Hi Alex, I know of an early 318i E30 that has been sat on a lady’s driveway for around 10 years. Please contact me if you’d like to sort something out, she would be delighted to see it run and dragged out. It’s rust free!
Let me know if you want to sell the car once you re done with whatever you have planned, I might need another 740, my 740 8V NA, my 740 16V NA and my 740 8V Turbo are feeling very lonely
Triumph spitfire 1500 that hasn't run in over 20 years, Interested?
I have a 2000 VW Passat 1.9 TDi 115HP 5 speed manual that's been sitting for 2.5 years.
But I'm in Romania so I don't think that would work.
My neighbor also has a Mk3 Audi 80 (Diesel I think) that hasn't started in 4-5 years.
my dads got a 2002 nissan micra which has been sitting for around 5 years because of some mechanical problems would be amazing to see it run again!
I really like this feel of just a bunch of guys chatting, having a project and mucking about. Notifications have been turned on! 👏
this is EXACTLY how most car fuckery goes down. You watch other channels they just drop some fuel in a carby and all is sweet, this os way more like what happens ..."there is 11 problems with this cars engine.... so far. And my hand and shoulder hurt"
@@jameswood1935 you'd be surprised, but that's their first car where it didn't give up easily. Normally car throttle are lucky, except for Alex's car Phil
@@jameswood1935 I recommend Mortkse Repair Junkyard Digs and Vice Grip garage. Those are just a few among many channel where the people actually know their shit and show everything that they are doing
@@Randomeris1 Love Vice Grip Garage. Have to also recommend Mustie1. He only does cars occasionally, the rest being abandoned, side of the road stuff with small engines and a few motorcycles, but it's like you're hanging out in the garage with him.
The fact that a volvo is straight doesnt mean it hasnt been rear ended, it just means the force of the impact exploded on the other weaker car 😆
The other car was erased from the timeline.
It's funny, but not too far from the truth. My first car crash was in a Nissan Micra that was hit side on in the front wing by a volvo. The Micra took on a triangular shape and the volvo didn't appear to have noticed.
Mine takes on trees.
i absolute love the pureness of this, this is hilarious
theyre having so much fun with it
My 79 242GT spent 14 years sleeping in the corner of a garage. Picked it up, gave it a quick service at the parking lot of a gas station and drove it home ~800km. I love these cars.
Impressive.
while im here looking for own in europe and sweden itself, cant find any for a decent price. Enjoy your gt!
The 242GT is the ultimate volvo imo. I'd be tempted to make a grp a replica.
@@tracklizard4018 As a noob I was looking for a 240 sedan and found a nice one around some corners in a neighboring country. At the registration office I found out that I was riding a unicorn, there wasn’t a single GT registered in the my country 🤣
@@flohackel5003 The 242 is rare enough but a GT is extra rare. If it has that manchester interior, black details, and the silver metallic colour you know it's a unicorn.
These cars are beasts!
good seeing you here
Would love to see a project series on this car! Looks to be in great shape both in the interior and chassis. It's even a 16v model which is pretty darn rare even here in norway
0:44 that interior is by no means in good shape.
@@Franko384 apart from the ceiling and the dust/cobwebs/result of long time storage in a field it is in pretty good shape. Just needs a thorough cleanup and detailing.
The 16v is rare in the us too
This is the kind of content I wish CT did, loving the stand alone channel!

This is the kind of content I wish CT did, loving the stand alone channel!
They LITERALLY do exactly this type of content. I hate people like you who have to compare, you do realize the CEO of CT is a very very good friend of Alex, they were friends before the show, stop putting someone down to elevate another....
@@TheSmokezalot Don't get your knickers in a twist buddy, this style of video is nothing like the CT ones the difference is clear you donut
This is content that I have missed, it’s like old carthrottle when you and Gareth worked on Phil.
Glad Gareth is back 💪
So happy you’ve got some Volvos on the channel. That engine is incredibly rare. Please don’t kill it!
Seen plenty of them around. If you look you can find a b234 for like 500 bucks in Sweden.
@@tracklizard4018 He is not in sweden though. He is in the uk!
@@tracklizard4018 I’m in the UK and Sweden quite often won’t ship stuff the UK. It’s like M90 gearboxes, loads in the UK but barely any in the states and people usually wont ship because of the hassle
@@willgoodyear2453 I mean, it's a money thing. Shipping a gearbox worth 100 euros to america isn't really feasible when they can source better ones in country. Definitely don't see an issue shipping m90's, b234's, b230fk/Fts and 531s, k/v/vx/vx3/a cams etc to the UK though.
My family had two 740s when I was kid. I can still identify them just by the sound the doors make when they shut
100% get it running and drift it, would be amazing to see.
2.5Ton, 40Whp, 1Wd.
That is alot of work for spinning A tire in sharp right turns…
36 tons on the roof.
@@robinlundh3962 they obviously wouldn't drift it stock. If you striped the interior and did a few engine mods it would drift .
@@robinlundh3962 You are greatly underestimating old Volvos. The 740/940 are notorious for being very light in the back. You can even "drift" a GL (113hp) if you want and this is the 16 valve variant with a bit more punch.
Now, if they put a turbo on it this thing will be a literal flying brick.
@@robinlundh3962 someone hasn't seen drifts n lifts
@@Thumbii No i’m not. I agree with Alex statement ”I’ve been here 5 minutes and I allready hate it!”
Being from Sweden I have seen, heard, ridden every possible version of these cars, from stock to tuned. And heard every version of ”how good they are”.
And I truly hate them. They are overpriced, underengineered boringness. And just stupid.
Alex I’m loving the content on your channel it’s absolutely brilliant. Look forward to watching more quality videos from you, 🙏🏼 😎 🔥 💯
I think you should make the Volvo into a super clean sleeper
And mabye a monster truck as it would be the best off road sleeper
Gingium did pretty good job on Volvo sleeper, still waiting on the continues vids from him
I love watching abandoned vehicles being made to run again. More of these videos please
I had ‘88 740 which hadn’t been driven for a decade or so, previous owner couldn’t work out why it wouldn’t start. I put some fuel in it and it ran as good as you’d expect from an old Volvo.
740 GLT 16 valve. Off-the-scale badge envy!
Rare engine: B234F, 159hp.
Worth dragging out of a hedge for the head alone!
@@jfv65 Even though it made a whopping estimate of 4 hp in todays episode
Such a cool car, favourite volvo badge has to be the 760 Jurbo.
@@bubert8955 LOL, yes. 😁
I'm sure they will get it running tho.
This is without a doubt, one of my favourite CZcams channels! Great work Alex!👍
brown nose, it's only got five videos and one of those was Alex rubbing his own ego by filming some poor homeless guy so he can monetize his misery 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@BariLopesh But if you don't like this channel, why the hell are you watching this video?
@@BariLopesh why you hating for he donated a homeless guy a van. I seen it from the homeless guy perspective. I would have loved someone to bought me a van. People can be nasty you have to sleep one eye open. Kids round here will just set your tent on fire
@@Car_and_classic_lover There’s always one attention seeker (Gareth Owens) lol I’m sure you’re not worried about his negative comment mate.
@@maverick9767 Totally, I just don't understand why people feel the need to watch a video just to criticise people who watch it or criticise the CZcamsr.👍
Most impressive was seeing an X5 running under its own steam on GRASS 😱
16 Valve - that's a fairly rare motor.
B234F, it even has balance shafts.
Yeah, gotta make sure to watch the cambelt otherwise it’s toasted. One of the main reasons it getting so rare, caused the death of many 16 valves
Alex you don’t know how happy you just made me by posting a video with a Volvo, they are so underrated it’s insane thank you!
I need more of this car in my life. Please dont give up on it! 😆
A couple points of interest to get this thing running: crank sensor, possible ignition module(I think that may also have something to do with injector pulse), obviously the computer under the passenger side kick panel is suspect, possible bad ground, also check fuses. And remember this is a 16 valve engine, an interference engine, those timing belts are vulnerable to snap especially after 10 years of sitting In a field
Damn I am really jealous of this engine setup would love a 16 valve engine for my 740. Along with that a manual as well. In the states that would be a super rare car.
Super jealous in Australia, pretty sure they even got M90 'stronger' trans.
@@gin3648 Only the 900 series got the m90 from 95-96 and onwards.
Was thinking the same thing. Such a cool spec of car
Great video, reminded me of the MX-5 project vids with the crew, so good!
I like to imagine Ethan is still behind the camera
I love these two. You can really tell the friendship is real and not pit om and faked. Well done on setting up on your own and also for the quality of the videos. Also shout out to Gareth for the mechanics.
Cool video
A family friend owned a couple of these, always rusty and loud, tatty and each one he owned had the exhaust hanging off or a big gaping hole, still remember my old school teacher having one of these. Absolute class 👍
Got to love the old Volvos, they are just brutal tanks!
I've own a few myself and currently I'm driving a GTE.
Volvo 740/940 are one of, if not the best cars ever made.
So bulletproof engines
For the algorithm for the Alex
Love the energy on this channel 👏
Sweet video Alex, I really love these sort of videos with cars coming back to life after sitting for years and have done a couple revivals myself. Would love to see more of these from you in the future! Also it is much easier to do with older carbureted engines so you're not fighting electronics!
I’m really going to enjoy your page Alex, it’s real, no shit and free of any wankerism like so many other CZcamsrs page suffer. I’ll never stop hitting that like button for you!
Outstanding fun. Miss you guys
Sending you hugs dude! When are you coming back to visit us? I have a friend asking.... 🎇
@@ak47gat1 I land next friday!! Also you have to come out to Salt Lake City, even if just for holiday. I've big spare room and there's so much cool offorading here.

I just love how genuine you all are. its so rare to see people being entertaining/funny and not seem like its all scripted. awesome job guys. loved the vid
We need to see more Gareth! When you two come together there's a particular magic in the videos!
I swear, I am only 6:30 in and there are actual tears running down my face!! 🤣🤣 You and Gareth are a great combo, Alex. More of you two on here.
Edit The car is called Geof!! 😄
Vice Grip Garage vibes?
love this, a full series on this car would be so cool. Getting it back to its former glory
Killing it as always, Alex; nice one. Look forward to seeing this beauty again!
Fuel injection relay, seems to be located right besides the coolant tank!
Good stuff! I hope boys have figured that much out, but I do like the sound of an ECU install video.
I don't think it's the wisest to try starting it with 10yo oil that probably also has some miles on it
Oil was brand new when parked hadnt done any miles, just age
@@AndersonAgriMedia yeah but oils has 2 years expiration time
Loving your new channel Alex and also looking forward to some motorcycle content, always puts a smile on my face with your mad energy.
Yes Alex, been waiting for a British version of will it start for years and now it’s here with a couple of absolute legends, class video as always mate, loving the content, nice variety
That is the most bush mechanic shit ive seen in a whiiiile rofl I was thinking this would lever fucking work the timing would be all wrong but I guess as long as the petrol settled on top of the valves the engine didnt care much. Kudos 1
What ever you do with it, make it go faster. Here in Sweden, most of these are now turned into "(class) A-Tractors - basically the Swedish version of "sans permit"-vehicles for kids 16 years or older, to drive before they can have a drivers licence and drive a real car, meaning the "A-Tractors are only allowed to have a top speed of 30 km/h (18.64114mph). They are the curse of the Swedish country roads and I hate every signle one of them - to compansate this, please make this Volvo go FASTER than it normally did, instead of the agonizing opposite. Thank you!
Lovely to see u guys enjoying all that.❤ Just the footage i purely enjoy much love from good ol germany✌🏼
Loving this content! Its all well and good seeing cars that have sat in Texas never seeing rain springing back to life but the UK is HARD in cars that sit and I wanna see you rescue these shitboxes
Keep up the good work Alex! Love an old motor that’s been stuck in a field for years!
Love Gareth in videos with you cause it's chaos and control. Hilarious to see
Great vid. As a 940 owner very satisfying.
For next time, you can unleash the blockade on the bonnet hinges. So you can put it in a 90° angle. You can work it much easier.
The beginning where they’re just messing around and hitting each other with nettles is seriously how every project goes with your friends around.
love these video's with you and gareth!!!! great stuff!!!
Love Alex + Gareth action. Dynamic duo
Learned to drive in one (mostly), my dad had an '86 version. I loved it. Remember my sister at the wheel, at the time she was 3. Cheers.
oh my god. The 16v redblock is an absolute machine
This content is right up my alley! I just picked up a 940 turbo that had been sitting for a bit and it made 5 hours home!!
Absolutely loving the new channel Alex keep up the amazing and funny content.
Glad to see Gareth back
The videos with Gareth are really fun. Hopefully with this new channel, we'll see more of him.
funny thing actually, my stepdad drives one of those volvos and also has electrical gremlins. aside from that these things are tanks
11:45 exactly the man that springs to mind when you say volvo 740 estate owner. I love him.
Loving the new channel! Has a mighty car mods feel to it. Great stuff. 👍
I had a K reg Rover 214 which sat on my drive for years, going rotten. One day we jump-started it and it ran fine. After a couple of new tyres it then passed its MOT. It was an absolute tank. Wouldn't get that with most modern cars.
Loving the vibe of this video, always fun to see Gareth.
The idea of just fixing the volvo for cheap and drift it around sounds good.
Also ordered myself a couple of them cool t-shirts, really loved the Miles series :D
Love the videos Alex, proper car videos, much love and good luck sir!
Thats one of the rare 2,3L B234F 16V engines, a little harder to get parts for, as the 2,3L 8V engines are much more common.
Got my Volvo the same way. Sat in a yard also for nearly 10 years: a 740 sedan, also with the 16V B234F engine.
We filled the gas tank, cleaned the spark plugs, used some starter fluid, and it started right away. Drove it on its own power to the garage a few miles away. I used it for 6 years, until the rust finally won.
Wonderful car.
Do more of these. Would love to see more from your side of the pond
Love this kind of vid… Gareth is great value and his guns are bigger than Alex’s.
This is the kind of content I like! Thanks Alex!
Great content and the sandal mechanic made for the screen as well 👍
Looking forward to the next part, please keep this going
Honestly love this alex, brings me back to you and gareth installing the v6 into phil !
Love what you do.
great to see Gareth back! and nice hack with the "manually timed ignition" ^^ should've wired them individually and played like on guitar strings!
the content on this channel is absolutely fantastic!
the vibes are immaculate on this channel, good job
Keep the cool content coming Alex! There’s not been a boring moment so far on your very own channel. Fair play lad!!!
You remember the Top Gear 'Source of the Nile' episode? Those campervan conversions in the estates were genuinely brilliant. Do something like that, and take it on a roadtrip.
I could watch Alex and Gareth muck about with old cars for hours
Love this type of video, more please it's great.
You and Gareth are such a duo. Please make more videos with him.
Oooooh yes 👍 the master mechanic on auto Alex cars thanks Alex love the channel truly hope you and the fam and Macey and Phil all doing well legend keep at it one car at a time 😉
Come to Poland … I’ve got a 87’ BMW E30 320iA sitting for a long time ✌️
Great video as always, hopefully we can see more of gareth in the future episodes, cause you guys are definitely one of the best duo ever 🙌
I love how Garret matches Alex’s crazy energy.
An old Volvo never stops running... I've made run a 960 after 14 years and it started with no fresh fuel, what great cars they are
One of my dads friends had/have a truly perfect 740, when they're in properly good condition it's a really good looking car. He's a mechanic and it was essentially in new condition the last time I saw it.
Good content as normal, was so nice to meet you and Garweth at Modnats!
I have the same engine in my 744, couple of top tips to keep it alive:
-Replace the timing belt as soon as possible as this is an interference engine!
-Check the condition of the oil pump gear, some were a kind of plastic and have deteriorated over time
Optional: cut the balance shafts belt (1 belt, 2 balance shafts) and don't replace it, it has been known to snap and destroy the timing belt with it, destroying the head in the proces (+ you don't really need the balance shafts, purely for comfort).
Please save this Volov (block), it is very desirable amongst Volvo fans!
I've heard of 'wasted spark ignition', but never 'wasted injection ignition' before.
Kudos for getting it to run-ish.
Alex, please as a project get this car an MOT! Do it to inspire everyone with an abandoned car to get them back on the road! Watching CT videos in past helped me save my X5 as it inspired me to give it a go!
Cant wait to see this beast running.
Johnny Smith would absolutely love this, fantastic work 👍
Hell yes love seeing Gary in the videos
Loving the new content 👌👌
Sweet memories! I saved a 1990 745 GLE 16V from the wrecker once. I was scavenging for parts for my 360 GLT when I found it. Asked the wrecker if I could have it if I managed to get it running. I only had to buy the battery he supplied me with.
I drove it off the yard that day! 350k on the clock and it drove like a dream.
Always very professional workmanship guys and safety precautions are second to none! 👍💥
I love video like this! Alex is like a kid though that never grows up playing pranks on everyone, I've not laughed so much in one video for a while. Keep up the great work Rory and Gareth plus Alex.
I have a similar model 740 saloon which was sat in a garden 24 years. I used to walk past it on the way to school as a kid. I now own the car and it’s my daily. Only needed fresh fuel and a fuel pump and she drove right out the garden!
Brilliant upload, guys. The whole consept is super cool and engaging :-) Best regards from a car detailer from Norway.
