The bus driver does end up opening that door and the biker ends up escaping. After he escapes he opens the trunk of the bus and places a trash can in front of the bus. Later when the bus driver comes out to remove the trash can, the biker comes out and beats him up which in this case would be considered an assault since he was no longer captive and attacking the bus driver was unnecessary

If you witness a crime you can take reasonable action to detain him/her until police arrive, ( depending on your state ) it’s the law, I don’t think the bus driver was being unreasonable, he didn’t even have to touch the guy. the only thing I think he did wrong was put the other passengers at risk by locking them in with that crazy dude, not cool.

Just to make you guys clear, the Biker initiated the whole thing. He was right to get his license plate and file a report but if you guys watched closely you would have noticed, that the bus driver opened the door litteraly 3 seconds after closing it. The biker than, after moving out a little (to get more power for his kick i believe) kicked the driver cabin door. At this time he took off and closed the door again.

That's just a wrong sequence of events tho. The biker first yells at the bus driver, telling him he had no right to pull out (which isn't a crime) after which the bus driver tells him to enter the bus, and then proceeds to lock him in (which is a crime, at least where I'm from) after which the agitated biker tries to force himself out (which would therefore probably be justified self-defence)

Not sure where this is, but the buses in my area have a button above the door which can be pressed to open them. At the back of the bus, there is also an emergency exit which looks like a door.
