing, such as EQ, xciter or something else to decorate the sound and make it brighter and richer? What interface was used for recording? Thnx :)

Some of the riffs played are obvious. Like Jump, and Sunglasses. But others aren't. Would be nice if someone or the OP compiled a list of song names to go along with the patch order in this video.
