Watching football is more popular than playing it in India. Their main sports are cricket and hockey.
In China, football obviously also has popularity as far as a spectator sport, but badminton, table tennis, swimming and basketball are more popular as far a national playing sport. Gymnastics is also very popular..where kids are sent at a very young age to learn. So theyâre not all busy making iPhones lol!
If you are a football culture then a larger population = larger potential talent pool.
Yeah population itâs a factor but other factors include how much the country spends on Grass routes football , academyâs, coaching etc . The Dutch đłđ± are a country with a relatively small population but have been successful over the years . By investing loads of time and money on football.

tbh I can sympathize. Latvia is my favorite country and i'm British born and bred. I wouldn't say we "dominate every sport we play", but you support your fave countries like you support your club, doesn't matter whether you are 3 goals up or 3 goals down, you still support the team.
That being said, you still need to live in the real world, and whilst I respect Slovenia and Latvia, we're not dominating shite. But it's always great to see them get far in a tournament or to scrape out alive against better teams.
