Arizona Rock Crawling on Ajax Extension (a.k.a. Upper Ajax Mine Trail)

In April 2024 we made our first wheeling trip out to Florence, AZ and it did not disappoint. The area has lots of challenging technical trails, amazing desert landscapes and historical mining sites.
The Upper Ajax Mine trail is often referred to as the Ajax Extension. This trail, located in the Florence Junction area of Arizona, is well-known among off-road enthusiasts. The best time to check this area out is between October and April, when Arizona desert temperatures are more tolerable.
