Hm, I can see what K means about some Dylanism in inflection, however yours is far more lyrical, obviously. I like the way you are shaping vocal phrases these days… maybe the influence of these lyrical singers like Elvis! I feel like in this track you are riding the melody with your breath, making long continuous phrases, but without driving or pressing…. It all sounds easy, clear, and consistently tuneful. The ends of the phrases stay in the melody (rather than being dropped into speech like Dylan’s) but there’s a gentleness to them… 😎😎😎

Thank you! ❤️🙏 It does feel like I don't have to press as much now to get the sound I want from my voice. There's still a long way to go, but I don't hate hearing myself sing quite as much as I used to! It's interesting to cover Dylan, because it feels a bit like there's a lot of openness for interpretation in the songs. I'm never going to really want to mimic his vocal style, so it leaves more freedom to find my own voice. With smoother singers there seems to be more temptation to try to replicate what they're doing. Every song is a new adventure, regardless!

@@johnny_amish Oh that’s an interesting dynamic… I guess you are wanting freedom to allow your voice to find its own natural place rather than emulating other artists… inner-to-outer rather than outer-to-inner. I’m like this too! I’ve never listened much to other singers for what I guess is that same reason… but I’d never put it into words

@isaiahsays I guess it changes from day to day a bit? I think most singers have something that could be "borrowed," but there's also a unique voice inside of us we're trying to define?

@@johnny_amish Yes I’m sure that’s it. I’m always being encouraged to listen to other singers but I think I’ve been worried I’ll be lost in mimicry. It’s gotta be both!
